September 1 st – September 21 st , 2020 Behavioral studies show that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. Let us join together to cultivate the habit of Prayer & Consecration. CONSECRATION - Making sacred; dedicating to the service and worship of God; separated from a common use to a sacred one. Metaphorically meaning perfect although not faultless, but bringing to a state of completion and fulfillment; to renew, to complete, mature, reaching the intended goal; to finish a work or duty. Consecration is a means by which we posture ourselves to draw nigh to hear from the Lord with greater clarity - submitting as He reveals areas of needed growth and obeying as He gives insight and direction for the future. Targeted prayer and dietary sacrifice are the disciplines which aid in seeking the face of God; and guidelines for each are provided below. This basic guideline is for those who are not accustomed to the discipline of prayer. Those who are intercessors and are active in the discipline of prayer, should continue their daily prayer regimen. I have personally observed that early morning prayer is best – as it affords the opportunity to approach the Lord before the distraction of the day’s activities. SUGGESTED TIME ALLOTMENTS FOR PRAYER (DURING ANY TIME OF THE DAY): Those who are beginning their prayer journey can feel free to complete the prayer time in segments throughout the day. Those who are more experienced in their life of prayer are free to complete the assigned time in one sitting. Sept 1 – Sept 3 Commit to pray thirty (30) minutes a day - ½ hour Sept 4 – 7 Commit to pray forty (45) minutes a day Sept 8 - 11 Commit to pray fifty (50) minutes a day Sept 12 – 15 Commit to pray sixty (65) minutes a day – 1 hour 5 minutes Sept 16 - 18 Commit to pray seventy (75) minutes a day – 1 hour 15 minutes Sept 19 – 21 Commit to pray ninety (90) minutes a day – 1 hour 30 minutes Matthew 18:18 – Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Nehemiah 4:9 - Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them. Isaiah 62:6-7 - I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. While we can come boldly to the Throne of Grace and offer any request at any time, an understanding of the prayer watches allows us to be strategic in targeting certain petitions during the specific timeslots in which we have committed to pray. As Intercessors, it is important that we remain consistent - on our post every day of the week. This weekend prayer template is provided to offer a reflective tool to recall and rehearse what we have learned about God through our time of study during the week. Father, I give thanks for the revelation of Your character, this week, through my study and meditation upon Your Names. I thank You that, as I engage with family and friends and ascend to worship this weekend, You will continue to manifest those attributes and show that You are, indeed, the great I AM - the God Who is everything that I need, in each and every circumstance which I encounter. AMEN.
