Basket Weaving

Learn the basics of basket weaving and pattern techniques. You’ll be weaving with Rattan, also called Date Palm, which is pliable when wet, but incredibly strong when dry. You will be using color (dyed) Rattan and Seagrass for accent patterns. Learn the basics of weaving, as well as new techniques with each new basket. Weaving is very therapeutic and rewarding. Anyone can learn the wonderful art of weaving! Instructions for staining, cleaning, and caring for your basket will be included. You’ll be going home with a finished basket at each class. Intro to Artistic Welding & Metal Working

Beginning students only. You will be introduced to beginning welding techniques and metalworking. You will learn a variety of processes, including oxy/acetylene welding, MIG welding (GMAW), torch cutting, plasma cutting, and the use of metal shears, benders, grinders, punches, saws, and drill presses. If you are interested in learning other processes, such as TIG welding (GTAW) or stick welding (SMAW), you will be given special instruction and opportunity to practice on your own. You will be given an opportunity to complete an artistic project of your choice. This is not an Industrial Welding class. Supply list will be mailed. Intermediate and Advanced Metal Working and Welding

This course is designed for students that have taken Intro to Artistic Welding and Metalworking class and/or students who want further instruction in technical areas of metal forming and welding. Shop space and a grinding room, as well as welders and various metal forming, shaping and cutting equipment will be provided. The instructor will be available to answer questions, provide feedback and technical and support assistance, discuss methods of fabrication, and offer refresher instruction. A $25 lab fee to cover welding gasses and wire is included in tuition cost. This is not an Industrial Welding class. Confidentiality of Students Records (FERPA) Centralia College complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) which affords you certain rights with respect to your records. Underage StudentsStudents under the age of 16 must be accompanied to all scheduled classes by a parent/ legal guardian, a completed and signed consent form will need to be on file and signed permission from the instructor received prior to registration.

Refund & Withdrawal PolicyNon – credit classes are self supporting and are not financed by state tax funds. When classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment or some extenuating circumstance, a 100% refund will automatically be processed. To withdraw from a class, you must do so 24 hours before the start of class in order to receive a 100% refund. Full refunds will be made if Centralia College cancels the event.
