Why Buy Locally Owned? THINK LOCKHART FIRST! There are many benefits to THINK local, BUY lo-cal and BE local. By buying local, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses and service provid-ers, which continues to strengthen the economic base of OUR COMMUNITY. Where we shop, where we eat and have fun, all of it makes our community home. OUR one-of-a-kind businesses are an integral part of the dis-tinctive character of OUR COMMUNITY. Buying local does not mean walling off the out-side world. It means nurturing locally owned businesses which use local resources, employ local workers at decent wages and serve primar-ily local consumers. It means becoming more self-sufficient and less dependant on imports. Con-trol moves from the boardrooms of distant corpo-rations and back into the community, where it belongs. Local businesses are owned by people who live in OUR community, are less likely to leave and are more invested in OUR community’s welfare and well-being. For example, on average, small, lo-cally-owned business donate more to local chari-ties than non-local owners.
The unique character of OUR local community is defined in large part by the business that reside here, and that plays a big factor in OUR overall satisfaction with where we live and the value of OUR home and property.
So, take control of OUR economy. Make that concerted effort buy from OUR local businesses as often as possible, and in doing so, securing an economy which will sustain the future and en-courage the responsible growth of Lockhart.
Angela Rawlinson President/CEO
