Black Eyed Susan• Have coarse, hairy leaves

with golden yellow heads and brownish black centers.

• Grow about 2 to 3 feet tall.• Bloom from summer to

fall.• Like full sun or light shade

and can tolerate hot, dry summers.

• Best used as cut flowers.• Typically grown in beds,

backgrounds, and borders.

Chrysanthemum• Native to the Orient, where

it is a symbol of Japanese royal imperial house.

• Leaves are thick• Different colors are

available; yellow, orange, red, white.

• The cultivar “Clara Curtis” the flowers are pink color with yellow center.

• Grow in mounds 1 to 3 feet tall and bloom in late summer to frost.

• Like full sun in a well-drained, moist soil.

•Require ample fertilizer and water.•Used in border or cut flowers.

• Early summer to frost is the time or bloom.

• Used in borders and rock gardens.

• Also need to be well-watered and deadheaded for continued bloom.
