How does Infrared Heat work?Infrared (radiant) heating, as opposed to warm air systems(such as forced air unit heaters), delivers the source ofheat to the floor level, not the ceiling. Infrared energy is theoldest form of heating used to provide comfort and is thebasis for all heating systems. Infrared energy is totallypure radiation and is absorbed by an object withoutphysical contact with the heat source or by heating thesurrounding air, as is the case with convective, forced airsystems.Infrared heating is the most efficient and effective methodin which to deliver "heat" under the diverse conditionspresent in warehouses, garages, storerooms as well as thelargest facilities imaginable.Hot gases are moved through the radiant tube, either byvacuum (negative) or power (positive) pressure. Theradiant energy produced is then directed downward by thereflectors positioned above the radiant tubes.The floor is typically the largest mass within any building.Thus the floor becomes the primary source of heat.
