    Policy Selection of Students intoVET Courses

    Policy Number 06.12Policy Area STUDENTS

    This is a statement of the Actors College of Theatre and Television (ACCT) policy in regards toselecting students for admissions into VET courses in a fair and equitable manner, adhering toACTTs selection guidelines.

    ACTT supports the concept of equal opportunity and is committed to providing all staff, studentsand potential students with a working and learning environment which values diversity, respectsdifferences and provides an environment that is safe, healthy, positive, supportive and free from allforms of harassment, bullying and discrimination.

    Fair TreatmentACTT will treat fairly all Students andPotential Students.

    Student SelectionACTT has open, fair and transparent procedures, based on merit for making decisions about:

    a) the selection, from among Potential Students;andb) the treatment of Students.

    Potential Students seeking to enrol in a VET unit of study with ACTT regardless of theirbackground, circumstances or eligibility for funding, will be assessed for entry to study through thesame published entry requirements and through the same process.

    Entry Requirements

    1) Minimum entry requirements for ACTTs VET Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diplomacourses are published on the ACCT website and in course brochures.

    2) Students will be selected for entry into ACTT courses if

    they have completed Australian Year 10 or equivalent; OR

    a Certificate III; OR

    demonstrated skills acquired through work experience OR

    over 21 years of age with evidence of work experience or further study

    3) The above paragraph does not prevent ACTT taking into account, in making decisionsmentioned above, educational disadvantages that a particular Student or Potential Studenthas experienced or the fact that the student or Potential Student may be enrolled via a VETrestricted access arrangement.

    4) All applicants must formally apply to ACTT before commencing their studies.

    5) All applicants must complete the ACTT Application for Enrolment, and attend an interviewand where relevant an audition, with the responsible officer at ACTT

    6) At interview the student will be asked toa) Provide information on their aspirations to pursue a career in the industryb) Demonstrate their ability to successfully complete the coursec) Demonstrate their aptitude for vocational study

    PublicationThis Selection of Students into VET Courses Policywill be made available to Students andPotential Students through publication on the website (www.actt.edu.au) and in course promotionalmaterials and the Student Handbook.
