Mill Village Brewing Company

Mill Village Brewing Company was a studio project where I had to design a brew pub for building I at Revolution Mills in Greensboro, North Carolina. I started with learning about kitchen and brewing design.

Over several months I learned about how beer is made, how long it takes for different kinds of beer to ferment and exactly how much roughly 200 people can drink in one night. Then I began learning about how to build a menu. How food is made behind the scenes in a restaurant. Then how this contributes to how a commercial kitchen is designed.

Over several weeks I began to assemble a list of required equipment and then began to search for the appropriate kitchen equipment. While receiving advice from two members of Greensboro’s health department I was able to create a safe and functional kitchen plan.

Then I began to work on the layout of the main hall space. After spending a week in Germany earlier that year, I drew from personal experience. I chose materials and furniture that match the aesthetic of a traditional German beer hall. Focusing on communication as a concept.

Project Team: I worked with Teraesa Douglas to create this project. I created the 3-D form in Rhino and then rendered the images using Photoshop.

Project Location: Centennial Olympic Park. Atlanta, Georgia

Crystal Sky was a studio project where we were challenged with designing a Pop-up shop. We were given a Ball-Nogues as an architecture firm to emulate and a products from MRKT store to display. The shop needed to be able to fit into a shipping container. We were also encouraged to base the structure off the process of folding. We folded paper with the water bomb tessellation.

Page 11: Selected works portfolio

After researching and testing out many origami folding methods we decided on the water bomb tessellation because of its strong repeating pattern. This allowed us design a structure that could be assembled out of uniform pieces. Then the products would hang from the interior parts structure, as if they were hanging from crystals.

Bloom + COLLECTION

Project Date: Fall 2012

Project Type: Product

Project Team: I worked with Teraesa Douglas and Elizabeth Leonard to create this project. I contributed many drawings, models, ideas, and made final models of all the products.

Bloom Clock

Corset

Teardrop

The Bloom + collection was a project that was designed to be launched on Kickstarter [crowd funding]. We were asked to create a time piece, a shelf and vessel. After a few ideas we decided to vacuum form foam to create this project. Each product was created with kids craft foam, industrial adhesive and elastic.

11

The Bloom Clock was developed a portable time piece. Meant to be set up next to a bed or a desk. The flexibility of the foam allowed us to create a form that would close it petals around the face of the clock to protect the arms.

The corset was designed to carry cards and other important information. Its simple design allows for easy access to cards.

The Teardrop was developed to be a portable night stand that can hang from any surface. It can bend to hold onto a ledge or be hung by the cord..

Home Grown

Project Date: Fall 2014

Project Type: Commercial

Project Team: I worked with Elizabeth Leonard, Shelly Gates, Kimberly Mott and Ana Dimeo. I contributed to this group by making all of the Revit files, including solar studies, and as built drawings. I was also responsible for creating daylight studies, lumen counts, using Revit and 3Ds Max.

Model made by Elizabeth Leonard

Home Grown was a design for a local market in a neighborhood just south of UNCG. The space is a house that has stood vacant for a time that could help bridge the gap between the university and the neighborhood. We chose to design a market with a hydroponic garden to help provide fresh food because currently the area is a food desert.
