offers “Adventures in
Learning” – classes that are
taught on various subjects
by knowledgeable volunteer
instructors. There are four
eight-week sessions per
year. See registration form
on pg. 5 for fees. Lunch is
also available, along with an
entertaining luncheon
program.

Wednesday, October 10th - 10:00 – Noon Community Hospice and Palliative Care is offering the first of what
will be quarterly presentations at their Neviaser Educational
Institute, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Bldg. 100, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
SUPPLEMENTAL ADVENTURES IN LEARNING (SAIL) The topic
will be “Too Much Drama – Family Dynamics” led by Doug Shelling.
SCOOP is very excited about this new opportunity to have
additional education opportunities. Future quarterly dates are as
follows: April 3, 2019, June 26, 2019 and October 16, 2019.
Thursday, October 25, 10am – 3pm Clay County Senior Advocacy Council will be having their annual
BBQ fundraiser at Orange Park Town Hall. We will purchase to go
lunches to have at our Fleming Island location for lunch. Let the
office know if you would like lunch!
Thursday, November 29, 2 – 5:30 MEGA CHRISTMAS BINGO AT CONSULATE Join us at Consulate, 1215 Kingsley Ave, Orange Park, for a fun
afternoon of bingo, prizes, tours and good food.
Wednesday, December 5, 2 – 5:30
SCOOP – Heartland Annual Holiday Party Lunch will be provided, and we’ll have some fun crafts to make!

SCOOP website, www.tscoop.org. ATTENTION: CLASS REGISTRATION INFORMATION Due to the popular response to some of our limited enrollment classes we will be having a lottery for class space. Anyone interested in such a class (marked by “pre-registration required” on the registration form) should sign up prior to October 9, 2018. Payment is not due with pre-registration. On October 10, 2018, names will be drawn for the available slots for the class, and members will be notified either way if they have a seat in the class. Any member who does not have a seat during this session will be given first right of refusal for a seat for the next session. Any remaining seats for that session will be handled via lottery.

realistic scenes of rural & city life as the US expands.
Beginning Tai Chi – Carol Newbern and Rob Springer – Standing or sitting, it is beneficial either way.
The four components include mindful movement, breathing practice, self-applied massage and meditation.

I-Pad Instruction – Mike Saffy, SilverLink Consulting, will show you the ins and outs of using your iPad.
Keyboard – Janie Koch - Orange Park School of Music. Please let us know if you will be bringing your
own keyboard or need to rent a keyboard for the class.
Pennies from Heaven (a Canasta-like game) – Play a form of rummy using three full decks - in which
players or partnerships try to meld groups of 3 or more cards.
Protect Your Nest Egg – Dave Fieber, Edward Jones – Learn how to invest appropriately so you can
make the most of your retirement.
Smart Phone Instruction – Becky Foster, The Allegro, and Chris Thompson, ComForCare – Learn tips
and tricks in using your iPhone or Android smartphone. One topic covered each week with handouts!
Zumba for Seniors– Jamie Bailey, Consulate HealthCare - Have fun dancing and exercising to great
