CENTRE FOR FOUNDATION STUDIES
2017 / 2018
tudentSGuide
Welcome to Temasek Polytechnic! And welcome to the Polytechnic Foundation Programme @ TP!
The foundation year in PFP will be an exciting and important one for you. How much you can build and achieve in your subsequent three
years in the diploma course of study will depend on how strong a foundation you lay over the coming months. This covers not just
your academic foundation but also in the areas of study skills, leadership skills, and personal and character development.
The sta of the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS), together with
other sta of the Schools in TP and the Student Development & Alumni Aairs department (SDAA), will provide you with a bountiful
array of opportunities for your learning, creativity and development. What you would ultimately achieve along the PFP journey would
thus depend on how well you capitalize on the opportunities provided.
Get set then for a fulfilling and rewarding voyage ahead! A clear
focus on your part, along with dedication to stay the course and a spirit of excellence, will enlarge the territory that you can cover.
With best wishes,
Mr Sng Choon LengHead / CFS
ear Students,Dear Students,DCongratulations on your admission into the Polytechnic Foundation Programme. You are here because you deserve to be, and because you can bring something new and exciting into this learning community. The programme has been designed to provide an enjoyable learning experience that deepens your interest in your chosen field. But as you work hard to achieve your academic goals, do remember to play hard too and enjoy the activities and facilities in Temasek Polytechnic. The friendships that you form with new friends would make this journey an enriching experience for you. Don’t hesitate also to call upon your lecturers when you need to — even after you have completed this programme. They will be your best source of support, helping you make the most of your experience here. Adapting to a new environment is never easy. But I encourage you to be open to new ideas, experiences and directions. With best regards,
Mr. Lee Han YoungManager / Academic Programmes
This is the start of a new adventure. A dierent way of learning. A fresh point of view. To do well, you are encouraged to develop a positive learning attitude and practise good work and study habits.
But don’t forget to take time out for fun. Explore eateries with your peers. Pick a CCA (or two). Find like-minded friends. Find yourself.
Work Hard. Have fun.
PFP STUDENT LIFE
