Learning Objectives: By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: 1. Read and underline 5 conjunctions in the given text 2. Construct 8 compound sentences using and, or, and but based on the given simple sentences 3. Complete the fill-in-gap tasks Activity 1: Coral Reading Teacher recaps the story to the pupils. Teacher discusses the story line with the pupils. Teacher tells that in the story, there are several conjunctions that can be found. Activity 2: Independent reading group work. Pupils silently read the text and locate at least 5 conjunctions in the text. Pupils underline the conjunctions. Pupils report to the teacher where the conjunctions are located. Teacher discusses how the conjunctions are used. Teacher writes the phrases on the white board and explains how the ideas are connected using the conjunctions.

4.4.2 Construct simple sentences and compound sentences based on a given stimulus.

Learning Objectives:By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:

1. Talk about the 5 pictures given to their group2. Write the answers for 5 questions in complete sentences3. Answer the questions in MyCD Activity 2.

Activity 1: DiscussionIn group, pupils talk about the pictures that are given in the envelopes. Each pupil gets a picture to talk to their friend. Teacher asks these questions: Have you seen any of these activities?Where have you seen it? Was it real or just a picture? What are the people in the pictures doing? Teacher shows each picture on the PowerPoint presentation and discuss with the pupils as a whole class.

Activity 2: Answering question

Pupils take out their textbook and turn to page 107. Pupils read all the question in the speech bubbles and think of any suitable answers. Teacher uses question one as an example of how to use complete sentences. In the same group, pupils discuss and orally answer all the questions. Pupils write the answer to the Activity 2 (b) in the textbook page 107 individually. Teacher uses Interactive Activity 2 in MyCD Year 5.

Learning Objectives:By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:

a) Choose an event that they want to attend.b) Transfer and write about the information from the brochure in a short paragraph

using simple and compound sentences.

Activity 1: Reading a brochure

Teacher distributes 3 brochures of traditional events. Pupils read the brochure and understand the information in the brochure. Teacher asks pupils which activity is the most interesting. Teacher writes example of a paragraph using pupils’ idea. Teacher writes pupils idea on the white board.

Activity 2: Independent writingPupils write independently. They choose one event that they like the most and then write about it. Teacher walks around the classroom and provide assist to those who are needed..Resources: Traditional Events brochure, video of a lion dance performance.

4.1 (b) Write at word, phrase, sentence and paragraph level in clear, legible print and cursive writing.

Learning Objectives:By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:

1. Predict and write the outcomes of the story in their group.2. Answer five comprehension questions.3. Choose a character that they like the most from the story and give their reason for

choosing that character.

Activity 1: vocabulary drillPupils spell and pronounce the targeted words. Teacher shows pictures to describe the words in order to help them to understand the words.

Activity 2: Independent readingPupils read the first part of the story. Then in groups, they predict what each character will say in the end of the story. After that, they read the second part of the story and compare if their prediction is the same with the ending of the story.

Activity 3: Teacher-in-role In groups, pupils will discuss and predict the ending of the story. Teacher acts as the Snake and asks pupils about their predictions.
