to incorporate the desired quality into

the productsthat are produced basedon those documents & requirements.

Specification Specification are prepared that provide the control over

the acquisition of materials, their performancecharacteristics and the production requirementsto make the finished products.

SPECIFICATION A precise statementof a set of requirements to be

satisfied by a material, product, system, or servicethat indicates the procedures for determiningwhether each of the requirements is satisfied.

Requirement must be met for specification to besatisfied.

Specification include more specific informationdescribing exact characteristics & performance levelsthat must be met.

Tolerancesdescribe the acceptablerange of variation from specification.

A Minimumsis the least or lowestacceptable value for any givenparameters or dimension.

Reasons Size compartmentalization.- Range of tolerance of component critical

to target market.

- Product aspect may adversely affect product

performance if it is not been followed strictly.

Open specification - Details for theconsideration of multiple vendors, including a
