September already? Yes, the Summer months are racing to an end withLabor Day marking the unofficial finish line. I trust you have enjoyed this morerelaxed season of the year and have granted yourselves more than a little downtime to be refreshed, revived and rejuvenated.
September also is a month of beginnings. For those in school, or withschool-age children, a new school year is about to start. September generallysignals the beginning of a new season of church ministries and programs.Youth and children’s ministries, Sunday School, small groups, women’s andmen’s ministries (if they suspended meetings during the Summer) all gear upagain in September.
One other very important beginning in September is the commencement ofMissionary Conference tours in the District. Whether you are on the District or
Inter-district tour schedule, you have by now been notified of who will be comingto your church and when. I’m sure plans are being made by your missionscommittees to welcome and bless your missionary guests. Your hospitality tothese servants and fellow workers will be greatly appreciated by them. Byhospitality I’m referring not only to their accommodations, meals andentertainment but also, maybe more importantly, to the enthusiasm and interestwith which they are embraced by your congregation while with you. Please doall you can to build excitement and to encourage strong participation by yourcongregations. Use the materials sent from National Office to spark interest andanticipation. Educate them about the funding of C&MA missionaries, the GreatCommission Fund (GCF) and the Faith Promise. Remember it is an Alliancegoal to increase from 40 to 60 the percentage of Alliance people who support
our ministries and missionaries through their giving to the GCF. Please takeresponsibility in helping us reach that goal to the glory of God.
Have a great Labor Day weekend and a wonderful beginning to the newchurch season.
Keep looking up,
Dan

Following Hard after God’s Heart
Imagine the excitement, planning, preparation, apprehension, stress and trustfactor it takes to make a move. Multiply that if the move is from Coast to CoastArriving a bit travel weary from Washington State after enjoying the exciting“camping experiences” in a number of states, the Ankeny Five (Luke, Heidi,Sam, Jacob and Braden) are beginning the settling process to their new locatio
in Cicero, New York. The Ankenys will be ministering bi-vocationally with theCochran’s as church planters. God heard our prayers and on Sunday, August 1the Ankeny’s safely arrived following thousands of miles traveled! A wonderfugroup of people already associated with the church plant welcomed the Ankenyand helped them unload their belongings the following Friday. Each familymember will have opportunities to impact their community for Christ as theirwebs of influence are developed and foster based on God givenopportunities.
Welcome Ankenys
to theNortheastern District Family!

There is no cookie cutter Pastor’s wife. Aren’t you glad? We come in all shapes and sizes andtalents. None of us is the same. God gifted each of us uniquely to serve Jesus, to help our husbands,to equip the saints, and to witness for Christ in the communities where He called us to live.
Some Pastors’ wives feel like a jack (or should I say Jill) of all trades. In our passion to pleasepeople and to serve Christ, we can stretch ourselves too thin until we’re too tired to effectively serveChrist, our husbands, the saints, or our communities.
To prevent ministry burnout, I spent days in prayer and personal evaluation of my passionsand my gifting. The outcome of that time was the following personal mission statement:“My purpose is to share the hope of Christ through writing and speaking by leading
unbelievers into a relationship with Jesus Christ and guiding believers into a deeper walk with Him.”It is simple, yet it covers a broad range of ministries. When I grow weary, I read it and
determine if I am doing something out of God’s will. When asked to do something, I read it, and askGod if this project fits into His purpose for me.
I encourage you to take quiet time and develop a personal mission statement. Being in God’swill and doing the work He planned for you to do is a joy. May each of you know fulfillment as youserve Christ, help your husband, equip the saints, and witness in your community.
Praying for you always to do what God called you to do,
Elaine

Summer is a great time of warm weather and family vacations. It is also a great time for evangelism. Manychurches plan Vacation Bible Schools which is still a very good means of outreach. This year at New LifeBible Church in Walworth, we did a “VBS Weekend”. We launched our program on a Friday evening withintroductions to the event including songs and games. We continued Saturday with each age group rotatingfrom Bible class, to song time, to crafts, snacks and recreation. Each age group visited five Bible stationsduring the day. Our theme was “Soul Survivor On Danger Island”, where the children learned life lessonsfrom Hezekiah, Joshua, David, Gideon, and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. We were able to pray with
eleven children to receive the Lord through out the two days.We preceded the event by making a float and entering it in two local parades. We handed out over 1500invitations along with other church information and Gospel tracts during those times. Hopefully the seedssown will bear forth a bountiful harvest.
Events are a good way to impact others with the Gospel, but so is personal evangelism. Your EvangelismCommittee wants to encourage you to be a faithful ambassador of our Lord and His Gospel. Pray who theLord would have you share His Truth with this week.
