Whatrsquos Your Brand

Summertime is a great time to network advertise market and brand your business As the summer season winds down as business owners we

begin looking at the holiday season and where we want to take our business in the year to come I am like most business owners always looking

for the ldquonext big thingrdquo that is going to take my business and services to the next level

Recently at Urban Trendsetters we have increased our media and marketing services to include a new UTS Online Marketing Department as well

as our new media service UTS CItyView This is our new indoor and event digital billboard As publisher of Urban Trendsetters I started my

business like many of you I had no money but I had a vision desire and a commitment to make it happen NO MATTER WHAT Boy have I

learned a lot along the way You need more that idea vision and commitment You need a plan and strategy for success in business

As I begin my career as publisher of UTS I realized that as I attempted to help my clients and advertisers create their advertising marketing and

branding strategy I had not created my own I had to ask myself some questions as well Who was I What is my brand What do I do Why

should anyone listed to me What I began to realize was that not only did I have the answers but that I was developing my brand as I went along

I now needed to define it I also realized that the brand of my company begins with the branding of myself as the expert in my industry

I want to share a few notes on what I have learned throughout my experience Branding is much more than just a thoughtful logo or slogan and

its more than just a unique color scheme Below are the initial steps that need to be taken in order to start your successful brand image

Step 1 Examine the Competition

One of the keys to creating a successful brand image is to separate yourself from your competition You will need to know how consumers see

your competition You need to recognize how your competitors differentiate themselves from others Also you should know your competitors

strengths and weaknesses Your business can benefit from knowing this information by learning from their weaknesses and learning how to dif-

ferentiate your company from the competition

Step 2 Identify Your Strengths

Now that you know your competitions weaknesses you can begin to focus on your companys strengths Perform a target market analysis learn

from it and use it to your advantage This is a useful tool to confirm your companys strengths are in fact important to your target market Once

youve realized your strengths and what strengths are important to customers you can think about ways to successfully market these to the public

and involve them in your branding campaign

Step 3 Know Your Customer

Learn more about the customer Know their purchasing behavior How often do they buy Do they buy only during sales or promotions Do they

buy an array of products or services or just a select few These are questions you should ask to better market to your customers Also know your

customers lifestyles needs mindsets and attitudes Knowing and working with these personality traits are also key to marketing success

Step 4 Be Your Brand

Make sure your company truly represents what your brand identifies you with For example if one of the traits your brand identifies your compa-

ny with is being positive be positive This means every employee from the receptionist all the way up to the CEO needs to live your brand

Once you have tackled these steps you are well on your way to better advertising networking promotions and marketing campaigns and strate-

gies for you and your business because you have set the standard for your brand For more information and coaching on creating your business or

EDUCATION TRENDS

(NAPSI)mdashAs schools increasingly turn to the Internet and new technologies

more and more students are asked to perform online research grades and

assignments are posted on websites and communication between teachers

and parents and students is done through e-mail Because of this itrsquos increas-

ingly important for families to have access to the Internet at home

Unfortunately about 30 percent of Americans particularly those from low-

income communities are still not connected to the Internet at home Re-

search shows the main reasons include a lack of understanding of how the

Internet is relevant and useful to daily life the cost of a home computer and

the cost of Internet service

To combat these barriers therersquos Internet Essentials from Comcast the na-

tionrsquos largest and most comprehensive broadband adoption program Itrsquos

connected more than 350000 families since 2011 or about 14 million low-

income Americans to the power of the Internet

The program offers families with at least one child eligible for the National

School Lunch Program in-home Internet for $995 a month the opportunity

to buy a computer for less than $150 and access to free digital literacy train-

ing

To help even more families get online Comcast now offers up to six months

of complimentary Internet service for all eligible families that sign up for

Internet Essentials through September 20 2014

Also new this year to engage more families therersquos an amnesty program As

long as the customer meets all other eligibility criteria Comcast will offer

amnesty for an outstanding bill thatrsquos more than a year old so the family can

now be eligible to connect to Internet Essentials

Based on customer surveys 98 percent of families said they signed up for

Internet Essentials because their kids need it for school and 83 percent said

their childrsquos school expected that students have online access at home

Additionally home Internet gives kids and their parents access to useful

online educational activities such as Khan Academy a nonprofit that pro-

vides a free world-class education for anyone anywhere through

Until few years back it was virtually impossible to envisage how mobile

apps would make our life easier in many spheres More than 80 percent of all

mobile phones are smart phones and this is the reason why businesses are

inclined towards using the concept of apps and mobility in their day-to-day

activities Organizations already using an app have shown the world how

their use has helped in augmenting the annual revenue and how they can in-

fluence the overall modus operandi of any business organization

One of the several advantages of using a mobile business app is the freedom

to process data in real time You do not have to wait for data to be updated

and by a mobile business app you can immediately collect the data and pro-

cess it Few business apps are known as the spiritual partners of the employ-

ees as they have helped a lot in increasing their productivity They help in

updating the inventory faster than before checking the prices very quickly

and simplifying the payment process

Business apps not only help a business in the internal process but they also

allow it to maintain a highly responsive and spontaneous customer care ser-

vice Business apps have eased the process of contacting a client regardless

of where he is An insurance agent for example can easily submit reports for

the claims right from the scene of the accident if he owns a smart phone He

can also use a GPS system to order a tow truck and get it much faster than

before This responsiveness can only be achieved with a business app and it

is only due to this that more and more businesses want to avail the benefit of

the latest technology called mobile business apps The fashion industry has

given a heartily welcome to the concept of mobile business apps and the

people there have been using it to achieve greater success in lesser time Peo-

ple working in this industry say that they save a considerable amount of time

by dressing and applying makeup on the clients with the help of a mobile

business app

Another industry that has most benefitted by mobile business applications is

the IT industry Industry experts say that they are finding these technological

upheavals challenging to use but beneficial at the same time Prior to busi-

ness apps the biggest challenge faced by IT professionals was gathering and

rendering the data The advent of mobile apps and cloud computing has sort-

ed this issue completely Better and faster exchange of critical data has made

IT industry admire and advocate the big scale usage of mobile business apps

With the aid of an app the team leader can send a one push-off message to

his entire team Not only this a technical support executive can respond to

any query from any location at any time This is commendable as it helps in

maintaining the fluency of the business services rendered by the employees

regardless of physical boundaries and take care of every clients with their

actions

I feel that the impacts of mobile apps are undoubtedly great as they influ-

ence the entire business process in some way or the other However for this

a business has to get an appropriate app which can help in savings time as

well as money and give a better return on the money invested in building an

app Contact Urban Trendsetters today for a Business App Consultation at

The Annual International Locks Conference Asks

ldquoWhere is Nu Ms Natural Sistardquo The Nu Ms Natural Sista Challenge to take place at the 2014 Annual International Locks Conference in Philadelphia

Conference aims to uplift and restore Black women (Aboriginal Indigenous African American and Africans of the Diaspora) back on their majestic thrones where they

historically belong

Unfortunately the western standard of beauty has been imported globally and promoted fiercely through electronic media print ads and school courses and sadly accepted as the marching baton for what is considered beautiful professional and desirable Further beauty pageants have objectified women and have aided in the dis-

torted view of what true beauty is The result of shameless often in-sulting and negative images and connotations linked to Black women has led to many women and young girls bleaching their skin chang-ing the texture and color of their hair and wearing clothes that defy modest and good taste thus damaging their self-concept and creat-ing low to no self-esteem This needs to stop The days of accepting

being treated in part like Sarah Baartman (given the name Hottentot Venus) a South African woman sold into slavery during the early 19th century or being portrayed as out-of-shape mammies prostitutes undesirable unintelligent loud not worthy of praise andor some-thing less than royalty are over The Kuumba Family Organizing Committee is determined to dig deeper and work to combat the overwhelming negativity toward and about Black women in general The goal of the Nu Ms Natural Sista Challenge is to help uplift and restore the Black women (Aboriginal Indigenous African American Africans of the Diaspora) back on their majestic thrones where they historically belong The Nu Ms Natural Sista challenge looks at the outer and inner beauty and high-lights positive connections to the community and how the African worldview and a different non-western standard of beauty can be viewed and admired Women who are Aboriginal Indigenous African American and Afri-cans of the Diaspora and are interested in participating are asked to download an application and follow the instructions at the website wwwLocksConferencecom before September 5 2014 Everyone is invited to come out and celebrate as the Nu Ms Natural Sista(s) emerges at the Annual International Locks Conference Natural Hair Wholistic Health and Beauty Expo Sunday October 5 2014 at 730PM at the Imhotep Institute Charter High School For more information call 215-438-8189 or go to wwwLocksConferencecom

Once you have tackled these steps you are well on your way to better advertising networking promotions and marketing campaigns and strate-

gies for you and your business because you have set the standard for your brand For more information and coaching on creating your business or

personal brand feel free to contact me a t sharonsgordongmailcom Take care and Be Blessed

by dressing and applying makeup on the clients with the help of a mobile

business app

Once you have tackled these steps you are well on your way to better advertising networking promotions and marketing campaigns and strate-

gies for you and your business because you have set the standard for your brand For more information and coaching on creating your business or

personal brand feel free to contact me a t sharonsgordongmailcom Take care and Be Blessed

Business apps not only help a business in the internal process but they also

allow it to maintain a highly responsive and spontaneous customer care ser-

vice Business apps have eased the process of contacting a client regardless

of where he is An insurance agent for example can easily submit reports for

the claims right from the scene of the accident if he owns a smart phone He

can also use a GPS system to order a tow truck and get it much faster than

before This responsiveness can only be achieved with a business app and it

is only due to this that more and more businesses want to avail the benefit of

the latest technology called mobile business apps The fashion industry has

given a heartily welcome to the concept of mobile business apps and the

people there have been using it to achieve greater success in lesser time Peo-

ple working in this industry say that they save a considerable amount of time

by dressing and applying makeup on the clients with the help of a mobile

business app

the IT industry Industry experts say that they are finding these technological

upheavals challenging to use but beneficial at the same time Prior to busi-

ness apps the biggest challenge faced by IT professionals was gathering and

With the aid of an app the team leader can send a one push-off message to

his entire team Not only this a technical support executive can respond to

any query from any location at any time This is commendable as it helps in

maintaining the fluency of the business services rendered by the employees

regardless of physical boundaries and take care of every clients with their

actions

I feel that the impacts of mobile apps are undoubtedly great as they influ-

ence the entire business process in some way or the other However for this

a business has to get an appropriate app which can help in savings time as

well as money and give a better return on the money invested in building an

app Contact Urban Trendsetters today for a Business App Consultation at

ldquoWhere is Nu Ms Natural Sistardquo The Nu Ms Natural Sista Challenge to take place at the 2014 Annual International Locks Conference in Philadelphia

With the aid of an app the team leader can send a one push-off message to

his entire team Not only this a technical support executive can respond to

any query from any location at any time This is commendable as it helps in

maintaining the fluency of the business services rendered by the employees

regardless of physical boundaries and take care of every clients with their

actions

I feel that the impacts of mobile apps are undoubtedly great as they influ-

ence the entire business process in some way or the other However for this

a business has to get an appropriate app which can help in savings time as

well as money and give a better return on the money invested in building an

app Contact Urban Trendsetters today for a Business App Consultation at

torted view of what true beauty is The result of shameless often in-sulting and negative images and connotations linked to Black women has led to many women and young girls bleaching their skin chang-ing the texture and color of their hair and wearing clothes that defy modest and good taste thus damaging their self-concept and creat-ing low to no self-esteem This needs to stop The days of accepting

being treated in part like Sarah Baartman (given the name Hottentot Venus) a South African woman sold into slavery during the early 19th century or being portrayed as out-of-shape mammies prostitutes undesirable unintelligent loud not worthy of praise andor some-thing less than royalty are over The Kuumba Family Organizing Committee is determined to dig deeper and work to combat the overwhelming negativity toward and about Black women in general The goal of the Nu Ms Natural Sista Challenge is to help uplift and restore the Black women (Aboriginal Indigenous African American Africans of the Diaspora) back on their majestic thrones where they historically belong The Nu Ms Natural Sista challenge looks at the outer and inner beauty and high-lights positive connections to the community and how the African worldview and a different non-western standard of beauty can be viewed and admired Women who are Aboriginal Indigenous African American and Afri-cans of the Diaspora and are interested in participating are asked to download an application and follow the instructions at the website wwwLocksConferencecom before September 5 2014 Everyone is invited to come out and celebrate as the Nu Ms Natural Sista(s) emerges at the Annual International Locks Conference Natural Hair Wholistic Health and Beauty Expo Sunday October 5 2014 at 730PM at the Imhotep Institute Charter High School For more information call 215-438-8189 or go to wwwLocksConferencecom
