SOKO INŽINJERING company was founded in 1992. The core activity of the company is manufacturing, design, installation and servicing of equipment and systems in the field of HVAC and complete construction of mechanical, electrical and water supply systems. Since 2006, manufacturing takes place in a factory of 4000 m² in Krnjesevci near Belgrade (25 km). We have been manufacturing air handling units since 1996.

Modular air-handling units are designed for central air preparation in air conditioning and ventilation systems in office premises, industrial buildings, warehouses, supermarkets, shopping centers, retail spaces,restaurants, hotels, residential buildings, hospitals, clinical centers etc.Air handling units provide the required purity,temperature and humidity of air through basic functions: filtration, ventilation, heating, cooling, humidification, dehumidification, heat recovery and regeneration,...

48 sizes are available - with cross sections of air handling units for air flow rates from 1,000 m /h to100,000 m /h. Such a large number of sizes and modular systemallow for selection of air handling units for the needs of any building in terms of functionality and dimensions. They are characterized by excellent strength, thermal and sound insulation, minimal air leakage[D1 (M); L1 (M) and L2 (M); F9 (M); T2 and T3; TB2 and TB3] according to EN 1886 standard.

Types of air handling units (according to purpose)

Intended for air conditioning and ventilation ofcommercial premises, industrial buildings, warehouses, supermarkets, retail spaces, hotels, restaurants, residential buildings, workshops, etc. Level of air filtration meets the requirements from G3to a maximum of F7. The interior of air handling unit is made of galvanized sheet metal DX51+ Zn275

STANDARD UNITS

HYGIENIC UNITS

SWIMMING POOL UNITS

Intended for air-conditioning of hospitals, clinical centers, laboratories, in pharmaceutical industry,food industry and the like. Inner surfaces of air handling units are completely smooth, with access provided to every detail for the purpose of cleaning. Interior of air handling units is made of plasticized galvanized sheet metal and (or) stainless steel. Level of air filtration is up to F9 as a standard, and atthe request absolute filters E10 to H14, UV lampsand bipolar ionizers also are installed. The design is in accordance with the standard DIN 1946.

Intended to maintain a climate in indoor swimming pools in accordance with VDI 2089. Swimming pool air handling units are supplied complete, with associated equipment to manage and control the operation. The interior of the air handling unit and all internal parts are protected with epoxy.

Results of the check according to EN 1886 arean indication of extraordinary strength, excellent sealing, excellent thermal and sound insulationand maximum air stream through the filters Outstanding corrosion protection: • Galvanized metal sheets are DX51+275Zn (thickness Zn19μm) • Painted metal sheets are DX51+275Zn + painted + protective film

FRAMES of casing are made of extruded aluminum profiles with associated angles. Four sizes are used, depending onthe size of air handling unit (30, 40, 50, 60 mm).The profiles are with or without thermal bridge.

BASES are made of galvanized, curved profilesand adjustable feet of adequate carrying capacity.Base height allows for installation of a siphon todrain water for all values of underpressure and overpressure in the unit.

CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN

PANELS of air handling units are sandwich panels(on both sides, sheet metal with a filler of insulating material).Metal sheets of the panels are typically galvanized as a standard (painted or unpainted) thickness of 0.6 mm. In the hygienic design, they are typically galvanized and painted and (or) made of stainless steel.Insulating materials are: Polyurethane, density of 44 kg/mᵌ, flammability classB2 according to DIN 4102;Rock mineral wool, density of 90 kg/mᵌ with transverselyoriented fibers between the metal sheets.

Thicknesses of panels are:for the profile 40 - 42 mm vertical, 60 mm horizontal, average 50 mm for the profile 50 - 42 mm vertical, 70 mm horizontal, average 55 mm for the profile 60 - 63 mm vertical, 80 mm horizontal,average 70 mm for the profile 30 - all panels are 25 mm

Connection between the outer and inner sheet metal panels is a PVC profile, which is the carrier of rubber strips and performs the interruption of thermal bridge.

LOCKS, HINGES AND HANDLES are placed on the service side. They provide excellent tightening of rubber sealing strips (profiles). They enable easy and quick access to all the elements of air handling unit.

SIGHT GLASSES are placed on the service panels of filter, fan and humidifier sections.

SERVICE - SAFETY SWITCHES AND LIGHTING SWITCHES are mounted on the front fixed panel of the fan and humidifier section.

LIGHTING is installed in the interior of the fan,humidifier and optionally filter section.

CONNECTION SYSTEM Special connecting elements and adjustable feet allow for quick and easy connection of the sections.

The program enables easy and quick way to choose an appropriate size, type and composition of air handling unit. Fan section

Fans installed in air handling units are centrifugal/radial fans, and by type:Fans with belt driveFans with direct driveFree-rotating fans without a spiral housing – Plug In fans

Main criterion for selecting the type and size of a fanis the maximum level of efficiency, which means the minimum required power of electric motor,the lowest noise level for the required amount of airand necessary pressure.

All the fans are selected using the manufacturer's certified program, which is an integral part of the AirCalc++ software.

RADIAL FANS WITH SPIRAL HOUSING AND BELT DRIVEBlades curved forward are used for lower pressures Blades curved backward are used for medium and high pressures. The fan and electric motor with pulleys and drive belts are placed on a common stand that is connected to the housing through rubber shock absorbers and flexible connections at the fan outlet. Electric motors are three-phase, asynchronous motors, type B3, protection IP55, class IE2 and IE3 according to the standard DIN EN 50347.For transmission of power, pulleys with V-belts are used (SPZ, SPA, SPB, SPC).

FREE-ROTATING FANS (Plug-in) Radial fans without spiral housing are installed with backward curved blades and direct drive, balanced according to ISO1940, with the quality grade G2.5/G6.3, and with electric motor complying with the requirements of EU/CE-MEP (ErP regul.), optimized by power, protection IP55, class IE2 and IE3. The motors are adapted for variable speed drive.

EC-FREE-ROTATING FANS (Plug-In)Unlike the previous fans, these fans have electric motor class IE4 and integrated control electronic circuitry with the possibility to control the number of revolutions by voltage using a potentiometer (10kQ) or low voltage signal (0 -10 Vdc).

Filter section

Filters installed in air handling units in order toensure adequate purity of air, and they can bearranged in one or more stages of filtration. According to the type, filters can be: panel, bag,compact, absolute filters and active carbon filters.According to the class, filters of the class fromG2 to F9 are typically installed in compliance withthe standard EN 779; on special request, absolutefilters E10 to H14, active carbon filters, metal grease extraction filters and other filters can also be mounted. All sizes of air handling units use a combination of standard dimension filters. Filter materials can be: glass fibers, syntheticfibers and cloth.

FILTER HOLDERS with rubber gaskets (built intothe filter unit housing) ensure high class sealingof the filter F9 (M).

Heating section

HEATING WITH WARM (OR HOT) WATER Heat exchangers, water (or a glycol mixture) – air,are of counter-flow type and made of copper tubes ø12mm (29x33) or ø16 mm (30x60) with aluminum fins with a spacing of 2 to 4 mm. Number of rows is 2 or greater.All parameters are calculated using a certifiedmanufacturer's program.Collecting pipes are made of steel or copper with connections up to the thread diameter of DN50 and DN50 through a flange joint. Heat exchanger frame is galvanized - as a standard,but it can be painted or made of some other material. Heaters are equipped with connections for air venting and water discharge. The tightness is checked with nitrogen under pressure of 2.5 Mpa. Maximum water temperature is 130 C. With warm-water heater, a frame - thermostat holder is delivered forfrost protection.

ELECTRIC HEATERS Electric heaters are ribbed tubular heaters placed in a special housing made of sheet metal, together with all the necessary

elements for connection, power supply and protection.Terminal box is constructed and mounted on the outside

panel of air handling unit. They are connected to the voltage of 3x380 V/50 Hz.

Electrical wiring and connecting can be carried out for a steppedor silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) i.e. thyristor power control.

STEAM HEATERS They use saturated steam as a medium, with absolute pressure up to 1.7 Mpa and temperatures up to 200 C. Heat exchangers are usually finned, most frequently made of galvanized steel tubes (but they can also be made of copper tubes) and aluminum fins (plates).

GAS HEATERS Heat exchangers with tubular burners and with automatic ignition

system are placed in air handling units as packaged units. These packaged units contain all the necessary operating and safety

components and fittings, which include: control gas valves, flame detector, fan that provides air for combustion and flue gas exhaust,

control panel for operating the heater. They have high energy efficiency.

All gas regulations and standards are complied with.

Cooling section

COOLING COIL WITH COLD WATER Heat exchangers, water (or a glycol mixture) – air, they are ofcounter-flow type and made of copper tubes ø12mm (29x33) orø16 mm (30x60) and aluminum fins (plates) with a spacing of 2.2to 4mm. Number of rows is 2 or greater.All parameters are calculated using a certified manufacturer's program.Collecting pipes are made of steel or copper with connections up tothe thread diameter of DN50 and DN50 through a flange joint. Cooler with droplet eliminator

This unit is equipped with a drip-tray (with insulation on the bottom side) for condensate drain, made of stainless steel, and witha connection to siphon at the lowest point. For air velocities through the cooler, which are higher than2.2 m/s, a droplet eliminator is fitted behind the cooler.

DX COOLING COIL - EVAPORATOR Evaporator is made of copper tubes ø12 mm (29x33) andaluminum fins (plates) with a spacing of 2.2 to 4mm.Number of rows is 2 or greater.All parameters are calculated using a certifiedmanufacturer's program.Collecting pipes are made of copper with soldered joints.Heat exchanger frame is typically galvanized (painted forhygienic design).The tightness is checked with nitrogen under pressureof 2.5 Mpa.As a refrigerant, freon R407C, R410A, R134A, or R404A is used. Electronic or mechanical thermostatic expansion valves aremounted on evaporators.

Heat recovery section

Heat recovery section are used to save energy by extracting heat from exhaust air and delivering it to fresh air. The degree of heat recovery depends on the kind, type and size of these heat exchangers. Selection is made by certified manufacturer's programs, which are integrated in AirCalc++ software. This unit consists of a heat exchanger, fresh air filter, droplet eliminator (as required and for velocities higher than 2m/s), connection for condensate drain and "bypass" blinds (if necessary). Types of the used heat recovery systems are: plate heat exchangers, rotary heat exchangers and Coil Loop System using circulation of water and glycol mixture (run-around coils).

PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERPlate heat exchanger structure is made of specially designed fins (plates) which can be made of aluminum, painted aluminum orstainless steel, without mixing of airflows, without exchange of moisture and with or without bypass "blinds" used for frost protection. ROTARY HEAT EXCHANGER – Heat WheelRotaru heat exchanger structure consists of a rotating wheel(accumulation mass), electric motor with power transmission elements, and the controller of rotation speed of heat recovery wheel. They can be of two types: Condensing heat wheel with accumulation mass made of corrugated aluminum strips, and they exchange only sensible heat. Enthalpy heat wheel with a hygroscopic accumulation mass allow forthe exchange of sensible and latent heat.Efficiency depends on the speed of rotation of heat recovery wheeland reaches up to 85 %. They are suitable for large amounts of air.

Coil Loop SystemSystem with water-glycol mixturecirculation in a closed loop consists of two finned exchangers, pumps, three-way valves and other associated fittings.These are counter-flow exchangers, made from copper tubes ribbed with aluminum plates - fins with a spacing of 2.2 to 4 mm, usually from 4 to 12 rows of tubes. One heat exchanger is in the exhaust airflow and the other exchanger is in the fresh airflow. The advantage of these recuperators is that they provide completely separated flows of fresh and exhaust air, which is a basic requirement for air handling units in hygienic design.The efficiency reaches up to 55 %.

Humidification section

Humidification section is part of the air handling unit where air humidification is carried out in one of the following ways:Using steam humidifiers with autonomous steam generator or with central steam preparationAdiabatic direct contact humidification(honeycomb humidifiers)Adiabatic high - pressure humidification Selection is made by certified manufacturer's programs, which are integrated in AirCalc++ software.

STEAM HUMIDIFIERSAir is humidified by direct mixing of air flow and steam. In the autonomous humidification, a steam generator is placed on the air handling unit or nextto it, steam distributor is in the air flow, whereasthese are connected by the steam supply hose.In the central steam preparation, for steam injection into the air handling unit, steam distributor with a valve and electric motor drive and with a separator is used. Steam distributors are made of stainless steel.This section is of sufficient length so that the steam is absorbed, whereas collected water droplets are drained through the drip-tray and the siphon.

ADIABATIC CONTACT HUMIDIFICATION(honeycomb humidifiers) Air humidification is achieved by the contact of air witha large wet surface, where the water evaporates.Humidifier consists of a honeycomb, system of water distribution through the honeycomb, collecting tank, pump, float valve, drain valve and droplet eliminator. It is necessary to provide connection to the system with prepared (softened) water.

HIGH-PRESSURE ADIABATIC HUMIDIFICATION High pressure water is sprayed through nozzles into the air flow. This humidification system consists of a pump station with operation controller, an assembly of nozzles and droplet eliminators. Pump station provides water pressure of 4-15 bar or 25-75 bar, depending on the type of humidifier. By means of hoses, the station is connected with an assembly of nozzles in the air handling unit. This unit section is of sufficient length to allow the air to receive dispersed droplets of water, and it is completely water-tight, with drip-tray and siphon. It is necessary to provide a connection to the system of prepared (softened) water.

SIPHONSSiphons are installed in all sections where the processes of cooling, humidification and heat recovery take place, serving for smooth drainage of water generated in these processes.The siphon height depends on the value of overpressure or underpressure in the section from which wateris discharged and it is determined by thefollowing expressions:

For overpressure zones H1 = 35 mmHs = p + 35 mm

For underpressure zones H1 = p + 35 mmHs = p x 0.6 mm

Where: p = pressure at the place of installation (mmVS) 1 mmVS = 10 Pa

Sound attenuation sectionSound attenuator splitters (silencer splitters) are made of rock wool (which is an effective sound absorber)incorporated in the frame of galvanized sheet metal and are individually mounted in the sound attenuator section. Outer surface of rock wool panels is resistant to tearing-off the pieces. On the front side of the splitters, air deflectors are mounted providing better air flow. They are made in three thicknesses: 100mm, 200mm and less frequently 300mm, for all sizes of air handling units. Lengths of splitters (depending on the desired degree of attenuation) can be 450mm to 1800mm, with a spacing of 150mm. Air speeds between the splitters are up to 15 m/s.

Dampers are available with high-class sealing(class 2 according to the standard EN1751).

Flexible connections

Flexible connections prevent transmission of vibration from the air handling unit tothe duct distribution system. They are placed on all connections for air. It consists of a plastic-coated cloth with frames of galvanized MEZ-profile 20mm or 30mm (with seal and corresponding angles), length of 80mm or 30mm (when installed).

The blades are made of aluminum, with aerodynamic shape, mounted in aluminum frame with a flange. Blades are rotated slowly, with a system of gears made of injected/molded plastic, through brass squares. Excellent sealing with rubber profiles fitted on each blade and frame. For low temperature areas, gears are made of special plastic and damper heaters are also installed. Easy installation of damper actuator, as well as coupled drive in the mixing box.

Compact air handling units are factory packaged devices, which in addition to basic functional componentshave an integrated cooling system. These devices are equipped with all the necessary elements for self-control and monitoring of operation. All the elements are factory connected and tested, which simplifies field work andsignificantly reduces the installation time. These are highly energy-efficient systems. They are available in alltypes and designs, the same as standard modular air handling units. They can have integrated gas heaters.We divide them into two basic types:

Compact air handling units with direct expansion (dx-cooler) with complete packaged cooling loop (compressor, evaporator and condenser). In one variant, besides dx-cooling, for the air preparation process condensation heat (heat pump) is also used and this group includes pool air handling units. In the other variant, the heat from condensation is dissipated outside. In this type, the alternative with turning the freon loop (heat pump) is also used. With regard to freon, R407C, R410A, R134A and R404A are used.Compact air handling units with integrated chiller forcold water preparation for the cooler in the air handling unit.

All these systems, with the use of heat recovery and with an intelligent controller, ensure very high efficiency.

The essence of a quality air-conditioning system is that with appropriate air flow and quality (the required purity, temperature, humidity...), desired parameters of comfort are achieved in the air-conditioned space.This is achieved by combining basic processes of air treatment and well-designed automation system.

Air conditioning is now more demanding so that control of the operation of air handling units becomesincreasingly complex.We offer air handling units with full automation for system management and control according to the appropriate application diagram, with possibility of connecting to the central monitoring and control system. The management and control system consists of a digital, freely programmable controller, local automation and electric cabinet which houses the controller and other electrical equipment.

CONTROLLERS with their application program provide reliable system operation, minimal energy consumption, compliance with design parameters in the system and can be connected to the central monitoring and control system. We have chosen:

CENTRAL CONTROL AND MONITORING SYSTEM (CCMS - BMS) is a computer integrated system whose basic functions are control, management, monitoring and optimization of all systems in one building.Controllers that control air handling units (which are an integral part of the air conditioning system), can beeasily integrated into BMS system using open standard protocols (BACnet, LonWorks and ModBus).
