Message From the Office WELCOME BACK! Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We are delighted to greet students returning for another year of learning and extend a warm welcome to our new students who are joining us for the first time. SCHOOL CODE OF CONDUCT
Beaumonde Heights is committed to providing a healthy learning and working environment by promoting respect, civility, safety, responsible citizenship and academic excellence. As parents, teachers and students, we are all responsible for fostering a safe, civil and mutually respectful school climate here at Beaumonde Heights. Equity, inclusion and respect are critical components embedded in the learning environment. Respect can only be fostered when our school environment is free of violence and abuse, be it physical or verbal. To this end, these standards of comportment and the commitment to combat oppression, discrimination and racism, falls to all of us. We all share the responsibility of an inclusive, empowering and equitable community where everyone feels safe, respected and heard.
SAFE & SECURE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
The teachers and staff at Beaumonde are all committed to providing your children with learning experiences that will support high achievement in a well-balanced educational program. Our goal is to help our students develop into confident, knowledgeable, well rounded and responsible individuals who will be prepared for the challenges of the 21st century. We also know that your involvement in your children’s education is one of the most critical factors in their success. We want to work in partnership with you to ensure that each child at Beaumonde succeeds. At Beaumonde JMS we work diligently to maintain a safe & secure learning environment for our students. We kindly ask all parents/visitors to please respect our safe entry process and sign in at the main office upon entry into our school. Visitor passes must be worn by all parents/visitors at all times when in the school. We thank everyone for supporting our safe entry process. We ask all parents/visitors to respect this safety procedure and not to proceed into classrooms during school hours in order to prevent disruption of the learning environment. Parents must use the main office as a pick up and drop off point for students during school hours and not go directly to the classrooms. We are ready! We are excited! It is going to be a wonderful year at Beaumonde! Warmest regards, Ms. Roach and Mrs. Kochberg

Arriving at School on Time It is very important that all students arrive at school on time. If they are just a few minutes late, they will miss very important aspects of each day’s lesson. Please assist your child(ren) to wake up, get ready and arrive at school on time. For safety reasons, all our doors will be locked including the FRONT DOOR. Children who are late for school must come through the front door and obtain a late slip from the office before going to their classrooms. September Forms Please note that your child is bringing
home an extensive package of forms and
information that is needed to start the
school year. Please take time to read all
the information carefully and return the
required paperwork as soon as possible.
Nut Free Environment Beaumonde Heights JMS is a nut free environment.
Some of our students suffer from a severe allergy to nuts
and nut products. These children need to maintain
constant vigilance in their daily lives as they can develop
potentially life threatening allergic reactions to some
foods. Some children are so sensitive to these products
that even touching or smelling the food may trigger a
severe reaction.
The following is a partial list of the prime possibility
danger foods that may be hazardous to these children and
must not be sent to school. This list is a composite list of
allergens and not specific to any one child: peanut, nuts,
sesame seeds, peanut oil, nut oils, sesame oil, peanut
flour, and nut flower. For this reason we ask that you
do not send food to school for your child’s birthday or
special occasions.

STUDENT ABSENCE AND SAFE ARRIVAL PROGRAMME If your child is going to be late or absent for any part of the school day, we urge you to phone the School’s Safe Arrival line at (416) 394 - 7796 (PRESS: 1) and leave a message. Please state clearly your child’s name, the teacher’s name, and the reason for the absence or lateness. Our voicemail system can take the call at any time that is convenient to you, including weekends and early morning hours. The system will call out to contact the parent or guardian of a child who is absent and for whom we have not received a phone call. LOST AND FOUND
Each year a large number of items are lost by our students. To avoid the loss of expensive clothing items, please label your child’s clothing (sweater, jacket, hat, mittens, etc.) and the staff will do their best to help your child locate his/her missing clothing.
INDOOR/OUTDOOR SHOES Cleanliness in schools is essential. It conveys respect to students, creates a more pleasant learning environment, and tends to improve student behaviour. You can assist us in maintaining the cleanliness of the school by ensuring that your child has two pairs of shoes enabling him/her to change after entering the building. This will prevent student from unnecessarily tracking dirt and mud onto the classroom floor and carpeted areas. Indoor shoes should be kept at school.
School Council
Each TDSB school is required to have a School Council made up of the principal, parents, teachers, support staff, students (secondary schools), and community members. The purpose of the council is to actively engage parents to improve student success. It also provides a regular opportunity for its members to discuss how to make the school a better place for learning for its students. The principal brings important information about the school to the School Council. The School Council, in turn, advises the principal on matters related to the learning goals of the school, the school’s policies and procedures, students’ needs, activities and resources for students and parents, and ways of involving parents in the life of the school. The School Council is required to hold at least four general meetings each school year that are open to all parents in the school. The elected chair of the council is a parent of a child in the school. More information along with the nomination form for the School Council Executive (Chair, Secretary and Treasurer) will be sent home on Monday, September 9th 2019.
