Everything is Bigger in Texas! • Owns and operates 4 major reservoirs:
– Lake Bridgeport
– Eagle Mountain Lake
– Cedar Creek
– Richland-Chambers Reservoirs
• Constructed more than:
– 150 miles of water pipelines
– 27 miles of floodway levees
– More than 40 miles of Trinity River Trails
– 260 acre wetland water reuse project designed
to increase future water supplies for the area
• Provides water to more than 1.7 million people in
the North Central Texas area
Managing Flood Control System • >27 miles of floodway levees designed by the U. S. Army Corps
of Engineers
• Provides vital flood protection to area residents along the West and Clear Forks of the Trinity River.
• Minimizes the impact of heavy rainfall on the Trinity River and surrounding areas.
• Works closely with other organizations, such as the National Weather Service, to gather data and provide information to the public during emergency situations
TRWD manages the lakes and floodway levees that provide excellent recreational opportunities for residents and visitors to the area, offering a safe and scenic venue to walk, run, cycle and ride horses
Stepping up to Maximo 7.5
Remove customizations in Maximo 6.2.2; used scripting tool in Maximo 7.5 to streamline operations
Adhere to password policy change by integrating Active Directory with Maximo 7.5
Ability to move Maximo to VM environment to increase flexibility and support
Improvements in admin tool increased productivity
Access depreciation module available in Maximo for Transportation 7.5
Nearing end of life for Maximo 6.2.2; decided to leapfrog to Maximo 7.5 to get ahead of support and
maintenance issues
Customizations
It takes a Village (or at Least a Partnership)
• Strong Technical Team
In House
• Special needs
• Functional
• Reporting
• Removing Customizations
Interloc • Supportive and Responsive
IBM
Weekly Upgrade Tests
Run the upgrade scripts starting with a copy of our production database Upgrade to 7.1.1.10
Run the fix to 7.5.0.2
Install Transportation and fixes
Run through post upgrade tasks, scripts and cleanup
Test
Targeting Success
• Complete upgrade in 10 hour window on Friday night taking a snapshot of the environment
• Test over the weekend
• If everything is go, restore the snapshot
Upgrade will not happen until all parties have agreed that they are comfortable
with the after upgrade environment
Hitting our Milestones
All environments are installed and
integrated with Active Directory
Performed two upgrade tests so far
with most issues resolved
Working in the training environment with upgraded data -- response mostly
positive.
Expectations of the Upgrade
• An increase in confidence that we can accomplish upgrade
• Meet expectations of the users without significant overhead in training or loss of work hours
• A stable VM platform that will:
– Make future upgrades easier
– Allow us to continue to meet the needs of our users, our district and our ever expanding constituency
• The ability to do more with less – Let Maximo do more of the heavy lifting
TRWD is in a growth spurt at this time with our Trinity River Vision project, several new pipelines and, expanded infrastructure and new facilities.

Maximo 7.5 Upgrade
– Tackle inefficiencies within the current procure-to-pay process by:
• Using key new function in 7.5
• Addressing gaps in current business processes
– Implement Incident and Investigation functions
Current Challenges
Complex and inefficient workflow causing, • No use of PR module • Too many POs and Invoices • Inability to create PO revisions • Delays in procure to pay
process
No true 3 way matching
Inability to void receipts result in outstanding RBNI
Low visibility of inventory transfers between sites
No easy way to void invoices in Maximo
Double data entry – entering receipts then entering invoices
Did not implement ERS (Evaluated Receipt Settlement
Lack of labor contracts, blanket and price agreements
Addressing the Challenges
Purchasing • Simplify PR / PO
workflow • Allow creating a
single PO from multiple requisitions
• Create PO revisions by via PO revisions function introduced in 7.5
Accounting • Set receipt
tolerances to force 3 way matching
• Ability to void receipts helps to keep RBNI cleaned
• Ability to void invoices in Maximo keeps the system in sync with the financial system
–
Simplify item transfer • Implement a
process around transferring items from one site to another
• Staging concept introduced in 7.5 would help keep control and visibility on items being transferred
Manual invoice creation/double data entry • Create more
labor contracts that will allow generating invoices automatically
• Use pay-on-receipt feature to auto generate invoices related to services
• Implement ERS (Evaluated Receipt Settlement)
2013 Roadmap: Working Together

and more using
