*Please check board for schedule so you are ready when bell rings*Have homework completed.*Use time effectively.*No electronics unless I direct otherwise. *Be in your assigned seat.*Openers – first up on each day.*Quotes, Grammar, Vocabulary
*Opening
*Active and Passive Voice – *Active voice occurs when the subject performs
the action. *In Passive voice, the subject of the sentence is
acted on by another agent.*Example*Passive – Snuffles was taken to the vet by my
dad.*Active – My dad took Snuffles to the vet.
*Rewrite in Active Voice*The menu for my graduation open house was chosen by my mom.

*Go over Unit 1 Test and discuss retakes*Improving Sentences – use transitions, use correct
words from “Ten Errors.” *Introduction to Unit 2 – Pronoun Case*Homework – quotes, collage, and prepare for retake.

*Improving Sentences
*Find the following three items: “Ten Errors,” “Transitions” sheet, and “Effective Writing” page 1.*Review purpose of these items.*Improving Sentences pages 2.
*Can you select a way to vary your sentences? *How do transitions affect your writing.
*Unit 2: Intro to Pronoun Case
*Intro – handout 1 – use your ear – what sounds correct?*Check.*Focus on just areas you missed – trust
your ear for all others.*Pronoun Case – which pronoun do you use
in which situations? *I or me or my, he or him or his, they or
them or their, etc.
*Collage
* Keep in mind – a collage overlaps, there is no bank space in between items.
*When you finish your narrative, you may have some class time on Friday or on Monday to work on it.
* This version may be submitted in black and white. Final for portfolio should be in color – be sure you can save it.
*Due Friday, April 19.
*Content *Focus is to show what you
know how to do, what you have “accomplished,” the things you have committed time to.
*Organized sports, music programs/performance, CTC, computer/drawing /design/building skills, volunteer or mentoring time.

*Opening: Copy down the following 5 vocab words, with definition and part of speech. Write a sentence about yourself using 3 correctly.*Adroit – adjective – clever or skillful*Aspire – verb – direct one’s hopes towards doing
or achieving something*Proficient – adjective – competent in doing
something, skillful*Tenacious – adjective – persistent, not letting go
or giving up easily*Vocation – noun – calling, profession, a career

*Thesis will be centered around a specific career, internship, apprenticeship, military program or like goal.*Part of the thesis needs to identify why
this is a viable option for you*Why you think you would be good at this*What experiences you have had that make
you settle on this choice
