  • Due to client's demand of an iconic building which represents the rapid economic development of Suizhong, a town in Northeast China, we eventually came up with the idea of Light House for its metapher of enlightenment.

In this project, I worked, in collaboration with the Project Director Mr. Christian Beck, at multiple scales and different levels of detail, from analysis of the urban context to development of technical drawings.

  • Sanya is famous for its beautiful view from sea and beach, which bring joy and pleasure to the vacationers. The client demand us to show the essence of such mood in this design of a 4,000 sqm villa on the peninsular. We think "tranquility", as the key word, would best represent the idea of living in such a nice villa, enjoying the pleasant sunshine and breeze.

The most important things in the design of this villa are how to make the functional and spatial relationship of each single unit coherent, how to make the best use of those units to get aboundant sunshine, breeze and views and how to make the users, regardless of master or guests, to enjoy the most of relaxation.

The design scheme carves out a section of Monaco and actively constructs a particular image relative to luxury automobiles while simultaneously allowing the public to occupy that image. It achieves this goal by wrapping and concentrating the streetscape below into the structure, codifying Monacos imagistic facade into one continuous ribbon, a parade of Monacos luxury cars. Between the loops and ramps of this ribbon, large floor plates are used as rentable space for banquets, conferences, and parties. Visitors are able to participate in Monacos luxury image, and high net worth individuals are allowed to flaunt their wealth, creating a symbiosis between groups that are largely disparate today in Monaco.

The building uses the glamorous backdrop of Monaco to further create a concentrated image of exclusivity. The form frames views of the cityscape, the ceremonial headquarters of the princes palace and the surrounding natural beauty of the Cote dAzur.

Fields of Play attempts to redefine the public domain of the residential space. There is always a stark boundary created between the city and the private domain. Though this is required with respect to the space we reside in, it is not always warranted at the level of the city. The undulating landscape that rises up above the plinth, while providing public access to the pedestrian bridge, plays with the commercial program to create a multitude of spaces that the public can use. It looks to create a multi-layered program that invites the public and the residents to interact and use the space.

Three land-use strips will reconnect the Springwell, Mexicantown, and Delray neighborhoods back to the waterfront. By taking advantage of the incoming plaza and high-speed rail, the proposal addresses Delrays disjunction from the northern neighborhoods by the highway and improper zoning. The central, civic strip proposes a cultural center, an intermodal transit center, hotel, and waterfront education facility to draw in future development while meeting the demands of the new high speed rail station.

The cultural center locates on the north side of the central strip, as a starting point to draw attention from the neighborhood and railway station. It is a connec-tion, both physically and metaphorically. Building upon I-75 expressway, it helps users to navigate through the infrastructure more easily; at the same time, the culture centers social agency also means to leverage the quality of cultural life in this area.

  • This project re-incorporate the existing elements on site, such as industrial buildings and trees, into the design of a museum and an office building. The design scheme tries to create its own atomsphere through a U shape courtyard, however, allows connection through the buildings to its adjacency at the same time. It attempts to re-establish the collective memory for those who once had worked and lived in this area, with a different set of vocabulary.
