1: Introduction

This document is the master guide that the SAP University Competence Centre Asia Pacific Japan supplies to its customers who purchase SAP HANA access.

Please note that all of the UAP curriculum for SAP HANA can be found in the following location:

2: Set Up Steps

The basic setup steps are as follows:

1. Download the required software to be installed on your desktop 2. Install SAP HANA Studio on the desktop 3. Install the required SAP Data Services components on the desktop 4. Install SAP Predictive Analysis Desktop Components 5. Starting SAP HANA Studio and creating the system connection

3: Installing SAP HANA Studio on the Desktop

3.1 Installing on a Windows Desktop

Pre-Requisites for Installing SAP HANA Studio on your desktop

1. The Java runtime is accessible either via the PATH or JAVA_HOME variable or by specifying

the --vm option. 2. You are logged on as a local administrator.

If Installing the 64 Bit Version you need to have a 64 Bit Version of Java installed as shown below.

Running the Installer

Open up Windows Explorer and navigate your way to the following directory:

For 64 Bit go to HDB_STUDIO_WINDOWS_X86_64

For 32 Bit go to HDB_STUDIO_WINDOWS_X86

32 Bit Installation –

You start the installation executable hdbsetup.exe which will display the following screen.

Since we are going to install a new SAP HANA Studio we accept the defaults and click Next

Accept the defaults and Select Next

This screen shows a summary of what will be installed and where it will be installed. To carry out the installation you select Install.

The third step takes approximately 5 Minutes

Now Select Finish

The files are installed under a folder called SAP HANA

The path on the C drive is "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\hdbstudio\hdbstudio.exe" – you should create a shortcut on your desktop to start the Studio. The Icon on the desktop looks like the following

3.2 Installing on a MAC

Please note that this installation will take some time.

To install on a MAC you need to download and install the MAC OS Version of the HANA Studio.

After unpacking the files to a location on your MAC you should navigate to the relevant directory and run the hdbinst program. This will start a dialog where you need to enter some parameters so that the installer will install the HANA Studio for you.

Parameter 1: Installation Path – you should accept the default value proposed by the installer routine.

Parameter 2: Components to install – Select the “All Option”

Parameter 3: Do you want to continue? (y/n) – to install select y

When completed you will get a notification in the dialog saying “Process Completed”

4: Setting up the Predictive Analysis client on your desktop

You will also need to setup the Predictive Analysis tool set on your desktop.

Navigate to the location where you have downloaded one of the following files to:

1. SAP PREDICTIVE ANALYSIS 2.3 32B (the 32 Bit version of the tool) or 2. SAP PREDICTIVE ANALYSIS 2.3 64B (the 64 Bit version of the tool)

Note: You cannot have SAP Lumira installed on the desktop. If you do the installation will fail. Note: Please un-install the previous version of SAP Predictive Analytics tool before installing this latest version. To install the software you simply double click on the version you want to install (32 bit or 64 bit) which then displays the following:

Press Next

Check the I accept the license agreement and then press Next

Press Next

Installation is running

If you get the following

Click Allow Access

Installation has completed press Finish

This will automatically start the Predictive Analysis tool

When you get the following screen:

You need to do the following steps by selecting Enter KeyCode

License Key for Predictive Analysis

You are required to enter a license key for the Predictive Analysis component.

The latest license key for the individual product will be provided upon request through sap_support@qut.edu.au. Please note that the license key will be expired every 6 months. The current license key for 2015 is DB20F-K23HJ38-P7N34C9-BA0R1HB-EX

Press Save.

Press Close.

5: Setting up your System Connection in SAP HANA Studio

To start the SAP HANA Studio double click on the shortcut you have setup on your desktop.

When you double click on the Icon to start the SAP HANA Studio the following is displayed.

You can change the location using the Browse option or accept the default. Click on OK to continue.

Accept the NO option and then you get the following screen

You are now in the SAP HANA Studio on your Windows Desktop

You should open the Administration Console which will display a screen similar to the following.

If you are opening the SAP HANA studio for the first time the screen will be blank.

To create the system connection you place your mouse in the Systems Tab and then right mouse click which will provide you with a number of options. You choose the option to “Add System” which displays the following:

There are 3 fields to enter data:

1. Hostname - enter the hostname that is provided to you by the UCC in this Host Name Field – in this example I am connecting to hanademo.ucc.qut.edu.au.

2. Enter the Instance Number provided to you by the UCC – in this case it is 00 3. Enter a description – this is a text field where you can enter text that is meaningful to you –

in this example I enter the value “HA1 – taylord2” which is a combination of the SID for the HANA system and my username but you can enter something that you want

Now press Next

Enter the username and the password provided to you by the UCC.

Press Finish If it is the first time that you are connecting to the system you will be required to change the password to something only you know. When you successfully connect to the HANA system your display in the Systems Tab will show the details of the connection. The display would be similar to the following screen shot.
