FROM THE EDITOR.
Thank you to those who have sent in photos
of their growing areas. We need more mem-
bers to send them in, to be put in our news-
letter—orchid crawling by proxy. Have you
seen ideas you can use in these pics? I did.
We now have a few people with their wish
plants on the “Wish List” . Is there a particu-
lar orchid you are after? - then ask for it to
be added—you might get lucky.
Christmas Party is not far off—details will
be given soon.
2019 will see two events close by.
1] A workshop to be held at Batemans Bay
in March, with speakers and orchids from
top nurseries for sale.
2] South West Conference & Orchid Show
to be held at Moruya, in October. Orchids
will be on sale. :) A.M.

SPRING 2018 SHOW
Well, what a Spring Show. From thinking that plant num-
bers would be down and profits also would be down, an
incredible 240 plants were benched, which I am told is a
record, and a very decent profit was made. Rod will out-
line financial details in his Report.
When members were asked, you stood up and helped
out, filling the gaps of those members who normally help
out and were unavailable for various reasons. Thank you.
A very big thank you to those members who worked over
the three days, from setting up on Friday, to packing up
on Sunday, a job well done.
This show, with its one long bench of Dendrobium Specio-
sums and, one long bench of Hybrids, was a display to
behold.
I would like to thank the members and visiting members
from other Societies and Clubs, who benched plants, 25
exhibitors overall.
Congratulations to the Championship Winners, especially
Elizabeth and Tony Karacsonyi, who took out the Champi-
on of the Show and the Reserve Champion of the Show.
Congratulations to the Novice Champion, Helen Douglas,
who exhibited only for the second time.
Congratulations to all winners and runners up, in each
class.
An excellent Show and an excellent result.
Bruce McIntosh,
President

NOVICE CORNER by A.M. & J.C.
All novices need help.
Our questions need answers and we learn by doing, seeing, hearing and picking the
brains of experience growers.
If you have a question—send it to the editor and we will try to find the answer for
you.
Micronutrients—your orchids need these to be healthy. Found this chart while looking for information on plant mineral deficiencies. Now you too can read, look and worry like I am. So, yes, you do need to fertilise and with one or more that will cover all the minerals , etc—your orchid needs.

<- The President cooks a great breakfast.
:) [yummy] :)
Welcome to our virtual orchid crawl.
Each month we will show you some of our members’ orchid growing
areas, plus some pictures of special guests’ orchid growing areas.
From John Clancy [ Open ] - well braced door, extra winter covers.
Mitch [ very experienced], our friendly, potting demonstration ex-
pert ,has many interesting orchid growing areas. Barbed wire strung
between trees for cymbidiums—great air flow. Marque[ reinforced] for
a multitude of orchids. An orchid house can have more than 4 sides—he
made one to fit the space and shape of land available. :)
Spring Show 2018—a few photos.
Great turn out of orchids in both sections.
We had many enthusiastic, willing workers—
selling tickets, greeting visitors, making posies
plus many other occupations. :)
Mitch was there on Saturday doing many, in-
formative potting demonstrations. :)
