To our 12 th Grade Ticktockers:Congratulations! Today’s Senior Presentation represents up to six years of service to National Charity League, and to our Santa Ynez Valley community. As your Grade Level Advisors, it has been our honor to assist you in your philanthropy endeavors and chapter responsibilities.

We have watched you grow as responsible leaders of your grade level organizations and as valuable, charitable volunteers.

Although you represent different schools and different interests you have formed a bond of friendship and respect for each other’s diversity that has made this experience even more valuable.

We wish you the very best in your future and we thank you for the opportunities you have given us to grow along with you. You are an exceptional group of women, to make an impact on the world!

Outside of NCL, I enjoy hiking with my friend Sophie, watching my dancing and athletic friends dominate in their sports and spending time with friends, family and even my

boyfriend (shocking.) In season, I like to snowboard and wakeboard, especially spending my summers at the lake

and best of all I watch many shows–including The Bachelor, a show my mom and I gawk over every Monday night.

Everyone in my life who is close has had a positive impact on the person I am today. My brother taught me how to

make life enjoyable, even when there is nothing to do. My friends listen to me spill my heart out, which is more than

enough! My parents have pushed me to be the best version of myself while allowing me to shape my own future.

Thank you, every one of you, and I love you all.

In the future, I intend to go into medicine. I specifically would love to become a Physician’s Assistant. So far, I have been accepted into a pre-medicine program at Penn State University and am hoping for some positive news from the

University of Washington, UC San Diego and UC Berkeley.

“It is impossible to convey the life-sensation of any given epoch of one’s existence–that which makes its truth, its meaning–its subtle and penetrating essence. It is

impossible. We live and we dream–alone.” Joseph Conrad in Heart of Darkness

This is my favorite quote because it reminds society that every person lives in his or her own world, and it is

impossible to know a person entirely. If you do not know every aspect of another’s life, then there would be no reason

for cruel judgement in this world.

Page 7: Senior Presents 2014

I love, love, love to read really good books. I love to play, whether it’s volleyball or basketball or board games or Hide & Go Seek or Jail Tag–they are all great. I am involved in the local youth group in the valley where I play the piano on the worhsip team and go on lots of fun trips. I also lead a girls Lifegroup.

My favorite memory of all my NCL years would definitely be the big sister/little sister pond party we had at Tamsyn Walker’s house. It was an entire afternoon filled with rope swinging into the pond, riding around on water boats, playing dress up, and competing with the other sister teams in a relay race.

As to my tributes–first off, thank you, Jesus, for never ceasing to amaze me with your power and grace! I seriously would not be the person I am today without you. I really want to thank my parents for putting up with my ridiculously busy schedule and constantly encouraging me. I specifically want to thank my mom for waking me up every morning and making my lunch and breakfast before school because without her I would probably starve or be a huge moocher off of other people! Also, I would like to thank Cody and Michelle Fisher and Ben and Nicole Sprague who invested so much time into my life, teaching me to be a kingdom bringer, a humble servant, and a kind person. I would also like to thank Mrs. Endy for

being the best teacher ever and the greatest comforter and role model, and for inspiring me to become a teacher myself. I really want to thank everybody but especially my family – Allison, Arthur, Beckett, Chad, Tulsi, and Melissa – and my best friends because life wouldn’t be the same without them!

My future is pretty vague right now, but all I’m striving to do is bring glory to the kingdom in whatever way I can. My hopeful plans are to spend a semester in India living with my old youth pastor’s family and homeschooling his three children. After that I will be enrolled in some university, preferably UCLA, where I will study English. I would like to travel the world and maybe teach the English language in foreign countries; then eventually settle down somewhere and be a stellar wife, mother and teacher!

“Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness. Kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.” – Mother Teresa

This quote reminds me of how simple it is to be kind, but also how rarely it is given. Kindness is something everyone is capable of, which is why this quote is so inspiring–because it is also so achievable.

Dance has been my number one, my safe haven, and a second home since the age of two and a half. Dance was what I did from

the moment I woke up to the time I went to bed. I took every dance class and camp possible at the LODG. This year I had to

take a break from dance because of multiple injuries, but it will still always have a special place in my heart. I write and draw in

my spare time through blogging and journaling. Computers and coding are the interest that I have been pursuing the most this

year. I love working in Photoshop, animation, Google Sketchup, HTML, and Code.org. I also joined the Cyber Patriot Team at my school which is a computer security competition team. My two favorite interests are poetry and architecture. I love listening to

soft music on the weekend in my room reading and writing poem after poem. When I’m not doing that, I’m looking through my

architecture books admiring the beauty of it all. Leadership is also a huge part of my life. I have been a part of student government in

my school since sophomore year and was chosen to participate in Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership. For the past two years, I have

joined my dad up at the University of Washington in Seattle working for PCBS. I’ve gotten to meet amazing directors and

teachers that have inspired my passion for leadership. Finally, an important interest to me is Political Science. I typically watch

three hours a night of news and politics in order to catch up on current events. I have a passion to serve the community and the

nation around me. I am excited to see where all of these interests take me in life.

Next year, I plan on going to a four year Christian university in California or Washington State. I will major in Computer Science

and minor in Political Science. I want to pursue my faith while learning more about what I love. I am excited to search through

the many fields that Computer Science has to offer in order to decide the profession I will pursue. I want to be involved in

student government, youth groups, clubs, and Young Life. After completing my undergraduate degree, I plan on attending The University of Washington in Seattle to earn a Phd in Computer

Science and Engineering. “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my

heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26This is currently my favorite bible verse, because it is so true to me. Even when my body fails me, and I can no longer dance or

run, I know that I will always have God. God will never fail me, and he will always be by my side. When my body shakes, He holds my

hand. When my knees grow weak, He picks me up. When I am lost and weary, He is with me guiding me home.

Outside of NCL, I love to have fun! If I could describe myself in one sentence it would be that Oreos are my favorite snack (and no-Oreos are not candy.) Driving around the valley by myself is my favorite hobby, and working for my dad is my favorite job. Besides that, I have had the privilege of traveling a lot with my family–which by far has created some of my best memories to date. How I loved travelling through Spain, France AND Italy in a Euro car with five family members and their luggage (European cars are so comfy!) Here in America though, I love dancing and creating a ruckus with Olivia and Bobby (the good kind.)My mama and papa have been my biggest support group growing up. They have taught me to be a service based leader and have helped humble me (though I don’t need it because I am perfect.) I am truly thankful for them and am blessed by them every day. I am also inspired by my brother, Riley. His hard-work ethic and forgiving spirit have always been two attributes that I look up to him for. He has always been an advocate for my success and a most precious friend. Psalm 27:1 is one of my favorite passages. It says, “The Lord is my shepherd; of whom shall I fear. The Lord is my rock and my salvation; of whom shall I be afraid.” Wherever my future takes me, I will have courage knowing that my Savior is with me every step of the way.

I love living up to my ESFJ stereotype as ASB President, as well as taking pictures and locking in moments that would

otherwise be forgotten. On the other hand, I really like to spend my time around the table with humans, eating and processing life. Roadtrips are my absolute favorite and I’m

super blessed to have a mom, as well as friends and mentors who understand the beauty of driving -

usually all day, usually without a destination.I have so many favorite memories–so many lovely times! One of my favorite memories would be redcoating at Theatrefest. One summer in particular Heather and I saw Godspell about

13 times and would sing throughout the entire musical. If you bring it up to us–the lyrics will just come spewing out of our

lungs, it’s a joyful experience. I also enjoyed all our meetings, life lessons, and of course the most delightful cucumber

sandwiches at the May Tea. I am thankful for Jesus Christ. My heart and life have been

radically changed by the Gospel, and I’m so overjoyed to live everyday of life because of it. Also I’m so thankful for all the beautiful humans who have surrounded me my whole life. Thankful to have a mom who is my best friend, a dad who reminds me how to respect and treat others with integrity,

mentors who invest in me, and best friends who are rock solid. Something interesting about me? I will most likely use the

word ‘soul’ or some version of it if we have a conversation! (ie. ‘soul-filling, ‘soul-ly’) ALSO, I love eating frozen peas. I’ve

seen almost every documentary on Netflix and I’m continually fascinated by human beings and how cool and/or weird life is.

As to my future, In the very near future I will be attending Azusa Pacific in the fall and majoring in communications/psychology.

In the little bit farther away future I hope to be a mom to cute little babies and work in some sort of counseling or non-profit

work. In the way, way future, I hope to be a really cute short elderly lady who knits and smiles all the time.

My favorite quote? “Be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead.” 1 Peter 1:6 As I’ve rediscovered this verse in a time of

transition, I’ve held onto it as my comfort and motivation. I”m pretty excited to see the wonderful joy that waits ahead, and

I’m smiling back on the joy I’ve been able to experince thus far. It’s a pretty exciting thing to be alive.

My interests outside of NCL are defitnitely animals. I love spending time with my cats and my new puppy. I also enjoy going on hikes with friends.

My favorite part of NCL would be the cultural events. This year attending the opera was amazing and breath-taking.

I would like to thank my parents for making me try new things, my brothers for showing me that chasing your dreams is hard but worth it, and my friends for always being there for me even if I fall down.

In the future, I plan to be a zoo keeper. I am planning to go to a community college close-by and then transfer to Moorpark College to hopefully get into the exotic animal training and management program. I would like to be an animal ambassador and teach people about animals.

I have learned from NCL that you need to go out of your comfort zone to really enjoy something.

“The thing that is really hard and really amazing is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.” Anna Quindlen.

I love this quote because now with social media and the internet, young girls are constantly getting these images of models who are ‘perfect’ when really photoshop changes the way they look. Every girl is beautiful and perfect when they are themselves, not what magazines tell them what perfect is.

After collge, or during, I hope to travel out of the country to work

on organic farms, promoting global healthy living.

“I wanna go on adventures, I think. Not get stuck in one place.”

I love to travel and hope to lead an adventurous existence!

Outside of NCL, I enjoy reading and writing along with playing around on the piano. I

am excited to dive deeper into my love for writing and reading in college.

My favorite memories from NCL have been our cultural events. We get to experience each other in a different aspect than the normal meeting setting. My favorite cultural event was in 11th grade, when we went to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. First, we toured UCLA with prior NCL Ticktockers then we went to the museum and ended with dinner in Malibu– it was a lot of fun.One of my favorite quotes is “The mind is everything. What you think, you become.” –Buddha. I like this quote because I think it reminds me that you need to set a goal and really believe in yourself and you can and will achieve it.

==as you can++Outside of NCL, I participate in other activities and sports including volleyball, softball, and lacrosse. I enjoy sports, but my favorite is volleyball. I go to Dunn School, so most of my time is taken up being busy at school. I love hanging with my friends and going to concerts, so I try to go to as many as possible.
