Moving beyond ‘tolerance and inclusion’ to ‘anti biased and anti racist’ approaches in earlyyears with Ana Valle Rivera
October 1, 6:30-8:00
Being ‘not racist’ is not enough anymore. In this workshop participants will think about what ‘tolerance’ means. Wheredoes it come from? Who does it privilege and who does it marginalize? Next participants will evaluate ‘inclusion’ andthink about what they believe inclusion means and how they currently honour diversity. After having open, safe andrespectful conversations about biases and racism participants will work together to move past the uncomfortablefeelings and begin to think about how they can put into action anti biased and anti racist approaches in early years.

Supporting Children’s Development in a Digital Age with Sean Larsen
November 19 6:30-8:30PM
Never in human history has information and stimulation been more available than it is now. Over the last two decades
the use and reliance on smart phones, tablets, gaming, texting, social media on other forms of digital interaction have
flooded almost all human groups across the globe. The world our children live in shapes how their brains and bodies
develop. Understanding the impact of digital media on the brain of child can be essential in helping children to
learn to interact healthily with digital media. Meltdowns, boredom, digital sexuality, sleep, and mood will be a few of
the topics covered in this workshop in relation to digital media use. Join me in a discussion of digital media and
how we can use it as a tool to help children’s mental and emotional development while avoiding the pitfalls parents
and educators face.
About Sean
Sean Larsen is a childhood development specialist and subject matter expert in children’s mental health and
development. With well over decade of experience in therapeutic intervention for children and families, Sean has
