I would like to be able to say "Happy New Year" to all members, but I am concerned that with the floods

throughout our 'Sun Burnt Country' there may be some of you who are worried about family and/or friends

and it may appear to be a bit light hearted. I do believe though that the vaste majority of people, and I will

include you, our members, are feeling very much for all those stricken by this natural disaster. As your

Chaplain, I can assure you of my prayers for all concerned.

I would like to convey my thanks to all who helped with the children's Christmas Carnival last December. I

am in receipt of a card of thanks received from one particular family who expressed their appreciation and

approval of the day's events. It is good to receive fed back from members at any time. It is also good to

receive ideas as well as hear of your concerns.

Our first Welfare meeting for 2011 will be on the 7th February and we look forward to another year serving

you, the members of Phillip Island RSL.

Elwyn Sparks (Rev) Chaplain / Chair Welfare Committee

'It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the area you just bombed.' 'Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword, obviously never encountered automatic weapons.' 'You, you, and you ... Panic. The rest of you, come with me.' - Infantry Sgt.- 'Tracers work both ways.' 'Five second fuses last about three seconds.' The three most useless things in aviation are: Fuel in the bowser; Runway behind you; and Air above you. 'Any ship can be a mine-sweeper. Once.' 'If you see a bomb technician running, try to keep up to him.' 'You've never been lost until you've been lost at Mach 3.'
