Question #1: What is the Purpose and Goal(s) of this project? Describe (with examples) what is innovative about your project.

The purpose of the Autism Spectrum Disorder On-The-Job Training Program, or ASD Level 1 OJT, is to enable high school seniors with ASD Level 1, formerly known as Asperger's Syndrome, to further develop knowledge and skills to select career options, access community resources, and apply work-related behaviors through guided practice and experiences in school and community work settings. This is a nonpaid community based vocational education training program for students with ASD Level 1.

Transportation is critical for our students because if you cannot GET to a job, then you cannot be employed. Many of our students will never get their driver's license due to executive functioning challenges and anxiety. Travel training promotes the skills necessary for our students with Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 1 to become independent. It gives them the ability to become a valuable employee. Students perform work assignments in various businesses (employment settings) under the direct supervision of school personnel and employees of the business.

Question #1: What is the Purpose and Goal(s) of this project? Describe (with examples) what is innovative about your project.

The purpose of this project is for students to use specific software to apply their content knowledge in a real-world, practical manner. I teach two different subjects, Career and Technical Education Finance and a class I created called the Innovation class.

There is no textbook or standard curriculum online for either of these classes. I researched online software that would allow my students in my two content areas to apply what they have learned in a practical manner. I want them to get as much real-world exposure as possible.
