Dear Parents & students, Sensory play includes any activity that stimulates your young child's senses: touch, smell, taste, movement, balance, sight and hearing. Sensory activities facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. Some additional benefits include: • It helps to build nerve connections in the brain. • It encourages the development of motor skills. • It supports language development. • It encourages 'scientific thinking' and problem
solving. • It can involve mindful activities which are beneficial
for all children.
This week at our center, we included these exclusive activities with our learner s and their exploration has indeed been broadened.
Warm regards, Shweta Parthasarathy

Numeracy Visually appealing objects can spark the interest in learners to learn better. We try to incorporate this strategy especially with the early years. Here, we can see our tiny tot tracing number 3 with her car on the number road painted. We also practiced the shapes learned so far by sorting and matching it with the outline drawn on paper.

Literacy K2 A Learners had a picture talk session wherein they had to view a picture and make sentences on it. Illustrations in a picture help children understand what they are reading, allowing new readers to analyze the story. If children are having difficulty with the words, the illustrations can help them figure out the narrative, which can increase their comprehension. Sight words were done with K2 learners and it’s seen that they are grasping them well and writing them as well. When a reader masters sight words, she is able to understand at least half of the words in a particular text. By eliminating the need to decode these words, the reader is able to focus on those that are more difficult and less familiar. Beyond this, sight words offer important clues about the meaning of a sentence.

Numeracy K2 A learners are seen learning numerical concept of “Tall & Short” .Conceptual learning involves students engaged in quality learning experiences based around key concepts and central ideas rather than using the more traditional method of focusing on learning on topics. Conceptual learning is an educational method that centers on big-picture ideas and learning how to organize and categorize information. K2 A learners compared objects like pencils and bottles which were taller and shorter through this they got a hands on experience of learning the concept. K2 A learners also learnt about the shape “Semi-circle” through a PPT wherein they related to all the semi-circle shaped objects that they come across in their day to day life they also made lovely objects with semicircle shape like an umbrella & a cut piece of watermelon.

Literacy Apart from cognitive development, literacy engagements and activities help children to have a better understanding of the world that surrounds them. Maximum focus is given on the letter sounds and word blending so that children learn to read in an enjoyable way. Children are moving away from reading single words to forming and framing sentences on their own. During the class children explore various sentence forming activities and are proving to be confident thinkers and speakers. A spell check activity was also conducted in the classroom and it acted as a great way to recap and recall the words taught in class.
