Seniors……… This is your last year in high school! Congratulations! Are you ready to move on to College? Military? Workforce? Not sure? Now is the time to start thinking and planning where you will be next fall 2012! The PAD (Planning and Developing) is the place to go! See Mrs. Zimmer in Room 1.280 to start the process! I will be sending out a form for you to complete in the next couple of weeks through your Language Arts class. We will be using the computers to visit websites, so make sure you are able to log on to our school computers. IMPORTANT DATES & INFORMATION TO REMEMBERMake sure you stop by and visit with our college admission reps during your lunch time or ask your ACT teacher if you can go during your ACT. The reps are here at our school to offer you lots of information about their college. You may end up finding out that you may have more opportunities out of state than in state! I try to bring in two or more colleges but sometimes you may just see only one college here. Even if you think you may not have an interest in the college that is here stop by anyway to say “hello” and ask them “what does your college have to offer me”? Transcript Info.

You can request your Transcript

by either completing a paper re-

quest form in the counseling of-

fice or in The Pad. You can also

request transcripts through gacol-

lege411.org. It is your responsi-

bility to mail your transcript to

your college. The fee is $2.00

per transcript. It takes 24-48

hours to process.

College Fall Visits If you did not visit any colleges

this summer, you may want to

start checking their websites to

sign up to attend one of their

open house dates! Some col-

leges require you to register be-

fore you come, so check each

college that you are interested in

and sign up! It is so important to

see the college and walk around.

You will know if the size of the

campus is what you are looking

for. If you visit during the school

week, check with the Attendance

Office and request a Pre-

arranged Absence College Form.

You must have this form com-

pleted in order to visit your col-

lege. Sign up and check out

This is a meeting you and your

parents do not want to miss!!

Attention Male Students..

If you are 18 you

are required to reg-

ister with the Selec-

tive Service within

30 days of your

18th birthday. Once you register,

you are eligible for college loans

and grants, government jobs,

and job training. By not register-

ing you risk the chance of losing

your drivers license and also col-

lege loans. Register online at

www.sss.gov or pick up an ap-

plication at your nearest U.S.

Post Office.

NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA If you want to play sports in college

on an athletic scholarship and you

have not registered you will need to

do so. The NCAA Clearinghouse is

used for Division I, II. Division III

schools use there on rules. Visit

www.ncaa.org to register. There are

many regulations and conditions you

need to know ahead of time so that

you don’t miss possible opportuni-

ties. There are certain GPA and

SAT/ACT score requirements you

will need to meet. There is a $65 fee

to register. You will need to send

them your transcript. Also,

SAT/ACT scores using the 9999

code when you register for your

SAT/ACT. NAIA rules are located @

www.playnaia.org. There is a $60

fee to register. The SAT/ACT code

is 9876. And you will also need to

send them your transcript and meet

certain GPA and SAT/ACT scores.

NJCAA rules are located @

www.njcaa.org. Junior College rules

are different than the ones listed

above. Check with your coach,

counselor or Mrs. Zimmer if you

need additional help.
