Word From The Pastor

Be Still…

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalms 46:10 NIV

My daughter who just turned 1 has finally started letting daddy hold her around bedtime. The other night as I sat in her room and rocked her to sleep I could not help but think about my heavenly father. As a the father of my daughter it felt so good to just hold her in my arms and rock her back and forth. To look into her ha-zel eyes, rub her back, and whisper prayers over her young life, culminated into one of many unforgettable fatherly experiences I have had the privilege of knowing. Just moments before however, she had been squirming, crying, throwing her body every which way trying to avoid the dreaded bedtime. This made me think about the time I spend with my heavenly father. Many times those moments are full of tension from a hard day, pleading for guidance over tough decisions that must be made, whining and complaining over the difficulties of life, and perhaps a hurried thank you for one blessing or another I have received. It is a far too rare occasion that I just crawl up in my father’s arms and rest in stillness. Over the past few days I have started implementing this lesson my daughter taught me. My time with the Lord each day begins and ends with stillness. I attempt to start and end each day in my father’s arms sitting in stillness. I enjoy gazing into His Heavenly eyes, and hear-ing His sweet, small, tender voice as He holds me close and reminds me of His love. It has changed my life. Give it a try, and remember the words “Be still, and know that I am God”

Things are getting exciting on the covered facility. The piers have been poured and the building is on the ground. It took 18 truck loads to de-liver all the metal! The building should be erected early in September and completion is expected to be in December. Thanks to all who have made this possible with your financial support and prayers. Pray for the next phase and continue to help with your contributions. If you haven’t done so, please go take a look at the progress. God bless you all from your building team! As for Phase 2, for the month of August you all have do-nated $6976.00. Thank you for your donations and for continuing to sup-port this vision for Cowboy Fellowship! If you would like to make a dona-tion to our building fund you may do so by clicking here:

Lest We Forget

September 11, 2001 - September 11, 2011

This month we are celebrating another kind of American Hero along with our military heroes. The first responders to the attacks on the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, and the heroes on flight 93. May God bless all those who lost their lives and all who lost loved ones on September

11, 2001, at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on flight 93. The courage and sacrifice shown by the FDNY firefighters, the NYC Police and EMS, along

with the civilians on Flight 93 will never be forgotten. We will remember 9/11/2001.

The Acts Report

Matthew 25:35 God really blessed our Team this week by bring-ing a truly homeless fam-ily to our attention. The family had nothing but a few changes of clothes each and was made up of a mom (who has found a part time job and is trying to find full time work) and her three children. With God's grace and direction we were able to get them low income housing at the very last minute which was a miracle in itself. We got their water and electricity turned on, one bed, din-ing table & chairs, a TV, dishes, pots and pans, blankets & pillows and food to get them by until their assistance comes in next month. If you have ANY household appli-ances, a twin bed (or two), a full sized mat-tress, a small couch and/or chair, TV stand, etc. please let us know by calling Cowboy Fellow-ship or dropping our

team a FB email. God Bless You!

Thanks to your gener-osity we were also able to bless several local fami-lies with school supplies, above and beyond what we had already donated to CAM!

These supplies went to a young Pleasanton family in need.

School supplies for three Christine kids. A kinder, 1st and a 2nd grader.

Ministry Updates

Welcome to the Cowboy Fellowship Kitchen Ministry! The kitchen ministry has a very valuable role at Cowboy Fellowship, not only do we prep the coffee and donuts for Sunday services, but we also work behind the scenes to provide an enjoyable eating experience for monthly potlucks and other events! Our team is dedicated to the “I’m Third” concept, we all have servant hearts to serve our Lord and others in our community. We pride our-selves in giving the best fellowship and service that we can provide for our guests as well as our fellow church members. We are always looking for new volunteers to help in the kitchen and would love for anyone to join our great TEAM! Please come by and see us every Sun-day morning and get to know us! We look forward to seeing and meeting everyone soon. If you would like to volunteer please see Gigi Manning in the kitchen or email me at [email protected].

Fall Festival 2011 it’s time to start preparing for Fall Festival 2011. This year we will be focusing on God’s pro-tections and strength. Psalm 9:9 The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times

of trouble. We are working with the community to make this a great time for all! Candy buckets will be out on September 18th and we need lots of candy! Volunteer lists will be out

Oct. 2nd and there are several different options for volunteering available. Please take time to let God guide you to the task best suited for you.

Building Update ~continued~ Hey as many of you have seen, the dirt work is 95% complete, the piers are poured and the steel has started to arrive. Any great project has difficulties on and off and the key to any good work is flexibility.

These last two weeks have been key for us. The steel manufacture had an industrial cutter go off line and it set back our initial arrival date of the steel. Nonetheless, they got back online and are up and cutting again, and the entire building should finish arriving this week. We have already received some of the truck loads last week.

So what do we have to look forward to? A really great September! I believe that is when you will start see-ing some of the major changes in upward mobility. Right now, as you can tell by the photos, it has been grad-ual with the building of the pad and the pouring of the piers.

Now that the heat will start taking a downward trend as we draw closer to the fall and winter, I would like to encourage many of you to take time and come and look at the progress made each week, at a safe dis-tance of course, and pray over it. Pray for how it will be used, pray for the people that it will impact, pray for the souls of the lost, and minister to the people who already have a relationship with Christ, pray about how God would move on us to help our community and how to be a good steward of what he has allowed us to build. Pray that wounds will be healed, forgiveness to be found, forgiveness to be given, and that it would be a place of peace, that God would be kind enough to bless it with protection, so that those who are lost would come into His protection, be able to find solace and comfort in the words that will be spoken to them here, pray that this will be a place of hope for those who have lost hope. Again, that it would be God that would be mov-ing and doing these things through us.

I encourage you to not lose hope in your prayers and the difference it makes in our world and the spiritual world. If you want I will post pictures in the evenings of some of the work that has been done that day on my Facebook page during the week, so that you may take some time to stop by and see the work that is go-ing on if you don’t have the ability or time to come out yourselves during the week.

Have a great day, and I know that like you, I am looking forward to the month of December and the building being completed, pending how weather impacts the project.

*****Realize****** I wanted to take a moment and try to share a series of articles that help on finding hope, giving hope, that help council, that help wade through emotions, that help discern truth, and finally, that help give direction. I have a bachelors in psychology and I am getting ready to try to work towards my mas-ters, and if any of you come in, I reveal to you that I will help you the best way I know how, and that is by using the Word of God a light, and working together to shine a light onto the areas you are having problems with, so we can better see how to seek out a solution or to resolve them. So this will be the first of many articles. I pray that they will help you as you seek out God to help you where you’re at. If you have any questions at any time please let me know.

Foundation: No matter what situation you find yourself in recognize what is our foundation for why you are doing what you are doing. Consider this. 1 Corinthians 3: 9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building. 10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, sil-ver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.

I know that we all do not have gold, and we all do not have straw, but I know that we all have been

given something to build with and for each one of us it’s different. But it’s not what you physically build

with that makes a difference of survival, it’s what your spiritual quality of what you build with that deter-

mines if it lasts or not.

Think about that for a moment, “it’s not so much what you build with, but it’s your spiritual quality on

what you build” that is what determines what survives or not.

So does your thought process start off with, “God how do I do what’s right in this situation, what would

you want me to do, and how am I to honor you?” No matter what you encounter, no matter how good or

how bad the circumstance is, realize that it is your spiritual response to the situation that determines the

long term outcome of it.

So do you want the work that you do here on earth to be worth something? Or are you going to

be one who escapes the flames? Take what you have and build on the right foundation, the Word of God,

so that your life that you have lived has made a difference not just to others, but to honor the foundation of

Jesus and the sacrifice He made for you. He wants to give you life, will you take it?

Next month I will focus on Endurance because now that you are taking time to focus on what you are build-

ing on, you need to know how to endure the process of building. It might not be easy at times.

Saturday Night Service

As you might remember, last May we announced that the Saturday night leadership team had voted to suspend the Saturday night services for the summer. There were many reasons for that decision being made that I won’t go into in this article because they have already been discussed at length. The Saturday night leadership team and several people from the Saturday night ser-vices formed the Saturday night development team. This team met each Saturday night throughout the summer to pray, discuss, and at times debate, issues about the Saturday night service. It was decided a few weeks ago at our last meeting that there would no longer be any Saturday night services. This was a hard decision for the team to make. Each member of the team, along with the staff, had really grown to love the services. However, the more we prayed the more apparent it became that God was not leading us to start the services up again this fall. It would be impossible to explain everything that was discussed throughout the summer in our meetings that lead us to this conclusion. However, if you want a fuller explanation you can ask anyone that participated on the Saturday night development team or one of our staff members. The writer of Ecclesiastes proclaimed “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven…” The Saturday night services over the last two years served a great pur-pose! People where saved, discipled, and brought into the church through the services. Our band, greeters, kitchen crew, children’s volunteers, and many others found a great sense of ful-fillment and purpose in their individual ministries as well. None of us know why God has lead us to do this, or ended this season so soon. We only know that His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways. His thoughts and ways are much higher than ours, and we can only trust and believe that God has a plan and purpose for leading our church in this direction. I want to personally thank all of the members of our Saturday night development team. They worked so hard and labored so greatly in prayer over the past few months, and for doing so on behalf of God’s kingdom, they are to be commended. I also want to thank all of our regular attendees on Saturday night, many of you have already found a home with our congre-gation on Sunday morning, and some of you have joined teams and volunteered to serve, thank you for graciously supporting this decision and continuing to be a part of God’s church! God continues to do amazing things here at Cowboy Fellowship and I firmly believe that He will continue His good work in each of us and our church in the days ahead. If you have any ques-tions please don’t hesitate to ask. Pastor Pete
