To the Reader of Seed Thoughts for Daily Planting:

It should be explained that there is no particular reason why any one Book of the Agni Yoga Teaching should be

assigned for study during a certain month, or for the assignment of a designated paragraph to a specified day. The

following arrangement was adopted as a convenient method for the presentation of a few facets of this Great Teaching

offered to Humanity at the beginning of a New Era the Epoch of Maitreya.

No attempt has been made to epitomize each Book. It would be impossible to do so. However, certain characteristics

have been stressed in order to show that each Book has an individual message*, though threads of continuity run through

all.

In reading straight through Seed Thoughts for Daily Planting, after completing the detailed work on each Book, the

compiler discovered a significant pattern binding them all together:

First comes The Call of the Hierarchy to the Pathway of Light. This is followed by Illumination. Then comes a sense

of responsibility toward the Community.

These three introductory volumes lead up to preparation for the acceptance of Agni Yoga. From this lofty peak we

glimpse Infinity the Goal of our striving.

Infinity is, however, too lofty a concept for our comprehension until we have learned that Hierarchy is our Link, and

Heart the means of our attainment.

Then we must learn about the Fiery World, and come to know ourselves as citizens of the Universe, not simply of the

planet Earth.

Also, we have to so refine our natures that we can respond to the sacred AUM the vibration that opens the Gates of

Realization. Our concept of Brotherhood expands, including all manifestation of the ONE LIFE.

These volumes are followed by Letters of Helena Roerich, a Disciple of the Great Hierarch through many

incarnations, chosen by Him to transmit His Message of AGNI YOGA, or LIVING ETHICS for the NEW ERA.

So, perhaps, if we learn the lessons of all the other Books of the AGNI YOGA TEACHING (thus far published) we

may return to the two volumes of Infinity, better prepared to understand something of the Realm of Beauty which may beexperienced even while in our earthly bodies if we remain steadfast in striving, ceaseless in service, conforming to the

two great Laws the Law of Evolution and the Law of Hierarchy.

But to few are opened the secrets of Our Decisions.

Our Teaching is not a campaigning one; it is an instructive one, intended for those who already desire to perfect

themselves.

I entrust the Teaching to each one who lives in all the worlds. Do not consider such a definition inapplicable. Man

actually lives in all the Worlds. Each day he visits the Worlds, but he cannot be conscious of these momentary absences.

Only a few apprehend the sensation of being absent. No extended time is required for the spirit, which exists outside oftime. Such sensations are quite characteristic for developed consciousnesses.

special design? Let friends sometimes reflect upon why this system has been selected! Does there not lie in it the

particular problem of reacting on different centers? Perfecting the ability of perception is a very important attainment.

5. I will point out the waythe heart will understand

in your striving towards Good.

January 2nd

19. Steep is the path to the abode of faith.

Turn your mind to the joy of creation,

That you may exalt the spirit,cast out all trivial thoughts, and be ready

to receive the waves of vibration sent by Us.

24. Beseech Christ.

Search for the joy of turning to the Creator.

Learn, and unlock the Gates of Knowledge,

And affirm yourselves in understanding the Divine Plan.

25. We lend Our Ears to pure thoughts.

You will receive the knowledgeand will walk the pure path,

but beware of anger and of doubt.

If you conquer, you will receive the light.

If you falter, the whirlwind will obscure your soul.

The cultivation of offenses produces a poor garden.The ability to overcome proves the strength of your

181. Pure music helps the transmission of the current.

The heart and mind do not conflict

when they sail the Ocean of Creative Labor.

193. The character of the people will be illumined

by the beauty of spirit.

Weep not where tears are useless; arrows are needed

to transfix the dark spirit.

Whosoever proclaims Beauty shall be saved.

of the coming culture.

Through Beauty will you approach.

of the great Universe.

Guard, expound, and affirm this Beauty.

334. Your joy is Our joy.

When the enchanted flower of tenderness unfolds

on earth, a new star is born in the Infinite.

January 19th

336. Waterfalls and green grass, birds and winds

all sing to me.And on my way is born a song.

I proceed with ease.

But when the wind is still and the birds are flown

and the green grass bends, what shall I do, My

Lord?

Regard then Me.

As the mountains give rise to new heights,

And abysses crossed but confront me

with new mountains,

When I have traversed all deserts

and have scaled all summits

What shall I see, O Lord?

Thou shalt see Me.

January 20th

344. New ones will manifest themselves in action.

They will reveal the shield of Beauty,

And, full of love, will open the doors to those who

knock.

The earth will sink beneath the feet of the blind,

And the deaf will be destroyed.

I am sending a living spring,

to bathe your eyes and ears.

And the Miracle will be manifested,

And a Bridge of Beauty will lead you on your new path.

350. Your best endeavors are nurtured by Us like seeds.

Blessed are the paths of beauty;

The thirst of the world must be quenched.

The miracle of New Life is obscured by tatters,

yet it lives.

Fear not the scum of life;

When the pot is boiling, the scum swirls to the top.On the path of podvig there can be no fear,

Yet the fire of the heart illumines the way of truth.

The truth of Eternity is in beauty of the spirit.

The spirit knows where beauty is.

January 22nd

356. Teach My Path.

Help people to develop an understanding of mans

nature.

They will understand the nature of Service.

They will understand the joy of the Beautiful.

They will understand the simple truths

that transform life into a miracle.

Our Shield is invisible,

Yet by night you can perceive affirmation

of the days hints and whispers.

For Us there has not been a more complex time thanthis, at the changing of races.

January 23rd

357. Can the tree stand firm?

Yes, yes, yesif the roots are deeply buried

and unseen beneath the ground.

I told you of beauty, I told you of love,

I told you of action.

I told you of devotion, I told you of readiness and

compassion.

I have opened the window for you, and shown you

the battle.

I explained the meaning of courage,And finally I summoned you to the Great Service.

357. And when you erect the Temple of Beauty,

And on its approaches you lay out My Garden of Joy,

Then name this Garden in My Name,

For I told you: Children, rejoice!

360. But amidst attainment devote time to silence

of the spirit.

Then shall I approach thy inner being.

The seed of the Great Silence

leads to knowledge of the Great Service.

360. Brothers, in all thy beginnings,

remember the time of silence.

It is then that you are approached

by the Messenger of the Teaching.

And thus, understanding prayer and podvig,

Glorified by beauty, strongly embracing power as

sacrifice,

You will reach the Temple.

374. The morning bird is ready to sing out the dates.

The prophecy of days is being fulfilled.

And filled to the brim are the chalices

of the Archangels.

Hallowed be the Name of the Lord!

People will rise up by the spirit.

433. The Wonders of the Teacher will grow.

Within the garden of love grow illuminations

of the spirit.

Tire Me today; burden Me more,

laying on the weight of the world.

Yet will I increase My strength.

for she goes into My garden.

Urusvati, dost thou hear? The burden will blossom

with roses,

And the dewy grass will be arrayed

with the morning rainbow.

When I go into the garden of beauty,

434. From the fir tree you can learn;

It is the same both in winter and summer.

February 1st

V 3. Ponder each day how to fulfill My Work. Teach the inheritorsteach them beauty. Affirm their eye. Wherefore

years, when one may accomplish in weeks?

February 2ndVI 4. Each one has his goal. I provide the gateway fitting for the spirit. Through it one may enter into a transformed

world, where the mind dwells at home in all lands.

The spirit learns to fly when sorrow sharpens the eyesight. The ray of realization of the Infinite illumines the

bestowed good. There is the path of Earth and the path of wings. Discern and choose.

February 3rd

VIII 3. Love the solitude of thought, when the sparks of understanding weave a wreath of knowledge. And as I have

vouched for you, so entrust yourselves to Me. With the Hand of Power I affirm the path to the Heights. Apprehend the

Good when My Envoys will bring the tidings: "He has come!" The hour of happiness is ordained, and on the way there

are flowers.

February 4th

VIII 12. Be steadfast not only during the time of Communion with Me, but also when you are left to your own devices,

because only then is the resourcefulness of the spirit forged.

IX 9. Turn to the East, behold My Dawn! Beauteous is the chrism stored up in time! Precious is the flower planted in

My Hour! Do not spill the chalice of My Hour! The Miracle comes!

III 17. Resolve to act in calmness, bearing in mind that Our spring flows through you incessantly. And when you ask

yourselfwhere are They Who made promises?We are standing behind you; and We rejoice, measuring the growth of

the flower of your aura. We rejoice because this is Our Garden. Beyond bounded vistas the Light unites the hearts.

February 9th

IV 5. Simplicity, beauty and fearlessnessChrist and Buddha spoke of nothing more. And it is a blessing if the spirit

vibrates to these covenants.

February 10thV 8. Know how to meet the waves of life in beauty.

VII 7. One must know that amidst spirituality the realization of beauty lives but rarely. A sound understanding of

beauty is the rarest quality, and will be valued by the Lords above many things.

It is better to approach the great with difficulty than to master the small with ease.

By a series of historical examples We will show the path of evolution.

IX 10. Friends! Place four stones into the foundation of your actions: FirstReverence of Hierarchy. Second

Realization of unity. ThirdRealization of co-measurement. FourthApplication of the canon, "By thy God."

IX 11. You may have noted in My Words cryptic passages or separate words not clear for today. Remember, guidance

is on condition that karma be not infringed upon.

The understanding of Good must prompt one how to put milestones along the road.

X 3. Joyously quivers the air of the hour before dawn, the hour when Buddha cognized the greatness of Cosmos, and

when the Lord Christ prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.

XI 1. Christ taught compassion, yet trampled is the law of love. Gotama, called Buddha, besought courage and energy,

yet His followers surrendered to laziness. Confucius taught about an orderly system of government, yet his followers

have succumbed to bribery and corruption.

February 16th

XII 2. The Blessed One said: "Truth is the sole source of courage." The truth correctly understood is the most beautiful

chapter of wisdom in the book of Cosmos.

I 4. Benevolence and austerity are one and the same concept. Formerly We sent the olive branch of peace. Formerly the

dove was Our symbol; now it is the chalice of achievement.

Yes, each age has its symbol.

February 18th

II 2. 2. They will ask: "What kind of heaven is yours?" Answer: "The heaven of toil and struggle." Out of toil is born

invincibility; out of struggle, beauty.Yes, even today I said that I Myself come! Indeed My arrows fly into My Country, and multicolored sprouts await the

gardeners.

February 19th

II 4. As I send you each shield, so must you make use of each moment. Not for a reward and not because of fear do you

go forward, but because of a realization of the Cosmic beauty.

February 20th

II 16. Every moment We are ready to give the bread of life to him who will choose the same path of vigilance of the

spirit. My Ray can illumine the actions of the spirit.

February 21st

II 18. Who then are My people? Those who do not feel any place to be their home; those who do not attach any value toobjects; who love to ascend mountains; who love the singing of birds; who value the air of the morning hour; who value

action more than time; who understand flowers; who display fearlessness without noticing it; who abhor gossip; who

esteem the manifestation of the joy of beauty; who understand the life beyond the limits of the visible; who feel when one

can partake of Amrita; who hasten to fulfill the prophecy. These, My people, can use My Power.

February 22nd

II 20. There is an Oriental riddle: "What is it that likes to be buried?" Answer: "A seed."

Precisely, the seed of a plant must be buried in the ground, but when it begins to come to life it grows only upward.

February 23rd

IV 1. Prayer is the realization of eternity. In prayer there is beauty, love, daring, courage, self-sacrifice, steadfastness,

aspiration. But if in the prayer are included superstition, fear and doubt, then such an invocation is related to the times of

fetishism.

How then should one pray? One can spend hours in aspiration, but there may be a prayer of lightning speed. Then

instantaneously, without words, man places himself in continuity with the whole chain into the Infinite. Resolving to

unite with the Infinite, man inhales emanations of the ether, as it were, and without mechanical repetitions establishes the

best circuit for the current. Thus, in silence, without wasting time, one can receive a stream of refreshment.

Only developed spirituality can uplift the human consciousness in a single sigh.

February 24th

V1. In Beauty will Infinity be manifested. In Beauty the teachings of the Seekers of the spirit are illumined. In Beauty

we do not fear to manifest the truth of freedom. In Beauty do we kindle radiance in every drop of water. In Beauty do we

transform matter into a rainbow.

There is no ugliness which will not be engulfed in the rays of the rainbow. There are no fetters which will not

disintegrate in the freedom of Beauty.How shall we find the words to approach the concept of the universe? How shall we tell about the evolution of forms?

How to uplift the consciousness to the study of fundamentals? How to stimulate humanity to scientific cognition of the

worlds?

Each realization is born in Beauty.

Know how to think radiantly, and nothing terrifying will touch you. Remember, We have no forbiddances.

There is nothing more beautiful than sunrise and the sun rises in the East!

V 13. People are attracted by beauty and by luminous knowledge. Only that Teaching which contains all hope, which

makes life beautiful, which manifests action, can promote true evolution.

V 18. An unmistakable sign of Our Call is when you are borne irresistibly, as if on wings. Thus accept Our Community

of Knowledge and Beauty. And be assured that, although one can search every mountain gorge, an uninvited visitor will

not find the way.

February 28th

VI 19. Each thought about the Common Good is persecuted unmercifully, whereas only growth of the individual spirit

can fill the treasury of the General Welfare. This conformity of the individual spirit with the world Common Weal also

constitutes the Beauty of the Cosmos.

If each plant has its own irreplaceable individuality, then how particularly must each human spirit be dealt with. Such

tremor of sensitiveness must be a sign of Our disciples, and then without a word, through a simple contact, can light be

shed.And not only by day but also by night one can be in contact and can bring the help of enlightenment.

Be illumined through expansion of consciousness. As voyagers afar, accumulate knowledge through the rainbow

pollen of the whole world.

March 1st

4. The seed of labor withers without the moisture of reciprocity. Let us not look backward too much. We hastening

fellow-travelers shall become weary if we jostle each other. We shall realize a beautiful meaning if we can introduce the

great conceptfriend. Community may consist only of friends.

March 2nd

8. Cooperation must be based upon sound rules. This teaches orderliness; that is, it helps the acquirement of a rhythm.

Thus even in daily work are expressed the great laws of the Universe. It is especially needed to become accustomed from

childhood to continuous labor. Let the better evolution be built upon labor as the measure of value.

March 3

10. A lofty quality will enter into pure labor through love of a favorite craft. A beautiful quality will be affirmed

throughout life. Nothing will remain in darkness. Ignorance will be a shameful offence. Darkness is infectious but Light

is attractive. Hence, let us affirm the love of a favorite craft, which uplifts the life.

Science should indicate the best quality. Science should attract the strongest energies. Let the knowledge of the spirit

shine over every workbench.

March 4th

12. There should be instilled respect for craftsmanship, in order that it be understood as a higher distinction. Ancient

working community-guilds left testimony of their vitality. One can see how people cultivated their skills toward

perfection. They knew how to shield each other and how to guard the dignity of their community. So long as people do

not learn to defend the merit of their fellow-workers they will not achieve the happiness of Common Good.

March 5th

22. One may reach Us only in harmonious agreement. We need not deification but a certain quality of spirit, as a lamp of

concordant tension. A flickering lamp is unbearable for prolonged work. The same laws apply in everything, and

according to the law of justice a flickering lamp injures itself. I counsel My lamps not to blink. The dynamo is not

damaged because of the quality of the lamps, but uncoordinated voltage often results in a grievouszing! And the basicmetal must be provided anew. The laws are identical in everything.

March 6th

23. There is no soulless justice, but only shining goalfitness. Indeed, the glorious goalfitness cannot tyrannize, but reveals

the gates of beauty. And the call of goalfitness fills the space with the rapture of victory. Events and creations constituting

goalfitness are not small outworn fragments but are the precious parts of the Cosmos.

March 7th

27. Pure thought saturated with beauty points out the path to truth. The interdictions and the prescripts of renunciation in

the Teachings were given in condescension toward a limited consciousness. But a broadened consciousness frees man

from many fetters and affirms progress. Adorned lives allow departing freely and generously in order to return as victors.

He who proceeds with a consciousness of beauty cannot be confused. Only confusion can bar the way.

March 8th

27. It is not quite correct to say that beauty will save the world. It is more accurate to say that the realization of beauty

will save the world.

One can walk through obstacles of ugliness toward a beacon of beauty, scattering seeds without number. When one

can create a garden of beauty there is nothing to fear. There is no weariness when the garden of the spirit admits the

newcomers.

March 9th

29. The teaching of the New world will solve all discomforts. Verily, only the shield of the Community can give meaning

to the sojourn on Earth. How indescribably beautiful it is to think about cooperation with the far-off worlds. This

cooperation, begun consciously, will draw into the orbit of communication new worlds. And this heavenly cooperative

will broaden its possibilities infinitely.

March 10th

29. Harkening of the spirit will bring the first tidings; not for master degrees, but for life which forges evolution. The

Teaching can point out to the sensitive ones-on awakening, remember the far-off worlds; on going to sleep, remember the

far-off worlds.

March 11th

30. It is one thing to discuss abstractly distant worlds; it is another to realize oneself a participant there. Only he who has

not closed for himself the path to beauty may understand how near to him is the manifestation of the far-off worlds.

The ear can catch fragments of the Great Breath, but the knowledge of the spirit gives man a place in Infinity.

March 12th

31. I direct you to keep the Teaching simple; not necessary are complicated expressions, for life is beautiful in simplicity.Often one is obliged to dig around a plant, therefore repetitions are unavoidable.

March 13th

35. What kind of mobility can the spirit manifest on the surface of the Earth? What thoughts can it share with and upon

the earthly sphere?

It is asked why We waste so much energy over the Earth. Not for the sake of Earth, but for rectifying the path. When

a criminal rips up the rails, often the engineer takes much time to repair them. If We could immediately transfer from the

Earth those who have consciousness of the Cosmos, could there possibly be any restraining Our wish to do so? Our

striving is to hasten this process. I feel that perhaps soon cosmic conditions will permit the beginning of these labors for

communication with the far-off worlds. In this, all considerations of beauty, and of impetuousness in personal sending,

are needed. It is true, above so-called beauty there is the all-embracing concept of the betterment of the Cosmos. The

rainbow ray can exceed the imagination. A silvery light marks the beginning of the rainbow. The rainbow viewed under

earthly conditions resembles make-up at close range. Few can have a prescience of the supermundane rainbow.

March 14th

42. The gardener knows when it is time to gather the flowers, for he planted the seeds now hidden.

March 15th

44. The essence of striving to the far-off worlds is contained in the assimilation of a consciousness of our life in them.

The possibility of life on them becomes for our consciousness, as it were, a channel of approach. Indeed, this

consciousness must be dug through as a channel. People are able to swim, yet a considerable portion of them do not

swim. Such an obvious fact as the far-off worlds completely fails to attract humanity. It is time to cast this seed into the

human brain.

Those who are unfortunate and without kin may more easily accept this thought. Earthly fetters are not so lasting for

them. In the worst position of all are people provided with comforts.

March 16th

58. You already know the usefulness of obstacles; you already know the advantage of disappointments. There can even

be a usefulness of terrors. Indeed for Us and for you there are no terrors in the usual sense. On the contrary, a terror

without fear is transformed into an act of cosmic beauty.Is it possible to think about beauty without a chord of rapture?

March 17th

60. Much can be forgiven him who even in darkness has preserved the concept of the Teacher. The Teacher uplifts the

dignity of the spirit. We liken the concept of the Teacher to a lamp in the darkness. Therefore, the Teacher may be called

a beacon of responsibility. The bonds of the Teaching are like a saving rope in the mountains. The Teacher is revealed

from the moment of kindling of the spirit. From that moment on the Teacher is inseparable from the disciple.

March 18th

75. Truly one may look forward to the fulfillment of all prophecies. I do not see the dates being altered. Think through the

film of events, and comprehend how unimportant is the exterior; only the inner significance is vital. The sowing of

generations begins to sprout; the seed is beginning to shoot up.

March 19th

82. On the day of beginning the new step let us speak without reproach about the great times when we learn to break

away from the earth and already in the body become associated with the Higher Worlds.

My Word must affirm you in the beauty of achievement. Facing the path, let us abandon the rules of actions; let us

again gather the consciousness above the firmament. It is beautiful to have already the subtle body and find the spirit no

more troubled before distant flights. Therefore, let us rejoice at each movement on the crust of Earth-let us learn, as it

were, to fly therein.

To flywhat a beautiful word! In it is already contained the pledge of our destination. When matters are grave, think

about flights; let each one think about wings. I send to the daring ones all the currents of space!

March 20th

84. Only a tested consciousness understands the value of the seed of reality. Rulership is not in crowns nor in crowds, butis in the cosmic expanse of ideas. Thus, the Teachings of life complement each other, having no need to attract

multitudes.

March 21st

91. Maintain pure air in your dwellings, project to those who come best wishes, and await Us intently. Let each

community await its Teacher, for a community and a Teacher constitute the ends of one and the same column. Even in

daily trifles it is necessary to remember the foundation of the house. Again we arrive at the necessity of altering the

quality of the consciousness; then the transition is easy.

97. Remember the treasure of the consciousness. Tremor of the substance of the Cosmos manifests the pulsation of the

awakened consciousness. Indeed, the rainbow of knowledge flows out of the tremor of the consciousnessa visible

stream from an invisible source.

Through all experiences of the past and all attainments of the future, remember about the consciousness.

March 23rd

104. Each school must be a complete educational unit. In schools there must be a useful museum in which the pupilsthemselves take part. There must be a cooperative, and the pupils must also be taught such cooperation. All phases of art

must be included. Without the paths of beauty there can be no education.

March 24th

108. The school will teach respect for useful inventions, but will warn against a machine slavery. All forms of slavery

will be destroyed as signs of darkness. The teacher will be a guiding tutor-a friend who points out a shorter and better

path. Not the process of compulsion, but the smile of summons.

March 25th

110. Among the school subjects let there be taught the fundamentals of astronomy, but let it be presented as the gateway

to the far-off worlds. Thus schools will stimulate the first thoughts about life in the far-off worlds. Space will become

alive, astro-chemistry and rays will round out the presentation of the magnitude of the Universe. Young hearts will feel

not as ants upon the earth's crust, but as bearers of spirit responsible for the planet. Let us fix our attention on schools, forfrom them will issue the affirmation of cooperation. There will be no construction without cooperation. There will be no

security of state and union while outworn egoism holds sway.

March 26th

116. Shield children from everything false; guard them against worthless music; protect them from obscenity; protect

them from false competitions; protect them from affirmation of selfhood. The more so, since it is necessary to inculcate a

love for incessant learning. The muscles must not gain the upper hand over mind and heart. What sort of heart takes a

liking to blows of the fist?

March 27th

122. Plants reach out toward the light-this law of primary consciousness is immutable. Proceed by the path of

immutability and build life! There is nothing abstract, and life absorbs each thought. Therefore be realists of true reality.

March 28th

152. Day and night Our coworkers are prepared for all the scintillation of the Cosmos. In their readiness they will pass

invisibly by day and will find at night the radiant path. Nothing will alarm you when you are constantly alert. The

character of the seeker does not permit the ship to be ice-bound.

March 29th

156. It can be seen that the path of those who bear a mission is not a restful one.

But the World Community is built with human hands and feet, and therein lies the beauty of the construction. Yet

rarely in the cities does the messenger of the Community meet with a welcome. The very soul of the city growls at him.

Indeed, the very existence of the Community is denied in the city. The very atmosphere does not permit the messenger to

take any rest.

Indeed, realization of cooperation and community goes on, but the thinking of the average citizen is sunk instagnation.

We summon those co-workers who know the difficulties. We call to those who will not turn back. We summon those

who know that joy is a special wisdom.

We may give the most arduous instructions, but Our counsels lead to rejoicing!

March 30th

228. The time has come when We shall say to each worker "You belong to Us!" The time has come when we shall

reexamine the paths and signs, starting from the stellar ones; when we shall abbreviate languages and expressions of

thought; when we shall reread the verses of antiquity for the last time.

Without superstition must we examine the milestones of the growth of humanity under the sign of the community. We

must examine how the victory of the community grew, in the kindling fires of knowledge and beauty. True knowledge

and beauty contain in themselves the best community.

We shall choose all the best and affirm that he who cognizes the best becomes a community member.

March 31st

242. What are the signs of the time of Shambhala? The signs of the age of truth and cooperation.

Trace how the word Shambhala is uttered in the East. Try to penetrate, even in a small way, into the ideology of thisconcept. Try to understand the rhythm of structure of speech about Shambhala, and you will perceive a great reality

which causes the harp-strings of humanity to vibrate. Let reason help you to ponder on the values accumulated by the best

strivings. In the book "Community" the concept of Shambhala cannot be omitted.

Friends, apprehend what a tensed and beautiful time the present is!

April 1st

28. Hatha Yoga cannot be regarded as an independent form. The growth of the spirit changes it into Raja Yoga. It is

impossible to name anybody who attained through Hatha Yoga alone. Besides, in a world of darkness and prejudice,

accomplishments through Hatha Yoga can even bring harm, by its strengthening of the astral body. The fakirs may adapt

themselves to this world of darkness and unwittingly weaken the ascent of thought. Even a person sitting quietly and

contemplating can attain further, because thought is the Raja of all that exists. Beauty is born through the lightning of

thought. Truly, a flaming Bhakti can kindle new worlds with a thought. And the step of a Jnani will be but the smile of a

Raja-Bhakti. Therefore Hatha and Jnana are not original and are insufficient. What sage of wisdom would not be the lord

of love?

April 2nd

34. Let us guard the law of life that leads up the ladder of beauty and happiness.

April 3rd

36. Each movement of consciousness must flow with the current of evolution. Each step of life must be considered as

inseparable from self-improvement. A form that has congealed can be duplicated, but in the current, no wave can be

duplicated.

Sleep or vigilance, labor or rest, motion or repose, all carry us equally toward the fulfillment of life's plan. "It is like

fallen leaves," say the timid. "It is like seeds for the sowing," say the wise. "It is like arrows of light," say the daring.

Whosoever is set affright by the roar of the torrent is not yet born in the spirit. Who soars on the wave may think of the

far-off worlds.

April 4th

48. There is an urgent need to prepare the pilgrims to understand the Teaching. The simplest act of improving life willhelp them to follow this unusual path. Usefulness will lead them to a search for beauty. Life itself will reveal the

requirements of goal-fitness. A simple explanation of a task can lend confidence to its fulfillment. Thus will they find the

easier, speedier, more useful ways of approach.

The daring of the unshackled man is not an abstraction. The courage of the bird that flies across the sea provides an

example for humanity, although no one thinks to consider the swallow a hero.

April 5th

102. Contemplate each approach to Us. Become irreplaceable. By night cover yourself with Our Name. By day gird

103. In the relation between Teacher and disciple, the Teacher can instruct only within the boundaries of what is

permitted. He uplifts the disciple, cleansing him of outworn habits. He warns him against all kinds of treason,

superstition, and hypocrisy. He tests the disciple, openly and in secret. The Teacher unbars the gates to the next step with

the words, "Rejoice, brother." He may also bar them with the words, "Farewell, passer-by."

April 7

148. Let us consider the contrast between the wisdom of Earth and that of the far-off worlds. Certainly, if the spirit has

for long been striving toward the perfection of the far-off worlds, life on Earth will be but a gathering of fragments.

All experiments in the fields of subtlest energies best occur in those hours when you are easily separated from Earth, and

are filled with an unrestrainable striving to the wisdom of the far-off worlds. Any earthly sensation appears as nought

compared with this flight into the Infinite. Yet there are times when we must strengthen the pillars of earthly wisdom. We

rejoice at the wisdom of the far-off worlds, but should not forget the earthly wisdom.

April 8th

152. The more perfect the spirit, the more infallibly it understands the deep suffering of earthly life. And yet I myself

speak again and again about joy, the joy that lies in the realization of the far-off worlds.

What does the misery of earthly life amount to when the far-off worlds have become real to us? Make haste to realize the

path to the far-off worlds. Only this broadening of the understanding of life will provide your spirit with the foundation of

the path of joy. Otherwise, about what can one rejoice? About theinevitability of reincarnation? When one lacks vision of the future, however, incarnations are only fragmentary pages

from the book of life. Animal reasoning does not need perception of the future, but mans will to knowledge impels him

to understand the change of lives. Only by such thinking does man receive the right to joy, and by striving he can

approach cooperation with the far-off worlds. Not by gazing at the sky, but through daily life will man multiply life's

riches and discover the meaning and relative value of many daily events.

April 9th

153. Everyone who has understood the fundamentals of evolution has the responsibility to transmit his knowledge to

some others. In this, the one who transmits the knowledge, whether he is great or not, is subject to the same law: he must

pass his knowledge on without violating the freedom of others. The fundamentals of evolution can be realized only

voluntarily, and can be applied in life only through the striving of the awakening spirit.

One must rebuild one's entire life for the new step in evolution. This is impossible for one who is not ready to offer

himself in spirit to earthly service. In fact, this offering is of the greatest importance for the completion of one's earthly

path. From the most ancient precepts of Vedanta We know of this principle of liberation. Facing this new step of

evolution, it is Our duty to repeat again and again about this propelling force.

April 10th

158. All preceding Yogas, given from the highest Sources, took as their basis a particular aspect of life. Now, at the dawn

of the age of Maitreya, there is needed a Yoga comprising the essence of the whole of life, all-embracing, evading

nought. One remembers the example of those unignitible youths in the biblical legend who valiantly sacrificed

themselves to the fiery furnace and thereby acquired power.

You may call this the Yoga of Life. But the most precise name will be Agni Yoga. It is precisely the element of fire that

gives its name to this Yoga of self-sacrifice. While in other Yogas the dangers are diminished through practices, in the

Yoga of Fire the perils are increased, because fire, as an all-binding element, manifests itself everywhere. But it also

permits mastery of the subtlest energies. Fire will not lead away from life; it will act as a trustworthy guide to the far-offworlds. For what but fire saturates immeasurable space?

Thus, with a smile of joy, greet the fiery life.

April 11th

161. Let us see wherein lie the similarities and differences between Agni Yoga and the preceding Yogas. Karma Yoga

has many similarities with it as far as earthly realities are concerned. But when Agni Yoga provides ways to the

realization of the far-off worlds, the difference becomes apparent. Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga are all

separate from the realities of routine life, and because of this they cannot enter into the evolution of the future. Of course,

an Agni Yogi should also be a Jnani and a Bhakti, and the development of the forces of his spirit makes him a Raja Yogi.

How beautiful is the possibility of being fit for performing the tasks of the future evolution without rejecting the past

conquests of spirit! One should not boast of bringing innovation, because only by a synthesis of the old and the new is a

renewal of possibilities attainable.

April 12th

165. The path of the hermit is not Our path. One must offer to life the flowers of experience. Besides, who would choose

for himself the easy way of an unperturbed existence? Who would choose for himself the role of spectator at a battle?

Henceforth, there should be no spectators or slumberers, because Flame is at the threshold.

April 13th

169. Agni Yoga is like the Morning Star, which heralds the approach of Light.

April 14th

178. The same unalterable Truth is given to humanity repeatedly, but clothed in various garments. Invariably, it is

distorted in less than a century by confused minds. Therefore, it is the duty of a yogi to purify Truth.

April 15th

182. The path to Yoga is open only to the one who recognizes that his knowledge is insignificant; who seldom thinks of

the distinctions bestowed upon him by others; who has not taken part in any wrongdoings of religions; who, remembering

about reincarnation, does not overvalue his earthly bloodline; who can yearly repeat the planting of his garden, smiling at

the storms that undid his past labors; who has lost the ability to slander; who has aimed his striving search toward theInvisible Supreme; who has rejected the companionship of all betrayers of Truth; and who has encircled himself with

purity of thinking, which produces an invincible aura.

Truly, I say, the Agni Yogi must receive his merited place on Earth and above, for he has enveloped himself in the

subtlest element.

April 16th

210. It is said that a yogi has no desires; actually, he is filled with striving. A desire is not active, because it creates

expectation, and expectation is the mother of passivity. Striving, on the other hand, is a generator of motion, leading to

ascent of the spirit. It is said that the yogi knows no love; but in truth, he is full of compassion. People think of love only

as constricting bonds. But compassion is boundless, a co-worker of Truth. It is said that a yogi is endowed with

inexhaustible powers; however, like a diligent gardener, he must tend his own plants in the garden of opportunities.

April 17th

219. What can one call an Agni Yogi? Certainly, a supporter of Truth. The perceiving of Truth is as natural to the Yogi as

light is to fire. The growth of sensitivity in a yogi cannot be described; it sharpens the five known senses, and also the

seven senses related to the astral body, which can only rarely reverberate within the earthly shell, like a resonator. Thus,

one should pay great attention to the feelings of an Agni Yogi. From them comes Truth, like light from a flame.

April 18th

224. The subtle body of the yogi, when liberated, visits different planes of existence. Flights into space and descents into

the depths of the planet are equally possible. A study of planetary cataclysms will provide an understanding of the

stratifications of life. It can be observed how animals became fossilized when caught in a mineral flow. When moving

through the subterranean channels, the yogi can see to what extent the foundations of our planet have become worn out.

Thus the spirit of the yogi becomes familiar with the conditions of ancient formations, and afterward nothing can appear

to him as stable or complete. Such a realization is needed for the progress of the spirit. A striving toward perfection willcome through an understanding of imperfection.

April 19th

225. One must not delay until tomorrow the planting of a new garden; only immediately and without delay can one

strengthen the nursery of consciousness. The gardener studies each new root found in his garden. And for the yogi, each

thread of consciousness will be a thread to the far-off worlds.

226. A yogi in his labors is like a stonecutter, or a goldsmith fashioning the most delicate work. A yogi is indeed like a

goldsmith, who can fashion with the finest touch an intricate design.

April 21st

233. Certainly a yogi is the very opposite of a magician. A magician stands on petrified formulas. A yogi constantly

inhales the fresh new breath of Cosmos. The one is old at birth; the other is always young, throughout all changes in his

life. The one attempts to strike with words not of his own making; the other smites with his free thought. The one defends

himself with pitiful pinpricks; the other is shielded just by the armor of his glance. Yoga has nothing in common with

magic.

April 22nd

259. Many concepts should be considered in the light of yoga. Can one live without desire when even the spirit is

incarnated by desire? Desires are like sparks igniting motion. Then what does it mean to say that a yogi is free of desire?

Let us take the precise meaning of the words: a yogi is free, not from desires as such but from their burden. He knows

himself to be free because he is not a slave to desire. On the path of goal-fitness, a yogi, applying co-measurement,

relinquishes desires in the name of the most essential. This ability to change easily is at the core of the yogi's liberation.

Nothing hinders his progress.

It is precisely the inert, stillborn desires that become the chains of bondage for humanity. It is people who chain

themselves with such bonds. Either incaution or the karma of others brings on the infection of desire, and a person,

instead of progressing, loses all ability to change.

Desire can be worms and chains, or sparks and wings. The liberated one soars in realization. The one enslaved wails in

despair.

April 23rd

260. Many indestructible concepts have been distorted, and they must be restored to their true meaning. This is so for the

understanding of solitude. Nowhere is it said that a yogi must be physically alone, but for him solitude of spirit is

inevitable. Consecrating himself, the yogi grows the crystal of his individuality. And the more generously he gives, the

more he remains untouched.

He who gives is indestructible as flame! He who fills himself with light is striving toward light!

April 24th

275. Vedanta correctly states that the spirit remains inviolable. The fiery seed of the spirit maintains its elementary

wholeness, because the essence of the elements is immutable. But the emanations of the seed change with the growth of

consciousness. One should understand that the seed of the spirit is a fragment of the element of fire, and the energy

accumulated around it is consciousness. This means that Vedanta concerned itself mainly with the seed, whereas

Buddhism spoke of the perfectment of its enveloping bodies. Thus do the changeable and the unchanging coexist.

It is quite understandable that Buddha, Who directed humanity toward evolution, taught the nature of that which changes,

whereas Vedanta expounded the unchanging foundation. You can add any chemical ingredient to a flame and thereby

change its color and size, but the essential nature of the fire will remain unchanged. I do not see any contradiction

between the basic principles of Vedanta and Buddhism.

April 25th

287. Mahayana is to Hinayana as Buddhism is to Vedanta. Mahayana knows and reveals the nature of the world of the

elements. Hinayana emphasizes karmic causes and effects without concerning itself with the immediate consequences of

causes. The Teaching strikes sparks from the chaos of the elements. One may study these images, but it is equally correct

to concentrate on cause and effect. If we call Buddha the Cause, then Maitreya is the Effect.

April 26th

361. There are two kinds of logic: the logic of external reasoning, which one attempts to learn from textbooks, and that of

mental synthesis, by which one collects and links the sparks of spatial thought. These sparks may seem to be a happy

accident, even though this "accident" may have been ripening in space for an entire century. The broadened

consciousness provides the best possibility of grasping the nodes of spatial thought.

Of course, from the point of view of external reasoning, apparent lapses in the processes of mental synthesis can always

be found. As rings of the spiral show to the observer the outer turns and conceal the inner turns, so mental logic proceeds

according to the limits of the outer turns while the inner turns are still merged in the streams of collective thought in

space. Hence, We take such care about the broadening of the consciousness, in order that union with spatial thought may

be approached.

This must be accepted as simply as is the vital importance of oxygen. Equally simple should be the idea of the spiral

nature of all that exists, and of creative explosions. Thus the breath of the Cosmos will be realized as an ascending spiral.

April 27th

403. It is essential not to mislead newcomers into thinking that the Teaching of Agni Yoga is easy. Truly, it is not easy,

for there is much tension and danger in it. No one should be seduced by the idea of honeyed ease. Gaining mastery of the

fires is a slow process. Premature and hasty steps threaten the striving one with conflagration. What seemed to be a highachievement is later seen as low, when one is on the next step.

April 28th

414. The Teaching of Agni Yoga demands continuous ardor. Sometimes respite from outer fiery manifestations is

needed, but the inner flame is never extinguished. The ever-burning inner fire is pointed out in many Teachings as a step

on the path of realization. One should accustom oneself to the manifestation of ever-present fire. An indication from

without can never provide a true impetus. The inner flame burns like a bonfire. It is unworthy to suppress it.

April 29th

546. Fundamental and irreplaceable is the element of fire. Similarly without substitute is psychic energy. The most self-

sufficient, the most refined, the most upthrusting energy is the true Daughter of Fire! Not without reason do We call you

to the Fiery Conqueress. Every manifestation of enthusiasm precipitates a particle of the treasure. Each exaltation before

nature and Beauty gathers the seeds of light and creates a ray of victory. Long ago I said, "Through Beauty thou hastLight." Is it possible that We say this only to give pleasure? Each Indication has undeniable and urgent importance. Thus,

enthusiasm will be the shortest way to the accumulation of psychic energy.

More than once you will be asked where is the nursery that produces the beautiful garden of fiery energy. You will say,

"In the joy of Beauty." But learn how to embrace this joy of Light. Learn how to rejoice at each leaf awakened to life.

Learn how to respond within your centers to the call of joy. Learn to understand that such joy is not idleness but the

harvesting of the treasure. Learn to accumulate energy through joy, for with what else shall we weave the threads of the

far-off worlds?

April 30th

668. Of all principles leading to the broadening of consciousness, the principle of Hierarchy is the most powerful. Each

manifested change is based upon it. Whither can the spirit direct itself without the Guiding Hand? Where can the eye and

the heart turn without Hierarchy, when the Giving Hand of the Hierarch affirms the flow of destiny, and when the Hand

of the Hierarch directs one to the best manifested date, and one becomes familiar with even the highest energies?

Therefore, the seed of the spirit becomes imbued with the Cosmic Ray of the Hierarch. Since the most powerful principle

contains in itself the potentiality of fire, the pure Fire of the spirit of the Hierarch is affirmed as the highest principle.

Thus shall we remember our spiritual Leaders. Thus shall we revere the Law of Hierarchy.

669. "How, then, O Lord, to spread Thy Teaching? How, then, O Lord, to find those for whom it is predestined to apply

Thy Word for fulfillment?"

And the Lord said in reminder, "A hermit searched for one to whom to entrust the Revelation. And he took the scroll and

placed it at the crossroad, 'Let the Supreme One Himself point out who should find His Teaching.' "

Infinity I

Foreword:

Is it worth while to speak of Infinity if it is unattainable? But it does exist; and everything great, even if invisible,

compels us to think about the ways to it. Thus, even now let us ponder about the ways into Infinity; for it exists, and it is

terrifying if it is not cognized. But even in the earthly life one can approach and can temper the spirit toward acceptance

of the unfathomable.

Ponder to what extent you can understand My language and express it in your tongue. Similarly understand your

reciprocative feelings and express them in the language of your heart. This language of understanding and sympathy will

open the first Gates to Infinity.

May 1st

1. Humanity is distressed because of lost currents, but its explanations of the shiftings on Earth and of the manifestations

of cosmic perturbations are geological. Despite these explanations, the factual evidence, the manifestations of fiery,

subterranean, and supermundane currents, reveal to the world the concept of Infinity. The rays of the supermundane

spheres can penetrate the crust of Earth and induce in any part of the planet intensified magnetism evoking subterranean

currents.

Your astronomers are concerned with the measurements of the luminaries only, but how greatly the science of fiery

rays and Infinity would enrich our being! Even the ray of the eye creates and smites! The preordained date begins to bring

closer a new planet from Infinity. Therefore, observe the earthly perturbations. But the dimensions of the planetary bodies

are not important, for the intensity of the cosmic rays from Infinity, through our relativity, together with your psychic

energy and the cooperation of the spheres, can create an earthly realm equal to the spheres of the higher worlds.

May 2nd

2. Where the earthly crust ends for geologists it begins for Us. Impregnated with the emanations of your actions and

saturated with the crystals of darkness of human thought, this crust presents a resistance harder than flint. But through the

ceaseless striving of thought this dense sphere, which holds Earth tightly in its clutches, can disperse like a thin vapor.

Should we not dissolve these accumulations, when we may choose between the thread into Infinity or a pile of

obstructions?

Verily, My advice is that you become imbued with the realization of Infinity. Prana is saturated with power; try to

extract its gifts! With one sigh one can surpass the labor of ages, but one glance of denial can erase a pattern preordained

by ages.

May 3rd

25. Verily, man is the highest manifestation of Cosmos. Verily, he is chosen as the predestined builder and collector of all

treasures of the Universe. Verily, the term "man" means the affirmation of creativeness. Long ago was the key entrustedto man, but when revelation illumined him there appeared the extinguishers of the fires.

This question has troubled many consciousnesses. It is difficult to deny the almighty Mind of Cosmos, which suffuses all

strata of the firmament with its Breath.

32. In ancient times the symbols of religions were drawn from the treasury of Cosmos. The cults assigned a purpose to

the "Creator" of Cosmos. The degeneration of the loftiest cosmic images is symbolized in our denials. But there where

the principle of the element of Fire is still venerated the consciousness of the primeval spirit has become already

affirmed. Only cognition and the rational acceptance of limitless cosmic forces will teach humanity the means of their

application.

May 6th

38. When man built his dwellings upon the lake shores and hewed them out of the rocks, he subordinated the world tohimself and proudly dominated it. Now the same man dominates, but, having been enriched by all manner of subtle

means, he has progressed toward an understanding of the riches of Space.

The word

materialism has assumed a monstrous significance. And yet, materialism should be based upon the all-pervading

substance of the power of the Infinite. Why this perversion of cosmic power? The symbol of the Mother of the World,

giving form and purpose to the entire Breath of Cosmos, transforming the kernel into incalculable manifestations, crowns

our Earth with beauty.

May 7th

41. The acquirement of the cooperation of cosmic forces brings us closer to the source of atomic energy. Our science can

reach the tension of this energy if only the explosion of consciousness will occur. Much can be derived from the complex

cosmic combinations. Earthly concepts are garbed in uniform manifestations or in prejudice. Commune with the Infinite

and be a part of it, part of all the beauty of cosmic energy. We shall untiringly repeat about the energy of Infinity.When humanity will understand the sparks of fohat and accept the countless manifestations of matter not yet in the

state of cohesion, then will the new formulae be manifested. Half of the manifestations of cosmic forces await humanity

in Eternity. Why not utilize all the powers of radioactivity and all radiations of the myriads of rays!

What remains for our planet to extract from the Primary Source is evident through the conception of Infinity. Our

planet is stratified and permeated by the properties of cosmic fires; and man, as a magician, can propel his magnetic

power according to his desire. He can express his striving through the tension of his psychic energy directed into Space.

Clarity of thought gives impetus to this direction. We are not speaking of magic formulae, but We wish to direct your

spirit toward the limitless possibilities. The belief that all is illusion results in curtailment of one's self-expression.

Cosmogony and astro-chemistry are as applicable as are geography and history. Could you but know what the Lords have

seen, you would find understanding of the immensity of non-concatenated matter. Not the mystery of a temple, but the

Sacrament of Infinity!

May 8th

44. When We summon to the far-off worlds, it is not for a detachment from life but for a discovery of new ways. Only in

realizing participation in Infinity may one reach the upper spheres. If we trace the development of the human spirit from

the very primitive forms, we will perceive that the variety of forms of the primary spirits branch out into corresponding

manifestations. One may call the forms of the present day forms aspiring toward perfection. The forms of the future

correspond to the far-off worlds. Having deprived itself of the knowledge of cosmic vistas, humanity has dissociated

itself from the manifestations of Infinity and has lost the thread of unity with the beauty of life and with cosmic energy.

This cleavage is cruel, and the lost thread turns into a thin cobweb of reality.

We, the Brothers of Humanity, know that there exists a great unembellished and indestructible Reality. Affirm

yourselves in the acceptance of the great beauty of Infinity!

Let the far-off worlds live in the consciousness of men as a wondrous kingdom. This is just as indisputable and just as

real as the fact that a growing seed gives birth to a flower. The far-off worlds are interpreted only as something

illustrative of the concept of distance. But let us regard the far-off worlds-the life there is affirmed in beauty and instriving for achievement; there are the fires of spirit; there is the fire of love; there the seeming excrescences of Earth are

transformed into creations of Fire. The fires of the spirit carry knowledge that the passing of the present and the striving

into the better future will be the ladder upon which we shall ascend.

We, the Brothers of Humanity, sound the summons to the far-off worlds!

May 9th

61. He who considers himself condemned to eternal labor bars spiritually his path to Infinity. Only he who realizes the

beauty of the chosen path can acquire the Spatial Fire. The formula of keeping pace with Cosmos in accelerated rhythm

will afford the best understanding of life.

The far-off worlds are our manifested path. The far-off worlds are our enlightenment. The far-off worlds are our

vistas of the mighty vision of the Mother of the World. The human spirit seeking expansion finds the manifested far-off

worlds. Let us say that the unattainable may become attainable and that privation may become wealth. Therefore, let us

direct our will to Infinity, in all its beauty.

May 10th

73. In rejecting responsibility, man deprives himself of a most wonderful feeling and of a personal, affirmed, creative

force. Man, transmuting the fires of Space into forms, cannot cast aside his responsibility. Each form created in Cosmoswill correspond to the form of the spirit. All generated forms will correspond to the forms created by the spirit in its

ceaseless striving toward perfection. The feeling of responsibility must raise the cosmic creativeness.

When the spirit develops in the direction of Infinity, then the feeling of responsibility acquires the power manifested

by the Creators of Cosmos. Begin to realize personal responsibility and strive toward cosmic responsibility. There is the

step of personal responsibility, the step of responsibility for human thought, the step of responsibility for human

evolution, the step of responsibility for a better future. When thinking will be perfected, it will be possible to say that the

time of construction of a better future is near.

In Cosmos lives that power of reason which is called the cosmic rhythm, and the whole of human life depends on the

cycle of this rhythm. But let us assume that the cycle, which generates reciprocally with the Cosmos, has been affirmed,

and that the psychic energy is defining the current of evolution.

The mutual interrelation of responsibility is limitless.

May 11th82. The Cosmic Fire and its energies, which permeate all that exists, manifest affinities in everything, but these affinities

are not limited to the elements and their combinations. Indeed, the affinity of predestined lives is great, and Be-ness and

Infinity are the causes behind the functions of each element, as well as the vital functions of each combination. The drive

of cosmic energy in each element is there to insure its entrance into the eternal creative process. The affinity of elements

can open the conception of limitless possibilities.

Knowledge of the functioning of affinity, and knowledge of the functions of elements of the Universe in relation to

the organism of man, will make of us cosmic co-workers. The existence of cosmic affinity is the most beautiful page of

life. The study of the properties of the elements as they apply to humanity will bring the science of harmonization. The

higher worlds know this higher science.

If one would pay attention to the elements as one does to many other manifestations of life, then, anteceding

spirituality, one could find a definition of the manifestation of the pure vital principle. Striving toward the understanding

of the affinity of elements will lend joy to existence. Manifest striving!

May 12th

83. Through affinity, the spirit retracts within itself all joy and reflects a whole rainbow. Cosmic affinity predestines a

merging for every atom. But the higher law, the sacred law, is not for many. On the far-off worlds, in the process of

higher functions of refined organisms, this Sacrament is affirmed by the law of Cosmos.

The vibration of the seed of the spirit guides the affirmation-and, I shall add, unerringly. The beauty of union affords

to thought the way. In the seed of the spirit lives the realization of beauty and knowledge. The nature of the higher union

vouches for better worlds. The very best picture of earthly welfare is but a pale shadow in comparison with the joy of

cosmic union.

The greatest creativeness can be made manifest when sound can radiate and color can ring out. Then can the spheres

resound in a higher harmony. This Sacrament will evince the highest principle. But the spirit aspires, and the principle

will be but a higher cognition.

May 13th

86. Man determines his own destination in Cosmos. To say that destination is but the flow of evolution is to make man a

ball of fate. Fate, Cosmos, Infinity-define it as you will, but the assertion that man is carried along by the tide of evolution

without the participation of his will means separating him from Cosmos.

I say that the spirit, in its kernel, has a predestined infinite path in Cosmos. The tendency to dissociate oneself from

the affirmed path becomes the way which carries the spirit off into space. In the kernel of spirit we shall find that path

which leads into Infinity.

353. Humanity should ponder over how it is clothing its monad. With what is this eternal seed being wrapped? People

dwell too little upon this problem. Along the stretch of each round, one should trace the current of karma and its reaction.

The predestined follows as a result of the accumulations gathered by the past deeds. These wrappings can stifle the voice

of the seed, and the path of life can alter the preordained manifestation. The cosmic seed inherent in each being should be

clothed with great care by humanity. Upon the aspiring seed is evolution built. And unlimited is the path of the power of

the seed!

May 15th

354. The highest raiment for the monad is attained in pure Fire. If the monad can be encircled by Fire, it means that it can

attain the highest spheres.

The Agni Yogi and the Arhat both clothe their monads with Materia Lucida. When the fiery centers transmute life,

We say that the spirit is striving toward ascent. The law of fiery ascent is immutable. When the striving of the Cosmic

seed ceases to show pulsation, then the energy of life has ceased to exist. The psychic energy is closely linked with the

cosmic seed. Hence, when the pulsations of the seed are stilled, the afflux of psychic energy ceases. But when the fire of

the seed is active, the psychic energy has a powerful pulsation. The fiery centers pulsate with the Cosmos; hence, the

centers of the Agni Yogi create in response to all currents. Invisibly, powerfully, the fires of the Agni Yogi create, and the

records of the creativeness of Fire are inexhaustible.

May 16th

372. The symbol of Fire is found in all Teachings, and in Cosmos Fire is affirmed as the manifestation of life. Thesubstance of Fire is so radiant that it is impossible to define and describe it. The Cosmic Breath is the Fire of Space. All

cosmic manifestations are permeated with Fire and human thought is Fire. Thought gives form; thought gives direction;

thought gives life; thought imparts creativeness; thought imparts the attraction of a drawing magnet.

When the spirit kindles its fires, thought creates through the accretion of Materia Lucida. Cosmic thought is comprised in

the fiery communion. The Spatial Fire contains the striving energies. Cosmic Fire is boundless in its saturations and its

manifestations. Thus, the Cosmic Fire strives with the Cosmic Magnet!

Infinity II

May 17th

29. How ominous is the new time, how beautiful is the new time! The purification of space is intensified by the fiery

torch. The striving torches of the Agni Yogi imbue the space, and the action of the affirmed shifting of the Cosmic

Magnet begins to be felt. In the process of assembling a new race, and at the foundation of the New Era, the

manifestations of the affirmed purifications take place along with the explosions. Only the cognition of the fire of Space

will give humanity the understanding of the essence. Thus is the cosmic life built. Therefore, when the spirit of the people

is saturated with Fire, purification is inevitable. The Agni Yogi creates like a fiery torch and propels the consciousness

forward. Without these fires it is impossible to shift the consciousness. I so attest. Yes, yes, yes!

The time approaches for the final reckoning. The shifting proceeds; therefore the planet is atremble. Hence, the

sensitive organism of the Agni Yogi feels it. The sensitive organism of the Agni Yogi knows that wondrous step. Since

the ominous time is governed by the Magnet, it may be said that pure fire is transmuting the forms. I so attest!

May 18th

55. When we approach the ominous hour, all forces must be strained for the mighty step. It has already been told that theEpoch of Maitreya is approaching, and the signs are strewn as fiery seeds; hence, the ominous hour will be one of Light

for those who are in step with the Cosmic Magnet. Hence, the ominous hour will be as a future Light for those who battle

for the significance of the Epoch of Maitreya. Hence, cooperation with Us brings the predestined victory. Therefore, the

co-workers who walk in self-denial will be victors. Proceeding in step with the Cosmic Magnet, you affirm victory! Yes,

yes, yes!

May 19th

95. The Teaching of the East regarding Yoga is incomprehensible to the Western mind, and the heart does not sense its

beauty. Hence, the evidence of nonunderstanding bars the approach to the future. It is essential to affirm the new

approach to the future. It is essential to affirm the new approach by means of the acceptance of the concept of the

Teacher.

How can one reject this most beautiful concept! And what a loss to humanity there is in the deferment of dates! The

coming of threatening times will bring many to their senses and will affirm a new beginning.

May 20th

116. Humanity has given great emphasis to the concept of Guardian Angels. When thought can sense the proximity of a

spirit from other spheres, why not accept the Image of the One who guides the destiny? When humanity will realize Hispower, it will cognize the significance of the true Guardians. The Guardian of Spirit, the Guardian of Truth, is the One

who directs our steps into the Cosmic Space. Man can think about Guardians. Thus, a spirit close to Us can sense the

Guardians in the Cosmic Space. Hence, creativeness of the spirit brings one to the close Guardians. Thus, let the strivings

to the Guardians be maintained upon all paths. Sensitive receptivity affords striving to the Guardians.

May 21st

118. The great purpose in Our actions is to aid humanity in the shiftings of consciousness. Our disciples are appointed as

such helpers. Each shifting of thought produces its effect. Therefore, Our mission is to lead human consciousness into a

shifting, and the mission of Our disciples is to set the pace with the Cosmic Magnet. Our Stronghold contains the essence

of the shifting of the consciousness and the directing of it toward the center of evolution. Hence, the shifting of thought is

the paramount healer of mankind.

May 22nd126. During communion with the far-off worlds one must accept the degree of Fire. The fire of purification explains all

the ancient mysteries. When Christ spoke of the spirit needing regeneration, He had in mind the fiery purification. When

the outline of the law of The Wheel of Life was given by the Lord Buddha, the fiery purification was affirmed. Thus, the

consuming of old encumbrances is affirmed by the fiery purification. The new ascent is conditioned by the purification

through Fire. Therefore, the purification of spirit lies at the basis of transmutation. The highest Agni Yogi is not an

instrument nor a passive recipient but a co-worker and creator. Therefore, when the fires of Cosmos are strained the

manifestation of fiery purification is inevitable. Thus shall we establish attunement with the fiery purification.

May 23rd

148. The principle of Hierarchy is the most powerful of all principles leading to the broadening of consciousness. Each

manifested shifting is created by the principle of the concept of Hierarchy. Where can the spirit direct itself without the

Guiding Hand? Where can the eye and heart be directed without Hierarchy, when the bestowing Hand of the Hierarch

affirms the direction of destiny, when the Hand of the Hierarch determines the most propitious date and the higher

energies manifest in familiar images. Therefore, the seed of the spirit is imbued by the cosmic ray of the Hierarch. Since

the highest principle contains in itself the potentiality of Fire, the pure fiery spirit of the Hierarch is asserted as the highest

principle. Therefore, let is remember our spiritual Leaders. Thus we shall revere the law of Hierarchy.

May 24th

149. It is most difficult for humanity to accept the law of the Cosmic Magnet because it is difficult for the spirit to get

accustomed to the path of universal energy. The fluctuations of the spirit create a peculiar track, and instead of universal

striving the spirit writes the page of the visible only.

When a man is attracted by the Cosmic Magnet, all universal laws support this choice of the spirit. Hence, attachment

to the Cosmic Magnet separates the spirit from the narrow understanding of the Ego. Thus, the circle drawn by the

Cosmic Magnet establishes life upon the principle of General Good. Only the higher striving leads to universal energy.

The urge of personal cravings does not bring one to the universal energy. Only the realization of the Cosmic Magnet willreveal the path to Infinity.

May 25th

150. The essence of the Cosmic Magnet transmutes all strivings. Only the realization of attraction effects a complete

karmic bond. The principle of attraction obliges one to strive. Hence, the spirit who knows his karmic bond saturates his

striving with beauty. Thus, the spirit striving to union carries out a cosmic ordinance. The cosmic blending is saturated

with pure fire. The creativeness of Cosmos confirms the law of consummation. Thus summons the law.

225. The accumulations around the planet are so very dense that it is difficult for the rays to penetrate this mass.

Therefore, the spatial ray can contact only those who have rarefied the sphere by their striving. The spirit, by straining its

aura, attracts the cosmic rays from the space. Thus, records are borne in space in these attractions of the cosmic rays. The

spirit who has rarefied the cumulations about him proceeds forcefully toward evolution. Thus, those attractions which are

saturated by striving are tensed by the Cosmic Magnet.

May 27th

255. The condition of our planet is determined by human deeds. The manifestation of Spatial Fire creates spheres aroundthe planet which protect it from suffocation. The fiery attraction is so powerful that it can be likened to a magnetic

manifestation. Thus, when the forces of Cosmos drive toward a shifting, saturation of the space proceeds by the assertion

of the Magnet. The planet is unable to separate itself from the Cosmic Magnet, and the chain of strivings toward the

construction of evolution inseverably links all worlds. Thus, all actions of cosmic forces create in powerful cosmic

coordination, and all worlds serve the law of unity. Therefore, humanity must include itself in this law!

May 28th

259. The spirit which dwells upon the sphere of the visible world is thus renouncing the manifestation of the higher

spheres. When the spirit lives in a realization of the oneness of the entire cosmos, he is then linked to the entire Cosmos.

Creativeness of the spirit is sustained not from without but through the striving of the seed to the communion with the

Cosmic Magnet and the Spatial Fire. The seed of the spirit knows all laws of creation; and the spirit aware of its essence

seeks the link with higher spheres. The immutability of oneness impels the entire Cosmos. Verily, the consciousness

reaches the most subtle energies, but the impulse which has attained striving must emanate from the seed. Thus, the keyto attainments is contained in independent action.

May 29th

264. The Brothers of Humanity bear within themselves the striving to save the planet. Every vital impulse dwells in the

Heart of an Arhat. The urge of the Cosmic Magnet is felt by the Heart of an Arhat. The Heart of an Arhat knows the flux

of the rays of the luminaries. The Heart of an Arhat knows the striving toward consummation. Therefore, Our threads

flow in tension with the striving for unification.

May 30th

429. Again one has to remind the scientists that the theories of Einstein do not upset the laws of Euclid but encompass

them. Just as the third dimension does not nullify the laws of the plane, but is infinitely larger than the latter, so also the

laws of spiritual knowledge encompass all your laws, being infinitely broader. Therefore, lay antagonism aside as an

impediment to evolution..

May 31st

490. Beautiful is the orbit of the spirit which knows its own destination. The direction of each spirit must be goal-fitting,

but each spirit must know the affirmed law of evolution.

Foreword:

Merging into the waves of the Infinite, we may be compared to flowers torn away by a storm. How shall we find

ourselves transfigured in the ocean of the Infinite?

It would be unwise to send out a boat without a rudder. But the Pilot is predestined and the creation of the heart will

not be precipitated into the abyss. Like milestones on a luminous path, the Brothers of Humanity, ever alert, are standing

on guard, ready to lead the traveler into the chain of ascent.
