Welcome to a time of Sabbath, rest, and renewal
\September 2, 2018
Glade Matters
Shared moments of information and inspiration about our church family
Prelude “Ave Maria” Bach/Gounod (Bonnie Clowes, Soprano)
*Processional Hymn “I Sing the Mighty Power of God” #12
*Call to Worship
L: You are the One for whom we search, O God,
P: and we worship you because you have found us. L: You are the hope for which we yearn, O Christ,
P: and so we follow you to serve at your side. L: You are the peace which can calm us, Holy Spirit,
P: and so we open our brokenness so you might fill us
*Prayer of Invocation (Unison)
All mighty and ever forgiving God, we may long to be in your house, but our
deeds show how tough it is for us to live there. Called to follow, we search for
paths to take us back to our old ways; given the words of eternal life, we weakly
proclaim the gospel to others; offered the path of salvation to walk upon, we
stumble down the rocky roads of our world.
Forgive us, all loving God, Strengthen us with your Spirit, so we may serve your
people with all that brings them life. Let your Word, Jesus Christ, the One we
have come to believe and know is our Lord and Savior, be confirmed in us in
every word, every deed, every thought, every moment in the days to come. Amen
Time With Children
Scripture Reading Psalm 22:1-5 Hebrews 4:14-16 and Matthew 14:1-32
L: The Word of God for the people of God.
P: Thanks be to God!

Leader : The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Leader: Let us pray…
Silent Prayer
Prayer
The Prayer Jesus taught Us
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.

community as a private, non-profit organization since 1965. A leader in creating
services that respond to the changing mental health needs in our community, the
Mental Health Association of Frederick County is a place where people can be
heard and receive support. Their programs aspire to promote positive mental health
and offer not just education, but the support and compassion needed to make real
and lasting changes in the lives of those they serve. Your support enables them to
provide suicide/crisis intervention, professional therapy services on a sliding scale
basis, trained advocates for children in the foster care system, and child abuse
prevention programs that strengthen and empower Frederick’s children and
families.
