SHALOM GENERAL FUND - The Council asks that you please remember the Shalom General Fund as we near the end of 2018. Through October, our receipts were $230,705 and our expenses were $399,247 for a difference of $168,542. Early in the fiscal year, we gave Mission Haiti their entire reinvestment allocation of $145,000 for the fiscal year so the numbers are a bit skewed, but even after taking account of that one-time expense we are still roughly $70k behind in our receipts. We thank you for your generosity so far, and we continue to covet your ongoing gifts to the General Fund to fulfill Shalom's mission. DEADLINE FOR WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS is Wednesday by 8:00am. We rejoice with Adam and Michaela Hofer in the birth of Addyelle Thiya. She was born on Tuesday, November 27. We want to thank everyone for their support during Evan's time away. From raking leaves, to bringing meals and watching the kids, to your continuous prayers, it is all so greatly appreciated. Thank you again! – Evan & Jordan Fey, Reid and Joessa Arlene Brasel, age 77, passed away Wednesday, November 28. Cards and expressions of sympathy can be sent to Arlene’s daughter, Kim Underberg, at 4040 S. Brady Court, Sioux Falls, SD 57103. FURNITURE MISSION – The date for serving at the Furniture Mission was changed from our “normal” first Saturday of the month to this Saturday, December 8 at 8am. If you intend on participating, please contact Brendon at [email protected] ASAP to get on the list. SHARING CHRISTMAS – We are hosting our annual distribution day this Saturday, December 8 from 9-10:30am. Please let Brendon know if you would like to help volunteer for this event by emailing him at [email protected]. WORKERS ON WHEELS - The Active Generations Workers on Wheels “Adopt a Sidewalk” program is in desperate need of volunteers to help the vulnerable, elderly homeowners in our community with their snow removal needs this 2018-2019 snow season! They currently have over 140 people on the list, but less than 20 volunteers available to assist them so far! This program used to be called “Scoop It,” run jointly with the Helpline Center and the Department of Corrections. Workers on Wheels took over this program and has been recruiting volunteers throughout the year with extremely limited success for this year’s snow season. Volunteers would be assigned a homeowner within their requested zip code if possible. This can be a volunteer opportunity for a single person, a family, or even a team of volunteers to share throughout the season. Please contact Valerie Lietz at (605) 336-6722 or Anne Young at (605) 333-3317 if you would like to get involved. FRIENDSHIP – We just wrapped up the first half of our biggest year yet! With an average of 93 friends, we are filling both our sanctuary and fellowship hall! This also means that there is a greater need for mentors than ever before! If you want to find out more about what it means to be a mentor and how you can make a difference in someone’s life, please contact Brendon in person or at [email protected].

BAPTISM – Sunday, December 9 we will celebrate the baptism of Adeline Jane Schnieder, daughter of Josh and Danelle Schneider. JOIN US on Sunday, December 16 at 5:00pm for a special holiday service. This year we are combining the children’s program and the candlelight service. This intergenerational candlelight service will be filled with music, a drama, and scripture that tells the story of Christmas and the hope that Christ brought to us on that night! CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE will be Monday, December 24 at 5:00pm.

CHOIR – We will do a program run through on December 9 and 16 upstairs in the Sanctuary. RECENT SERMONS are available on the Shalom website or by clicking the following link http://www.shalomcrc.org.
