S.G. Third Grade Photo Newsletter December, 2016 December is a short month of school, but we certainly pack in many great experiences and learning at St. Gabriel. The third grade started December with a visit from Dr. Koski, Vivian's mom. Dr. Koski helped us learn some helpful relaxation breathing techniques.

S.G. Third Grade Photo Newsletter December, 2016 December is a short month of school, but we certainly pack in many great experiences and learning at St. Gabriel.

The third grade started December with a visit from Dr. Koski, Vivian's mom.

Dr. Koski helped us learn some helpful relaxation breathing techniques.

From time to time, students eat lunch in the classroom to allow for funeral luncheons.

Olivia did a great job sharing.

Everyone enjoyed her skill of playing the violin.

The hallway shows many signs of the arrival of winter.

The gym became our science lab as we acted out the movements of the Moon and Earth.

These medium sized scientists are ready to learn.

We used the parish library to integrate reading with science.

The dark library worked out just right to help us in our learning about eclipses and seasons.

The third graders showed reverence during their Sacrament of Reconciliation service with the fourth graders.

Everyone had a chance to pray and read during this Advent tradition.

The school headed to S.M.C.H. for Christmas concert practice right away the morning of the concert.

The third graders showed good patience while they waited to practice.

Practice went well.

The recorder musical piece came together nicely.

The children gathered in the S.M.C.H. cafeteria before their big performance.

Great memories.

Good friends.

Camden taught the class much about hockey.

The third graders enjoyed a nice warm indoor recess.

The weather certainly was frightful, but the students were so delightful in the warm gym.

The "Sweetness of Christmas" event was much fun.

Thank you to all the parents who helped.

During guidance class with Mrs. Newcome, the students teamed up to use cooperation skills to make some frosty snowmen.

Mrs. Schneider always has the students learning volumes during library class.

Students take time to share some good finds in the library.

The third graders are developing stamina during their independent reading time.

Read, read, read!

Learning to read is like other skills. The more one reads the better one becomes.

Mr. Rocko from the Lions Club stopped by with a surprise for the third graders.

The Lions Club provides dictionaries to every third grader in Neenah.

The third graders practice friendly letter form when they wrote thank you cards to Dr. Koski.

Christmas fun.

The suds drive was a huge success.

The third graders enjoyed listening to their peers share beautiful "Customized Spelling List Christmas Essays."

All parents should be so proud of their third graders for reverent participation in the class Jesus Birthday prayer service.

Good singing.

The "Reading and Rudolf" Christmas celebration went well. The students enjoyed some reindeer.

The Christmas stories were wonderful.

Fun times.

These two medium sized ladies provided the class with a special Christmas concert.

The third graders enjoyed a well-earned additional recess.

It is so much fun to play on the snow hills.

The third graders have been really working hard not to only tell time, but to also determine elapsed time.

During December, the third graders continued to work on measurement. We moved to telling time to the hour, half-hour, quarter hour, five minutes, and minute. We worked with minutes before and after the hour. Next, we worked on elapsed time. Keep practicing those basic facts!

In social studies the students just finished a project on good citizenship. Everyone made an Uncle Sam. Merry Christmas to all.
