Sentry Isis

Temporary Card Kiosk• The system consists of a PC based kiosk running a

windows application and a web application.• Both applications interact with the main Sentry

Isis database.

Main FunctionsStudent who has forgotten their card and

wants to access the library.Visitor with a pre-arranged appointmentVisiting Student from an external institution

Student who has forgotten their cardStudent will request a day pass and will validate the request

by using Active Directory (or similar).Temporary card limit can be set.Students can only be issued with one card per day.Student will be denied if their Isis record has a Trap or Ban.Student will be denied if they are already recoded as “In”

the library.Students actual card will be blocked for the period of the

temporary card.

VisitorLibrary Staff can pre-book a visitor pass using

the web service.Staff will supply a pin to the visitor which can

be used at the kiosk.Visitor temporary card would not necessarily

be valid for only one day.

Visiting StudentVisiting Student will be prompted to select

their home institution.Validation will be made by entering their

Shibboleth (or other) user name and password.

Period of validity of the temporary card can be set by the library.

Database EntriesEach transaction is added to the students Isis

record as if they had used their actual card.Visitors and visiting students will generate a

new Isis record when a card is used.
