CLEAR EYES FULL HEARTS • The Boston University women’s ice hockey team will begin a home-and- home series against Holy Cross on Friday night at the Hart Center. • Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ANOTHER ONE Holy Cross will be the 31st Division I team that the Terriers have played in program history, and the Crusaders will be the 29th current Division I program that the Terriers have skated against. • After this weekend, only Bemidji State, Colgate, Lindenwood and Syracuse will be unfamiliar foes for the Terriers. • Hart Center will be the 40th different rink that the Terriers have played in during the program’s 14-year history. HEAR ABOUT HOLY CROSS• The Crusaders are in their first full season in Division I.• They came less than a second from earning their second league win of the season, but Maine equalized with 0.4 ticks left on the clock to earn a 2-2 tie on Saturday in Worcester.• Holy Cross then lost to Maine, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon, to fall to 0-5-1 in its last six games.• The Crusaders are 1-19-3 overall, but the one win came against No. 3 Northeastern, 5-3, on Nov. 30.• Freshman Carlie Magier (5g, 5a) junior Rachel Moore (5g, 5a) and senior Julie Matthias (4g, 6a) are all tied for the team lead with 10 points.• Senior Maeve Reilly leads the squad with six goals while Matthias’ six assists are best on the team.• Freshman goaltender Jada Brenon has started 13 of the 14 games in which she has appeared, including the victory against Northeastern.• Brenon owns a 4.00 goals-against average and an .892 save percentage.• Sophomore Julia Pelletier has played 11 games, posting a 4.57 GAA and an .881 save percentage.

SWEEPING THE FRIARS• BU completed a weekend sweep of No. 8 Providence with a 4-2 home win on Saturday afternoon.• The Terriers scored three first-period goals, including two in a 28-second span to close out the frame, plus an insurance goal in the third period to seal the win.• Junior Natasza Tarnowski collected a career-high three points thanks to one goal and two assists.• Freshmen Courtney Correia and Mackenna Parker both scored in the first period while junior Deziray De Sousa’s power-play marker in the third period extended the Terriers’ lead to 4-2.• Freshman Kaleigh Donnelly matched her career high with two assists.• Sophomore Jesse Compher recorded her NCAA-leading 25th assist of the season while junior Breanna Scarpaci and redshirt junior Abbey Stanley each had one assist apiece for the second straight game. • Freshman Alex Allan added one assist.• Sophomore goaltender Corinne Schroeder made 32 saves.• She stopped all 17 shots she faced over the final 20 minutes, including seven saves on the penalty kill.

INSIDE FRIDAY’S WIN AT PROVIDENCE• Sophomore Nara Elia broke a 3-3 tie with 6:54 to play to lift BU to a 5-3 win at Providence on Jan. 11.• Junior Deziray De Sousa collected a career-high three points thanks to an empty-net goal and two assists, including a helper on Elia’s game-winner.• Redshirt junior Sammy Davis scored two goals a minute apart in the first period, with sophomore Jesse Compher providing the primary helper on both of Davis’ goals.• Freshman Emma Wuthrich also lit the lamp for BU.• Sophomore Kristina Schuler had the primary assist on the final two goals of the game.• Freshman Kaleigh Donnelly, junior Breanna Scarpaci and redshirt junior Abbey Stanley each added one assist apiece while sophomore goaltender Corinne Schroeder made 26 saves.

KEEP PROTECTING THOSE LEADS• BU improved to 9-0-2 this season when leading after two periods after its sweep of Providence.• The Terriers are an impressive 24-2-4 when leading after 40 minutes over the last two seasons.• BU is even better when leading by two or more goals after two periods, having lost only once in program history when holding such an advantage after 40 minutes of play.

SCORING FIRST HELPS, TOO• BU is now 9-0-2 this season when scoring first following its pair of victories over the Friars.• Conversely, the Terriers are just 2-6-3 when giving up the first goal.• Only 10 of the Terriers’ 43 wins over the past three seasons have come when they fall behind 1-0.

STILL ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN• Despite a second weekend sweep of a top-10 team this season, the Terriers remain on the cusp of entering the national polls.• BU received 19 votes in the USCHO.com poll and 12 votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll this week.• The Terriers improved to 4-4-1 against ranked opponents this season after their sweep of then-No. 8 Providence.

SCHROEDER IS DECEMBER’S BEST• Sophomore Corinne Schroeder was named the National Goaltender of the Month on Monday.• Schroeder posted a .964 save percentage, best among Division I goalies that made at least two starts, and a 1.02 goals-against average en route to a 3-0-1 record in December.• She began the month with a 37-save performance in a 4-2 win over BC on Dec. 1 and then followed that by stopping 49 of the 50 shots she faced in a weekend sweep at RIT. • The sophomore then closed the month with 20 saves in a 1-1 tie with Penn State on Dec. 30.

SCHROEDER NABS WEEKLY AWARD, TOO• For the second straight week, sophomore Corinne Schroeder was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.• She made 58 saves in the weekend sweep of No. 8 Providence, including 32 stops in Saturday’s 4-2 win.• Schroeder stopped all 17 shots she faced in Saturday’s third period, which included seven saves on the penalty kill.

HARD TO BEAT CORINNE LATELY• Sophomore goaltender Corinne Schroeder has been sensational for the Terriers this season.• The Friars’ first-period goal on Friday was the first 5-on-5 marker Schroeder had allowed in the last 332:07 she had played.• Jan. 11 was also the first time since Nov. 20 that she had allowed more than two goals.• Over her last seven starts, Schroeder has posted an NCAA-best 1.16 goals-against average and a league-best .955 save percentage. • For the season, Schroeder owns a 1.83 GAA and a .935 save percentage.

NEED A GOAL? CALL ON COMPHER• Jesse Compher continued her stellar sophomore season this past weekend with three assists in the sweep of Providence.• No other player in the country has more assists than Compher, who recorded her 25th helper on Saturday in the 4-2 win.• She also tallied two assists in the 5-3 win on Friday, her 12th multi-point game of the season.• That is tied for second most among all NCAA players.• Only five skaters have more multi-assist games than Compher, who recorded her fifth such effort at PC.

MORE ON COMPHER’S BIG YEAR• Compher is second in the country and first in Hockey East with 37 points (12g, 25a).• Compher is also first in the conference in points per game (1.68) and assists per game (1.14).• Those averages rank fourth and second, respectively, in the nation.• No player has recorded an assist in more games (18) this season than Compher.

DAVIS DYNAMITE FOR TERRIERS• Redshirt junior Sammy Davis tallied two goals a minute apart in the first period of the Terriers’ 5-3 win at Providence on Friday.• She enters the weekend tied for third in the league and eighth in the nation with 14 goals.• Davis is also tied for fourth in the league with a career-high 27 points.• She is one of three players in the league and 10 skaters in the NCAA with at least 10 multi-point efforts.

CAREER DAY FOR TARNOWSKI• Junior tri-captain Natasza Tarnowski collected a career-high three points in the 4-2 win over Providence on Jan. 12.• She scored the game-winning goal and assisted on two other markers, including an insurance goal in the third period.• Tarnowski’s last multi-point game came when she recorded two assists against Minnesota State on Nov. 24, 2017.• She enters this weekend with eight points on four goals and four assists.

CAREER NIGHT FOR DE SOUSA• Junior Deziray De Sousa collected a career-high three points in the 5-3 victory at Providence on Jan. 11.• She then followed that with a third-period goal in the 4-2 win over the Friars on Jan. 12.• Her second assist of the Jan. 11 contest came on the game-winner, and she then scored an empty-netter with 13.7 seconds to play.• She recorded at least two points for the first time since Jan. 21, 2018.• Her two helpers matched a career high set at Maine on Jan. 7, 2018.• Three of her four points on the weekend came in the third period.• De Sousa has tallied six points on four goals and two assists this year.

EMMA EXCELS AGAIN AGAINST BEST• Freshman Emma Wuthrich notched her second goal of the season in the 5-3 win at Providence on Jan. 11.• Both of Wuthrich’s goals have come on the road against ranked opponents.• Her first collegiate goal came in a 3-2 win at No. 4 Boston College on Nov. 30.• She enters this weekend with four points on two goals and two assists.

DONNELLY DELIVERS AGAIN• Freshman Kaleigh Donnelly has been outstanding over the past three games.• She has tallied five points - all assists - during that span, including a pair of two-point efforts.• Donnelly recorded a career-high two assists on Jan. 6 in a 3-0 win at Maine before doing the same in a 4-2 win over Providence on Jan. 12.• She has notched eight points (1g, 7a) this season.

TWO STRAIGHT FOR STANLEY• Redshirt junior Abbey Stanley recorded an assist in both victories over Providence this past weekend.• She had the primary helper on freshman Emma Wuthrich’s marker at PC on Jan. 11.• Stanley then assisted on junior Deziray De Sousa’s power-play goal the next day.• This is the second time this season that Stanley has recorded an assist in consecutive games.• She had three assists in two games in November, with the helpers coming in victories at UConn (4-1) and against Vermont (3-0).• Stanley enters the weekend with seven assists this season.
