PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Bienvenue a l'année scolaire 2019-20. J'espère que tout le monde s’est bien reposé durant les vacances d'été, et que vous êtes prêts a vous impliquer dans vos études ainsi que les activités parascolaires cette année. I would like to welcome
everyone back to ESBCHS and I hope you are feeling refreshed from summer holidays and ready for another great year. To those of you who are new to our school, please know that you have joined a very special school community and that we are delighted to have you with us. We are looking forward to another great year, and there are already lots of things going on both in and out of classes. Please encourage your child to get involved as there’s something for just about everyone! We have already had our Welcome Back Assembly and first Bandit Challenge as well as a very successful Terry Fox Run and Welcome Back BBQ. Teams, student groups and clubs are up and running, this coming weekend our senior volleyball teams host the 21st annual Philip Oh Volleyball Tournament, and please remember to keep an eye out for the
November musical theatre production of Bring It On! This Thursday, September 26th at 7:00 pm will be the AGM for our School Council Meeting and I invite all parents and guardians to attend. We have a very energetic, positive and supportive council and we look forward to another great year! Since I have started sharing weekly messages known as “Peacocke’s Principal Points for Parents” that you can find on our school website, my monthly Newsletter messages will be much shorter. I encourage you to please read my weekly messages to keep up with the many amazing things going on here at ESBCHS. Go Bandits!

ORANGE SHIRT DAY - SEPTEMBER 30, 2019
Orange Shirt Day is to honour and remember
the experiences and loss of the thousands of
children who were stolen from their families
and placed in Residential Schools. Orange
Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations,
local governments, schools and communities
to come together in the spirit of reconciliation
and hope for generations of children to come.
Please wear orange on Monday, September
30th.
This past July, 32 ESBCHS students
traveled to Italy and Greece for the
Ancient Empires tour. The 10 day tour
was an enriching experience and we are
proud of how well our students
represented our school and Canada as a
whole. The Ancient Empires tour gave
our students a deeper understanding of
ancient culture and it’s impact on our
current civilization. Some of the
highlights of the tour included: The
Duomo, Uffizi Gallery and sparkling
water fountain in Florence; the Trevi
Fountain, Piazza Novona, Vatican City
and the Colosseum in Rome; the ruins of
Pompeii, the ruins at Delphi, Itea beach
and the Acropolis.
Stay tuned to find out what we are
planning for July 2021!
