Where Loveresides“Thank you for your beautiful smiles and faces.”

This is what the Apostolic Vicar of Taytay in northern Palawan, Bishop Edgardo Juanich, D.D, said as he celebrated the last Mass of the SFC ICON on Feb. 15 at the City Coliseum, Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

He talked about the leper colony of Culion Island, his undelivered message to Pope Francis and the unfinished cathedral of his diocese, among other things. Here are some of the highlights from the homily of Bishop Eduardo Juanich:

A smile that is coming from a pure heart is truly captivating.

Peter had sinned previously, but Jesus didn’t give up on him. He doesn’t like what he did, but he didn’t let the deed come between them.

Real love needs a heart to heart talk.

All sins are failures to love.

The heart is the spiritual center of every person. It is where love resides, so it is also where God dwells.

Faith-filled compassion heals people.

35 ‘Love More’Power Points

Arguably the most powerful talk of the conference, the last ses-sion given by a missionary based

in Canada, Angelu Saludo, gave march-ing orders to 4,500 delegates of the just-concluded Singles for Christ (SFC) In-ternational Conference (ICON) held at the City Coliseum of Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

At a glance, here are some of the quotes that had not just laugh out loud humor, but insights to jump start life-changing discernment:

1. When you think about God’s love, we want miracles, but it’s really about the little things.

2. How can you define something that is beyond definition, such as love?

3. Tu me manques – French for ‘you are missing in me.’

4. Is your life in SFC an adventure?

5. The calling to “feed my sheep” is the calling to love more.

6. We cannot be the only one being fed. We have to feed others.

7. The more: what can I do more for God?

8. To love more is a challenge to grow for a higher love: to love like Christ.

9. You want real love? You won’t find it in Valentine’s day. You’ll find it in Good Friday, crucified on the Cross.

10. We cannot be good SFCs if we are only good during households and as-semblies, but not in our homes.

11. We must be good examples in our workplace because we may be the only Bible only people will read.

12. We must aim higher because God made us excellently.

13. Love and excellence: go together. We cannot love and still be mediocre, it doesn’t make sense. When we love, we always give our best.

19. A good witness must have a very personal relationship with Christ.

20. A gentleman always brings a Bible.

21. If love is the mark of a Christian, then forgiveness is its face. Love is at its finest in forgiveness. The act of forgiv-ing and asking for forgiveness make the person more compassionate and under-standing. This is the cure for a world full of ego.

23. If in the past, I did so many things to get love, Now, I don’t do anything or give anything, and yet I am loved more.

31. God wants you to do what is right, not what is easy.

32. If you really love the person, you will not cause the person to sin.
