Housing is one of the biggest issues facing the county right now. With a rapidly expanding population anda lack of affordable units in county the issue is big enough to effect multiple aspects of daily life andinfrastructure. Newer ideas mixed with updated policy and a invigoration of current programs is needed tofix the current state of affairs and handle the evolution of the housing landscape in Washington Count.

The Public Health Advisory Council reviews issues such as access to health care and communityengagement, as well as public health concerns such as latent tuberculosis and tobacco cessation. I havea deep understanding of these issues because of my work as a outpatient and clinical pharmacist with theunderserved population in our county. I have given presentations on these types of public health issues atlocal pharmacist professional meetings and spent many hours teaching patients about basic preventivecare. I feel that my experience as a health care provider working at a non profit would help me be qualifiedto be a member of this council. I also have management experience as well in my current role asPharmacy Operations Manager and enjoy working with teams.

I am a primary care physician and address the basic and complex health issues of my patients. I am theVice President of the King City Community Foundation which has a mission of promoting cohesion andinclusion in King City. I serve on the King City Planning Commission. I am a member of the Tigard CERTand participate in medical countermeasures activities and will bring Map My Neighborhood to myneighbors this fall. I am an avid outdoors woman and serve on the Mazama's Critical Incident StressManagement team which promotes psychological first aid after a traumatic event in the outdoors.

From my reading of the issues, PHAC focuses on the granular details that comprise a wide spectrum ofhealth concerns. Broadly, they investigate threats to public health (ie opioids, juuling, communicableillnesses); health equity (social determinants, mental health parity, language barriers); healthcare accessand coordination (costs, transportation, provider accessibility); and manage significant amounts of data toadvise on the funding of various health related activities.

No foreseeable conflicts but The King City Community Foundation is advocating for increased funding for Tualatin Valley Creates. We have specifically requested that Commissioner Rogers support this arts funding as it serves as a source of grant monies for which the KCCF plans to apply to support projects in our community.
