LOVE IS PATIENT AND LOVE IS KIND

1 CORINTHIANS 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not

boast, it is not proud.

GALATIANS 5:22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,

forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

1 THESSALONIANS 5:14And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who

are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

Patience reveals our faith in God’s timing, omnipotence, and love.

Patience in other words is a BY-PRODUCT of our understanding of the GRACE of God given and

shown to us and our maturity in Christ.

HEBREWS 12:1“Therefore since we also are surrounded with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with

patience the race that is set before us”

PATIENCE DOES NOT DEVELOP WITHOUT PROVOCATION AND CIRCUMSTANCES THAT WILL

TEST US.

JAMES 1:2-42 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith

produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and

complete, lacking in nothing.

PSALM 37:7Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do

not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

How then can we grow in Patience?

You need to be AWARE OF YOURSELF

How do we display the patience that is characteristic of Christ?

1. WE THANK GOD

2. PRAY TO UNDERSTAND HIS PURPOSES

3. WE REMEMBER HIS PROMISES

ROMANS 2:7“To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory,

honor and immortality, he will give eternal life”

KINDNESS – LOVE IS KIND

Kindness is a virtue that STEMS FROM GOD’S LOVE

GALATIANS 5:22-23But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,

forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there

is no law.

TITUS 3:4But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous

things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the

Holy Spirit,

LUKE 10:29-34But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus,

“And who is my neighbor?”

30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he

came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii[e] and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any

extra expense you may have.’

EPHESIANS 4:32God is kind. He is not harsh. He came not to condemn, but to save. He is only severe after his mercy and love

are ultimately spurned. "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God

forgave you.”
