Drive By History (Wednesdays at 8pm premiering September 23), showcases New Jersey’s diverse historical record — a crossroads during the American Revolution, the cradle of the American film industry, the site of the first organized baseball game, a catalyst for establishing the US Coast Guard, among others — in an authentic and entertaining way. Follow hosts Ken Magos and Cindy Perman around the Garden State as they investigate history markers, plaques or signs commemorating an event or person of historical interest, that thousands of drivers pass on a daily basis, but rarely have time to stop and read, such as “Cliff Hanger Point” in Fort Lee and “Tory Corner” in West Orange. The premiere episode explores how 19th century businessmen recognized the natural landscape and water cascading down the Short Hills into Millburn could bring tremendous prosperity to the area. It also focuses on the Jersey Shore, and how a visit from First Lady of the United States Mary Todd Lincoln transformed the fortunes of Long Branch for years to come. With the help of staff historian Anthony Bernard (pictured) and local scholars, delve deeper into the stories behind those history markers, uncovering the events, places and people who make up New Jersey’s unique history. Over the summer, Driving Jersey underwent a transformation into Here’s the Story, a new series focused on the stories of people’s lives, passions, talents, preoccupations and rites-of-passage against the backdrop of New Jersey and the tri-state area. In its first episode, Play On (Wed. September 2 at 8pm), producer Steve Rogers spent a year following the progress of Tinton Falls public school music teacher Nicole DePresca and her 3rd grade classes as they prepared, practiced and performed their annual spring concert. The amazing results of their hard work must be seen, and heard, to be believed. Tracing a string of notorious animal mutilations alleged to involve Anglo-Indian lawyer George Edalji, world- famous author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Martin Clunes, Doc Martin) puts down his pen and turns detective. Recently paroled Edalji wants Doyle to help him clear his name. In researching the case, Doyle interprets the affair as blatant racism against a family viewed as outsiders by the locals. With Doyle’s private secretary Alfred Wood (Charles Edwards, Downton Abbey) acting as his Watson, Doyle encounters mounting twists and turns, with the reputation of himself, Edalji and the fictional Sherlock Holmes on the line.

In its

first episode, Play On (Wed. September 2 at 8pm), producer Steve Rogers spent a year following the progress of Tinton Falls public school music teacher Nicole DePresca and her

3rd grade classes as they prepared, practiced and performed their annual spring concert. The amazing results of their hard work must be seen, and heard, to be believed.

Tracing a string of notorious animal mutilations alleged to involve Anglo-Indian lawyer George Edalji, world-famous author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Martin Clunes, Doc Martin) puts down his pen and turns detective.
