Recently  a  reader  asked  whatever  happened  to  ‘that  mural’  that  was  in  the  WSFS  lobby  on  Market  Street.Well,  ‘that  mural’  is  N.C.  Wyeth’s  Apotheosis  of  the  Family.  The  19-‐by-‐60  foot  stately  work  of  art  had  adorned  the  two-‐story  lobby  since  1932.  In  1929,  former  WSFS  Bank  President,  Frederick  E.    Stone,  commissioned  Delaware  Valley  painter  and  illustrator,  N.C.  Wyeth  to    create  a  mural  for  the  south  wall  lobby.  The  completed  masterpiece,  was  unveiled  in  1932.

The  mural  presently  is  with  Ely  Company,  which  is  providing  museum  quality,  climate-‐controlled  storage  for  the  artwork.    The  Delaware  Historical  Society  is  working  on  plans  to  conserve  and  possibly  exhibit  the  mural  at  a  yet-‐to-‐be-‐determined  date.  DHS’s  Scott  Loehr  tells  Cobblestones  that  after  a  future  capital  campaign  the  mural  may  be  ready  for  public  display.  A  three-‐to-‐fiver-‐year  time  frame  is  somewhat  realistic.  In  the  scheme  of  fine  art  for  future  generations  it’s  a  short  wait.  –  Teditor

Transporting 3 flight attendants from New Castle Airport to PHL last week.

FA - I hear Delaware has no sales tax.ME - Yes, that's right. FA - Even on beer? ME - Yes, even on beer.FA - Good, can we get some?A little later going up I-495 near near Edgemoor:FA - Is that the Atlantic Ocean?ME- Yes ma'am...and that land over there is West Africa…but here we call it Jersey.FA - Oh...that's cool.ME - ***(Did you really need a beer)***

Waiting in Trenton for pilots to call for pickup. They are late. Finally pilot calls:

ME- Hey, you finally made it. Are you still in the plane... should I pull around?PILOT- We're still in the plane, but don't pull around. ME-: ?PILOT- Well, we went by twice but didn't see the airport, so we landed in Philly.Dropped pilot off at hotel. 10 minutes later I hear Gilligan's Island theme coming from back seat. Pilot forgot his phone. Really? Gilligan's Island is your ringtone?

Anyone for a 3 hour tour?

CobbleJohn’sLimo business has some humorous benefits that he will share with us from time

to time. So here are actual conversations, questions or

statements from the back seat while transporting pilots and flight attendants...keep in mind they are usually in our area for the first time...some things, you just don't want the passengers to hear.

Let’s look back at last week’s DeNorml “Marijuana March” supporting the passage of HB

39. It was a cold and windy afternoon when this small cluster of supporters organized on

the Green and marched through our City streets. The event surprised some of our citizenry

that didn’t know of advanced publicity. Comments from social media and around town included:

This should go in the Guinness Book of World records as the shortest March … thought it was the tail end of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade just waking up ... they were all chanting different stuff, like “End the weed prohibition, Vote for house bill 39 and I want Taco Bell”…They could've all fit in a Fiat 500 and hit the drive through backwards...They could went to taco bell and use soft taco shells to make Cheech n Chong joints. Rumor has it that the town squirrel population cleaned up the trail of Doritos.
