SECTION 1: NON-COMPETITIVE

OPEN BEGINNERS’ PERFORMANCE Open Beginners’ Performance Section 1

Entry Fee €5

This non-competitive section is open to performers of any instrument who have been learning for a maximum of 2 years. Teacher to verify.

i. Each performer will receive a Certificate of Participation.

ii. There will be no written adjudication. iii. There will not be an official accompanist available for this competition but

teachers may accompany the students themselves or arrange their own accompanist. Otherwise students are free to play unaccompanied or with backing track.

iv. Please use the special form attached to the Entry form for multiple entries.

Requirement One piece, not exceeding 2 minutes

SECTION 2: COMPETITIVE

COMPETITIONS FOR ALL INSTRUMENTS

CMC Intermediate Contemporary Music Competition 2 sponsored by the Contemporary Music Centre Entry Fee €15

Open to performers of all instruments who have not yet completed Grade 5. Teacher to verify.

The winner will receive a €50 Bursary

Copies of both pieces to be submitted to adjudicators on the day of the competition.

1. Required: a piece by a living composer from Ireland selected from the library

of music in the Contemporary Music Centre (samples and scores for purchase at www.cmc.ie)

2. Required: a piece written on or after 1950.

CMC Advanced Contemporary Music Competition 3 sponsored by the Contemporary Music Centre Entry Fee €20 Open to performers of all instruments who have completed Grade 5 and over. Teacher to verify.

The winner will receive a €100 Bursary

Copies of both pieces to be submitted to adjudicators on the day of the competition.

1. Required: a piece by a living composer from Ireland selected from the library of

music in the Contemporary Music Centre (samples and scores for purchase at www.cmc.ie).

Intermediate Open Recital Competition 4 Open to solo performers of any instrument, up to and including 16 years of age. Entry Fee €25

Winner will receive €100 Bursary Competitors may perform music they are performing in other competitions.

A programme of at least two pieces (or movements) that is of a minimum Grade 5 standard, not exceeding 12 minutes.

Advanced Open Recital Competition 5 Open to solo performers of any instrument, no age restriction. Entry Fee €25

Winner will receive €250 Bursary Competitors may perform music they are performing in other competitions.

A programme of at least two pieces (or movements) that is of a minimum Grade 7 standard, not exceeding 15 minutes.
