BE SURE TO SIGN-UP TO STAY INFORMED OVER THE SCHOOL YEAR

Center Grove Community School Corporation partners with community groups and organizations which sponsor activities of an educational/enrichment nature for students by allowing them to distribute flyers electronically through the Peachjar company. Electronic distribution is environmentally friendly and more convenient for parents, providing them with access to flyers in an online location. Parents are notified via email when new flyers are available. Approval of a flyer does not constitute endorsement by the school corporation. Approval simply means the material has been reviewed and meets the guidelines for district-wide distribution. Please go to the following webpage to sign up to receive the flyers. https://www.centergrove.k12.in.us/Page/11600

New legislation has been passed allowing students to bring and apply sunscreen from home. You are allowed to send in non-aerosol sunscreen with your child to school with their name clearly labeled. If they need assistance applying, you will need to send in a signed note to the teacher giving permission for a staff member to apply the sunscreen to your child.

Sugar Grove Elementary School’s

Red Ribbon Week!

October 28-November 1

Theme: Send a Message. Stay Drug Free.

Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention program, reaching millions of

Americans during the last week of October every year. By wearing red ribbons and participating in

community anti-drug events, young people pledge to live a drug-free lifestyle and pay tribute to DEA

Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. During the week of October 28th, we will have special

activities to educate our students on the importance of making positive choices. On November 7th and

8th, Health Ed Pros will be at Sugar Grove teaching our students about the dangers of drugs.

Monday, October 28th: Proud to be Drug-Free! Wear red clothing. Students will receive a red ribbon to

wear today.

Tuesday, October 29th: Don’t Let Drugs Get in the Way of Your Success! Dress for Success! Wear a fancy

outfit—dresses, ties, etc.

Wednesday, October 30th: Team Up Against Drugs! Wear your favorite sports jersey or shirt. Students

will receive a sticker to wear today.

Thursday, October 31st: Say Boo to Drugs! Dress up in a costume. **No accessories. Ex. wands, swords,

props, etc. No masks, No whole face painted, No weapons.

Friday, November 1st: Journey Over the Hill Drug-Free! Dress like a senior citizen.

**Parents~Red Ribbon Week gives us an opportunity to start or continue the dialogue with children

about the dangers of drug use and abuse. By expressing disapproval of the use of drugs (and better yet,

by promoting healthy lifestyles), parents can significantly reduce the likelihood that their children will

use substances. Furthermore, by sending a consistent message both at school and at home, children are

more likely to actually hear it.

Drug-Free Pledge

I pledge allegiance to myself and who I want to be,

I can make my dreams come true, if I believe in me.

I pledge to stay in school and learn the things I need to know,

To make the world a better place for kids like me to grow.

I pledge to keep my dreams alive and be all that I can be.

I know I can, and that’s because,

I pledge to stay….

DRUG-FREE!
