Lithium Ion Battery Danger
The swelling popularity of hoverboards has
brought the danger of lithium ion battery fires and
or explosions firmly into the news. Two online
retailers halted sales.
Turns out the danger doesn't originate solely from
hoverboard batteries but also could occur in cell-
phones, laptops or other products such as battery
powered lawn tools incorporating lithium ion
power source.
Recommendation:
Do not leave unattended while charging.
Instruct your children on the proper procedure.
Check all smoke alarm batteries are fresh. We have
all been told to change them when the clocks flip
forward or back but did you?
A Genius Use of Plastic Bottles
What does plastic recovered from the ocean and a
3D printer have in common?
Adias has developed a process using the above 2
ingredients to develop a new sneaker!
That’s a big win win for the environment.
Fort Lauderdale Launches
Vision Zero
Vision Zero is a new program the City Com-
mission adopted to achieve zero traffic-related
fatalities or injuries to improve the life an
safety of everyone that travels on our streets.
The Vision Zero plan, a neighbor and commu-
nity partner effort, incorporates five Es:
Engineering
Education
Encouragement
Enforcement
Evaluation
that will help create a cultural shift that puts
human life above speed and convenience.
Learn more about what you can do to help the
city reach our Vision Zero goal at
www.fortlauderdale.gov.
Remember the lessons we learned in school?
Cross with the green using a crosswalk; walk
against traffic, wear white or light colors at
night, put reflectors on your bike or sneakers;
dark clothes at night make you almost invisi-
ble to drivers—you see the traffic much better
than they see you.
Game Time
for Adults is held
the 1st and 3rd Wed. of the
month from
1 p.m.—3 p.m.
Bring a neighbor or a friend to play cards,
Scrabble, chess, checkers, dominoes or your
own favorite game. If we don’t know the game
you bring you can teach us. Come join the fun
and meet fellow game players!
Update on Davie Wall Project
The job has been awarded to Interstate Construction
LLC. Your Board has worked with FDOT to obtain
a newly configured wall & fence. The chain link
fence will no longer attach to the lower Davie wall
but attach 10’ south of the corner at a 90 degree an-
gle to the higher I95 wall. This and the new rounded
wall top should address the “wall hopping” problem.
WARNING: Property owners against the wall need
to get signed paperwork to FDOT in order for re-
pairs to be completed on that portion of the wall
behind your home. If you choose not to participate,
you will be personally responsible in the future ac-
cording to FDOT. Job should start in March.
