 Sr. Adult Retreat Committee Ann ounces Theme & Keyn ote Spea ker The Sr. Adult Retreat Committee announced that Dr. Jerry Cain will be keynote speaker at the Apr. 15-16, 2015, event. Born in California as part of the post-war baby boom (11/8/45), Jerry Berlyn Cain spent part of his early years in Texas before moving with his parents and two brothers to New Mexico, where he did most of his growing up. In 1964, he graduated from Lovington (NM) High School, where he was active in student government and athletics. In 1968, he graduated from the honors program of Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelor of Science degree in religion and psychology. Three years later, he received the Master of Arts degree from Baylor University’s department of religion where his focus was historical e thics.  Additional graduate education included studies at Midwestern Seminary, St. Paul’s School of Theology in Kansas City, and Regent’s Park College, Oxford, England. He has received honorary degrees from William Jewell C ollege, Liberty, MO (Doctor of Sacred Theology), Central Baptist Seminary, Kansas City, KS (Doctor of Divinity), Nigeria Bible College and Seminary, Lagos, Nigeria (Doctor of Humanities) and Judson University (Doctor of Letters).  After a four-year inner-city and youth ministry in Albuquerque, NM, Dr. Cain began a career in higher education, serving at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX; New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM; and William Jewell College, before becoming president of Judson College in 1998. He has served in capacities including admissions, alumni, campus ministry, classroom teaching and vice pres ident. While president at Judson he led the school through several building programs including the construction of the Harm A. Weber Academic Center to house the Library and the School of Art, Design and Architecture; created the first four graduate programs; led the transition from college to university and raised over $42m for campus budgets and projects. Dr. Cain has been married to Linda Powell Cain, a native of Southern Illinois, since 1968. Linda holds degrees in elementary education and library s cience. Their oldest son, Michael, works for Shamrock Trading Corporation in suburban Kansas City and is married to Sheri Smith Cain, an orchestra teacher and violinist. They are the parents of Madeline Opal and Rebecca R yanne. Their second son, Jeffrey, currently serves at the University of California, Riverside, as exhibit coordinator for three galleries. Jerry and Linda s hare hobbies, which in clude cooking, reading, spectator sports, traveling and gardening. The theme for this year’s Sr. Adult Retreat is “Up, Up and Away.” The theme Scripture is Isaiah 40:31: “But those who wait on the L ORD Shall renew their  strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” NKJV Seniors” (any age applies) can attend by filling out a registration form below or through their local church.
