Known for their philanthropy, business leadership, and commitment to community, James and Ruth developed organizations and programs that greatly preserved and improved quality of life in our county. Alan Seidman personifies all that the Ottaway Medal represents. He is a life-long resident of Cornwall, an exceptional businessman, and a truly engaged community member. Currently Executive Director of the Construction Contractors Association, Alan served as Chair of the Orange County Legislature for several years, helping to establish a countywide 911 facility and response system to increase safety for all our residents, and facilitating plans for expanding SUNY Orange in Newburgh. Serving on the boards of vital, local organizations like Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, the Orange County Partnership, Kol Yisrael, Temple Beth Jacob, and the Highland Engine Company, he has made a long-lasting impact on the greater Orange County community. He is committed to supporting our military members through his service on the board of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Inc. and organizing a military appreciation event every three years, where thousands of men and women in the military are recognized for their service. Currently, Alan is overseeing the design and construction of a $10 million dollar expansion of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor.
