Vaccination against Hepatitis A is recommended for all travellers to Serbia. Vaccination against Hepatitis B, Typhoid and Rabies should also be considered. All travellers should be up-to-date with their routine "background" vaccinations. These include vaccinations for Tetanus and Diphtheria (with a booster within the last 10 years), Whooping Cough (which is often combined with the Tetanus and Diphtheria vaccination), Polio (with a booster in adult life), Measles, Mumps and Rubella (two combination vaccinations through life), Chicken Pox and a recent annual Influenza vaccination. Tick-borne encephalitis is present throughout many areas in Europe (predominately in forested regions). Whilst no vaccine is available in Australia, travellers visiting risk areas and planning outdoor activities between May and October might consider vaccination once in Europe. Please consult a medical practitioner or contact The Travel Doctor for your specific risk to these preventable diseases and the appropriate avoidance measures. Australians travelling to Serbia should also ensure that they have adequate travel insurance to cover the length of their stay. Passports are recommended to have at least two facing blank pages and at least six months validity beyond the intended stay in Serbia. Travellers may also be requested to show evidence of sufficient financial resources and travel insurance for their proposed period of stay and return/onward travel arrangements. Those not staying in paid accommodation should register their presence in Serbia at the nearest police station within 24 hours of arrival. Additional conditions apply to minors and those travelling to Kosovo. Travellers are recommended to contact a Serbian mission on the details below for further information and to ensure their specific circumstances make them eligible to enter Serbia without a visa. Notes and Coins The currency of Serbia is the Dinar (plural Dinara), which is abbreviated using the symbol RSD or din (for example 100 RSD, 100 din).The subunit of the dinar is the para, of which there are 100 in every dinar, although these are rare. The following units of currencyare the most common however other units are also in circulation. Pictures are not to scale.
