October 2017 Message from the Vice President, Tahnee Dewhurst Hello Sevillians! Well it’s October already and I swear it snuck up on me. We are well and truly onto our Summer timetabling now, so don’t forget set-up is at 8:00am this Sunday and I look forward to seeing you all there for a prompt set-up (8:00am on a Sunday morning, horse people are crazy). There is always something you can assist with, if there are plenty of people setting up jumps or you are unable to physically manourve poles, consider whether these tasks have been completed;
• Placement of traffic cones to divide the jumping arenas.
• Placement of traffic cones to create the dressage arenas and a
clear way for horse and pedestrian traffic between these
areas.
• Placment of mounting block in the centre of the muster area
(away from the traffic zone near shed/tie up area).
• Placement of coloured group flags designating where each
group is to muster (aaccording to plan layout).
• Placement of equipment as required per rally plan in Ring 1
i.e. games equipment or poles.
Thank-you to those who put in many hours behind the scenes in between each rally in order to ensure we have an enjoyable and successful day for all, your efforts do not go unnoticed. …/2

DC News & Rally Reports The September rally was very relaxed and it was a great deal of fun to watch the some of the pink and green groups join forces in games whilst some others took advantage of more space for quieter lessons. The make-up and show prep lessons were hugely popular for all, with white socks painted brighter and whiter, tails combed and sprayed shinier and plaits perfected for sewing into bobbles. Many thanks as always to everyone for kindly letting us know whether you’re coming or not to this month’s rally. This helps us know how many instructors we need, where to place them and the groups and plan what moves we may make on the rally day so all groups are balanced. Please ensure that everyone is ready for set-up at 8.00 am and 8.45 am so we can get groups sorted and start on-time. Please welcome Ryan Smith (bother of Charlotte) and Lucinda Busse and their ponies who are new to the club this rally. For those wishing to be graded at a rally also please ensure you attend all lessons as per the plan. If anyone wishes to be graded at this rally, please send a note if you haven’t already to me at [email protected]. Our amazing Blue Group are ready to go for their C Certificate this Saturday at our grounds. Our club is hosting a huge group of candidates and assessors on this day and as such are running a canteen. Feel free to call in and support them. We wish this group the very best on the day but know that they are so ready, thanks to all their hard work under expert instruction of our also incredibly hard working coaches Rachael Edwards and Nicky Mullens. Don’t forget to save the date: Feb 24 & 25 2018 for the Seville PC Horse Trials. We’re looking for people to join the Organising Committee. No experience necessary just a willingness to get on board and enjoy being a part of it. Anna Baker, District Commissioner
