"Oh mujer, grande es tu fe!
Que se cumpla lo que deseas”.
Cuando la misericordia se retiene incluso para el más
noble de razones (tal vez la justicia), todavía estamos
equivocados, fuera de sintonía con el Dios que Jesús
proclamó. La misericordia de Dios, tal como Jesús lo
reveló, abarca indiscriminadamente, lo malo y lo bueno,
lo que no merecen y los que lo merecen, los no
iniciados y los iniciados. Una de las ideas
verdaderamente sorprendentes que Jesús nos ha dado es
que la misericordia de Dios, como la luz y el calor del
sol, se tienen que enviar a todo el mundo. En
consecuencia, siempre es gratuito, inmerecido,
incondicional y universal en el abrazo, y tiene un
alcance más allá de toda religión, las costumbres,
rúbrica, la corrección política, programa obligatorio, la
ideología, e incluso el mismo pecado.
Por nuestra parte entonces, especialmente aquellos de
nosotros que somos padres, ministros, maestros y
catequistas, hay que arriesgarse a proclamar el carácter
pródigo de la misericordia de Dios. No debemos gastar
la misericordia de Dios, como si fuera la nuestra a
gastar; repartir el perdón de Dios, como si fuera una
mercancía limitada; poner condiciones en el amor de
Dios, como si Dios fuera un pequeño tirano o una
ideología política; o cortar el acceso a Dios, como si
fuéramos el guardián de las puertas del cielo. No lo
somos, si atamos la misericordia de Dios en nuestro
propio miedo y la falta de valentía, nos limitamos al
tamaño de nuestras propias mentes. ¿Somos personas de
misericordia? ¿O buscamos excusas para negar la
misericordia?

When mercy is withheld even for the noblest of
reasons (perhaps justice), we’re still misguided, out of
tune with the God whom Jesus proclaimed. God’s
mercy, as Jesus revealed it, embraces
indiscriminately, the bad and the good, the
undeserving and the deserving, the uninitiated and the
initiated. One of the truly startling insights that Jesus
gave us is that the mercy of God, like the light and
warmth of the sun, must go out to everyone.
Consequently it’s always free, undeserved,
unconditional, universal in embrace, and has a reach
beyond all religion, custom, rubric, political
correctness, mandatory program, ideology, and even
sin itself.
For our part then, especially those of us who are
parents, ministers, teachers, and catechists, we must
risk proclaiming the prodigal character of God’s
mercy. We must not spend God’s mercy, as if it were
ours to spend; dole out God’s forgiveness, as if it were
a limited commodity; put conditions on God’s love, as
if God were a petty tyrant or a political ideology; or
cut off access to God, as if we were the keeper of the
heavenly gates. We aren’t, if we tie God’s mercy to
our own fear and lack of courage, we limit it to the
size of our own minds. Are we people of mercy? Or
do we look for excuses to deny mercy?

Youth Group The High School Youth Group will kick off the 2014/2015 year on Sunday September 7th at 10:15am in the Youth Room in the parish hall. All High School Youth are
encouraged to attend and join. This is a little fellowship, faith building and planning activities. Our first meeting
will be on implementation of the St. Francis Youth Council.
