Dear Friends of Tiger Band, It is a privilege and an honor to be writing this letter to you as the President of FOTB. I would like to extend my thanks to Jeff Bagdis '08 for his last two years of service as FOTB President, and indeed to all previous FOTB officers and directors for building and maintaining such a wonderful organization. The strength of this organization can be measured in any number of ways. One important way is your financial support for the Band, and last year was a record-setting year! A special thank you goes out to the Class of 2008 who, in honor of their 5th Reunion, donated a much-needed bass drum to the Band. On behalf of the FOTB and the PUB, please accept our gratitude for your loyalty! Thanks to this support, the Band has been able to do many amazing things. In addition to the normal slate of winter and spring sports, the Band has also been developing relationships with non-traditional sports, increasing its plaid sphere of influence. Notably, the Band traveled to State College, Pennsylvania, to cheer on the men's volleyball team in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association tournament. In recognition for its efforts, the Princeton Band was given awards for “Best pep Band performance for a road match” and “Best dressed pep Band” by the Off The Block college volleyball blog. “EIVA Most exciting player to watch” Cody Kessel tweeted, “Princeton Band RULES!!!” That the PUB is deserving of these accolades is a no-brainer to us, but it's great to see others recognize the Band's awesomeness as well! This fall offers another action-packed season of PUB shows interrupted by football games. It's important to realize that the University only provides limited financial support for the Band, and the costs of a normal football season outstrip the support provided by the University. This year also features an exciting trip as the Band will travel to the nation's Capital as the football team seeks to avenge last year's heartbreaking, last-second 21-20 loss to Georgetown. Another incredibly exciting opportunity is in front of the PUB in the form of a trip to the University of San Diego next fall, 10 years after making that trip there the first time. As a freshman member of the PUB's West Coast delegation, I feel comfortable calling the trip an unbridled success. It was also an incredible recruiting opportunity. Our attraction was wide, but it was also deep -- the PUB members who joined the year of the San Diego trip generally stuck around and became dedicated, valuable Band members. One of my main goals as president is to send the Band back to San Diego next year. We will try to find all sources of funding we can, but this won't even be feasible without dedicated Friends like you giving even more generously to the Band. I'm confident that with your amazing and loyal support, this dream will become a reality! Joel Thompson '08 THE NEWSLETTER FOR PRINCETON UNIVERSITY BAND ALUMNI AND FRIENDS. Dear Friends of Tiger Band,

It is a privilege and an honor to be writing this letter to you as the President of FOTB.

In addition to the normal slate of winter and spring sports, the Band has also been developing relationships with non-traditional

sports, increasing its plaid sphere of influence.

Joel Thompson '08
