Setting Your Cognos Portal View

Version 1.0 • Updated June 8, 2007 If you visited the Cognos web site early (essentially, before Wednesday, June 6th, at 9am), we set up important display defaults that you won't see without manually updating your Cognos settings. But not to worry, the tutorial will help step you through the short process.... First, once you've logged into the Cognos web site, you may see this Welcome page.

You can skip this Welcome page in the future by unchecking the Show this page in the future box at the lower left...

To get to the Cognos Content, click the Cognos Connection link; it's just to the right of the Welcome message.

We built a 3rd tab, Cognos Reporting Warehouse Portal, and made it the default tab. Unfortunately, we did it a little late for you, so we're going to step you through how to do this yourself.

Here's the main problem for you early adopters: Notice you have 2 tabs, Public Folders & My Folders. The system defaults to displaying Public Folders tab on top.

Click on the portal pull-down menu…

… and select the Add portal tabs... option.

The Select portal tabs page appears

Click on Public Folders.

We're going to add the Cognos Reporting Warehouse portal to the two tabs we already have. That portal is in the Cognos Reporting Warehouse Portal folder. Click on the link here...

...then Check the box for Cognos Reporting Warehouse…

…and click the Green Arrow button…

Then Click OK.

…so that it appears in the box of Selected Entries on the right.

Now all we have to do is bring Cognos Reporting Warehouse to the top, so that Cognos defaults to the Cognos Reporting Warehouse portal when we log in.

Click on the Portal pull-down menu again…

Notice that the Cognos Reporting Warehouse portal that we just added appears as the 3rd tab; we're half-way there.

...and this time, select the Modify the sequence... option.

The Modify the sequence of tabs page appears.

Notice that the Cognos Reporting Warehouse tab we just added appears at the bottom of the list.

We move it to the top by clicking on it…

...and then clicking on the To top option at the bottom right.

Our Cognos Reporting Warehouse tab now appears in front of the other 2 tabs.

Once we Confirm by clicking OK… 3

...and the Cognos Reporting Warehouse portal appears. This will be your default view from now on when you log into Cognos.
