Objectives

• Present preliminary designs of the seismometer pods – Task 1 of the SEI Prototypes Implementation Plan (20008174-A)

• Obtain technical concurrence that the preliminary designs are complete enough to begin HAM and BSC configuration tasks

– External dimensions of pods– Interfaces to supporting structure– Estimated mass

Design Summary

• As presented in ASI’s value engineering presentation, ASI’s pod design concept was predicated on round vs. rectangular configuration

– Take advantage of heritage UHV technologies

• Conflat

• Wire-Seal

• Pod designs presented will be common to both HAM and BSC prototypes– Stage 1

• Single pod concept is now three (3) individual pods

– Flexibility in packaging & alignment

– Stage 2

• Single pod design similar to that presented at the value engineering presentation

Preliminary Pod Designs – Stage 1 STS-2

• Design Assumptions– Mounting plane is based upon a 16.50” OD Conflat with rotating flange

– Lock actuator design is based upon the revised locker database using “bolted” interface

– STS-2 Electrical interface of uses a 90 degree connector

– External UHV connection is a 4.50” OD Conflat
